Myocardial ischemic (MI) injury is a common cardiovascular disease, and the potential therapeutic effects of ginsenoside Rb2 (Rb2) have been lately the focus of interest. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of Rb2 on pyroptosis of cardiomyocytes in MI progression. An in vitro MI model was developed by subjecting rat's cardiomyocytes (H9c2) to hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R).

Aim: The high morbidity and mortality associated with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) are an urgent concern. This study aimed to investigate the ratio of lymphocyte count to C-reactive protein ratio (LCR) in multiple measurements in the perioperative period, exploring dynamic changes as the best predictor of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in STEMI patients.

Methods: We enrolled 205 STEMI patients, conducting blood counts at admission, 24 hours post-percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and at discharge.

May 2024

Department of Neurosurgery, 904 th Hospital of Joint Logistic Support Force of PLA, Wuxi Clinical College of Anhui Medical University, No. 101 Xingyuan North Road, Liangxi District, Wuxi, 214044, Jiangsu Province, China.

Background: Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a severe subtype of stroke, is characterized by notably high mortality and morbidity, largely due to the lack of effective therapeutic options. Although the neuroprotective potential of PPARg and Nrf2 has been recognized, investigative efforts into oroxin A (OA), remain limited in preclinical studies.

Methods: SAH was modeled in vivo through filament perforation in male C57BL/6 mice and in vitro by exposing HT22 cells to hemin to induce neuronal damage.

Objective: To summarize the clinical effect of a single-center retrospective analysis of the contralateral approach with a microscope and tubular retractor system for ipsilateral decompression in patients with lumbar lateral recess stenosis and a narrow spinal canal.

Methods: A total of 25 patients who underwent ipsilateral decompression surgery via a contralateral approach with microscope and tubular retractor system, performed by one surgeon at a single center were retrospectively examined. The width of the lamina fenestration was compared with the preoperative distance from the root of the spinous process to the dorsal articular facet, the bilateral articular facet change in the suprapedicle notch section on CT scan, and with the changes in transverse and sagittal diameters of the canal area on MRI.

Background: As a primary form of work-related violence in the healthcare sector, patient mistreatment negatively impacts nurses' well-being. To date, there has yet reached a definitive conclusion on the mediating mechanism and boundary conditions behind the influence of patient mistreatment on nurses' emotional exhaustion.

Methods: This study employed a convenience sampling method to recruit a sample of 1672 nurses from public hospitals in Western China.

Purpose: Although the adverse effects of atrial fibrillation (AF) on cancers have been well reported, the relationship between the AF and the adverse outcomes in prostate cancer (PC) remains inconclusive. This study aimed to explore the prevalence of AF and evaluate the relationship between AF and clinical outcomes in PC patients.

Methods: Patients diagnosed with PC between 2008 and 2017 were identified from the National Inpatient Sample database.

The chemical investigation of the roots of Lindera glauca guided the isolation and identification of 3 new sesquiterpenoids, namely glaucatotones J-L (1-3), and one known congener, (1β,5β)-1-hydroxyguaia-4(15),11(13)-dieno-12,5-lactone (4). The structures of new compounds were established based on comprehensive spectrographic methods, mainly including 1D & 2D NMR and HRESIMS analyses, and the absolute configurations were further confirmed by the comparison of experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism. The cytotoxicity activities of isolates were evaluated, and the results showed that they have moderate cytotoxic activities.

We collected thyroid-related hormone index levels, sleep duration, and other basic characteristics of the population with depression from the NHANES 2009-2012 cycles and evaluated the association of Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone Index (TSHI) with sleep duration in the euthyroid population with depression via different analysis methods. We found that the association between TSHI and sleep duration was only found in patients with depression degree < Moderate (score: 1-14) rather than > Moderate group. Among the populations with degree < Moderate (N = 1918), only 4 indexes (parametric Thyroid Feedback Quantile Index, PTFQI, Thyrotroph Thyroxine Resistance Index, TT4RI, Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone TSH, and TSHI) reflecting the sensitivity to thyroid hormones were related to the sleep duration, with a significant non-linear relationship after adjusting for potential confounders (all P < 0.

Article Synopsis
  • The study looked at factors that affect recovery after surgery for cauda equina syndrome (CES), a condition that can cause serious issues like bladder and bowel problems.
  • They tested 356 patients, using special methods to find out which symptoms were most likely to predict a poor recovery after surgery.
  • The researchers created a tool called a nomogram to help doctors figure out who might have a harder time recovering, which can improve treatment decisions.

CD276 is a promising prognostic indicator and an attractive therapeutic target in various malignancies. However, current methods for CD276 detection are time-consuming and expensive, limiting extensive studies and applications of CD276. We aimed to develop a pathomic model for CD276 prediction from H&E-stained pathological images, and explore the underlying mechanism of the pathomic features by associating the pathomic model with transcription profiles.
