Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients who underwent transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) have heterogeneous clinical outcomes. Accurate prognosis prediction and risk stratification are crucial for individualized treatment. We sought to develop a novel prognostic model for overall survival (OS) that incorporated contemporary clinical and laboratory factors for estimating individual prognosis.

The digital vaccine supply chain (DVSC) harnesses modern information technology to track, monitor, and manage the entire vaccine process in real-time, ensuring vaccine quality and safety while enhancing the transparency and efficiency of the supply chain (SC). This paper undertakes a systematic literature review of research papers on DVSC support technology, adopting the Bibliometric-Systematic Literature Review (B-SLR) method. It addresses the gaps in previous research in this area and offers new ideas and perspectives for further applications.

Background: Dystroglycanopathy is a genetically heterogeneous group of rare muscular dystrophies that affect the brain, muscles, and eyes, primarily resulting from impaired glycosylation of α-dystroglycan. In this study, we identify and characterize a novel heterozygous gene variant causally associated with α-dystroglycanopathy.

Case Description: We present a case of a 1-year and 5-month-old female with elevated creatine kinase (CK) levels and seizures, along with global developmental delay, microphthalmia, hypotonia, and myasthenia.

Cigarette smoking is the most dominant factor contributing to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Fibroblasts are sensitive to cellular injury induced by cigarette smoke condensate (CSC). This study was devoted to discovering the potential target and exploring its regulatory mechanism in CSC-induced human fibroblasts.

Primary large B-cell lymphomas of immune-privileged sites (IP-LBCLs) include primary central nervous system large B-cell lymphoma (PCNSL), primary vitreoretinal large B-cell lymphoma (PVRL), and primary testicular large B-cell lymphoma (PTL). These tumors not only have a unique anatomical distribution but also exhibit specific biological and clinical characteristics. Given the high biological overlap between intravascular large B-cell lymphoma (IVLBCL) and IP-LBCLs, and the fact that IVLBCL is confined to the intravascular microenvironment, IVLBCL is currently included in the category of IP-LBCLs.

Disgusting fishy odor could break out inside oligotrophic drinking waterbody in winter with low temperature. In preceding study, six species of fishy odor-producing microalgae and totally twenty fishy odorants were identified in drinking water source of Tongyu River, however, contributions of odorants and microalgae to whole fishy odor were unclear. In this study, odor contribution of microalgae and corresponding odorant to whole fishy odor was evaluated comprehensively.

Leptomeningeal metastasis (LM) is a fatal complication with increasing incidence in patients with non-small cell lung cancer. Herein, we present the case of a patient who presented with complete vision loss due to LM and achieved a survival benefit from treatment with trametinib. The treatment was prescribed based on the detection of a BRAF non-V600E mutation in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).

Approximately 22 % of human colorectal cancers (CRC) are characterized by IGF2 overexpression, and the tumor-promoting role of IGF2 has been widely reported. Despite promising preclinical results, IGF2 signaling inhibition therapy has exhibited limited efficacy in treating unselected patients with CRC. Recent evidence suggests that IGF2-high CRC are more sensitive to IGF2 signaling blockade therapy in immune-deficient mice, suggesting that IGF2-high CRC can benefit from IGF2 signaling blockade therapy.

Membraneless organelles (MLOs) formed via protein phase separation have garnered significant attention recently due to their relevance to cellular physiology and pathology. However, there is a lack of tools available to study their behavior and control their bioactivity in complex biological systems. This chapter describes a new optogenetic tool based on water-soluble chlorophyll protein (WSCP), a red light-induced singlet oxygen-generating protein, to control synthetic MLOs.

Background: LYB001 is a recombinant protein COVID-19 vaccine displaying a receptor-binding domain (RBD) in a highly immunogenic array on virus-like particles (VLPs). This study assessed the immunogenicity and safety of LYB001 as a booster.

Research Design And Methods: In this randomized, active-controlled, double-blinded, phase 3 trial, participants aged ≥ 18 years received a booster with LYB001 or ZF2001 (Recombinant COVID-19 Vaccine).

The consumption of bivalves contaminated with paralytic shellfish toxins (PSTs) poses a serious risk to human health. However, the presence of PSTs in bivalves from the South Yellow Sea Mudflat remains unclear. This study comprehensively examined the characteristics and potential health risks of PSTs in eight species of bivalves from the South Yellow Sea Mudflat across four seasons.

Article Synopsis
  • * The resulting carbon dots were small (5-20 nm), water-soluble, and showed strong optical properties, emitting green light under UV exposure.
  • * The sensor demonstrated high sensitivity and selectivity for ferric ions, making it suitable for testing in real water samples with minimal interference from other metals.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the relationship between tumour mutation burden (TMB) and the prognosis of patients with stage III gastric cancer, finding that high TMB correlates with better overall survival rates.
  • - Patients were categorized into high and low TMB groups using genetic sequencing and analysis, revealing that age is a key independent factor influencing prognosis, while TMB plays a significant, but secondary role.
  • - The research identifies that genes frequently mutated in gastric cancer are associated with certain signaling pathways, suggesting that TMB could serve as a useful biomarker for clinical outcomes in these patients.

Background And Purpose: Basilar artery (BA) tortuosity is closely associated with posterior circulation infarction (PCI) and dizziness/unsteadiness. This study aims to determine the relationship between BA tortuosity and the outcome of dizziness and unsteadiness in PCI patients.

Method: This study prospectively recruited PCI patients presenting with dizziness and unsteadiness.

Drought is considered the main agricultural menace, limiting the successful realization of land potential, and thereby reducing crop productivity worldwide. Therefore, breeding maize hybrids with improved drought tolerance via genetic manipulation is necessary. Herein, the multiple bud clumps of elite inbred maize lines, DH4866, Qi319, Y478 and DH9938, widely used in China, were transformed with the gene encoding choline dehydrogenase (EC 1.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze newly diagnosed marginal zone lymphoma (MZL) patients, focusing on treatment efficacy and prognostic factors during the immunotherapy era.
  • A total of 265 patients were reviewed, with MALT lymphoma being the most common type; patients who achieved a complete response after treatment had significantly better survival rates.
  • Obinutuzumab showed a higher complete response rate compared to rituximab, and a key finding was that patients who experienced disease progression within 24 months had considerably worse overall survival outcomes.

Currently, collaborative distribution models have not reached the optimal state of carbon emissions. The cost of additional low-carbon expenditures and the problem of carbon data verification have led to the lack of motivation for reducing emissions among collaborative distribution enterprises. Therefore, how to incentivize them to adopt the low-carbon model is crucial for achieving low-carbon goal.

The detection of anions using carbon dots (CDs) has received less attention compared to cations. Therefore, the present study aimed to develop a fluorescence sensor based on carbon dots (CDs) capable of detecting S in real water samples. The CDs were successfully prepared from the residues of a traditional Chinese herb, , which emitted green photoluminescence (PL) under ultraviolet light irradiation.

Background: Autophagy is a conserved catabolic process in eukaryotes that contributes to cell survival in response to multiple stresses and is important for organism fitness. Extensive research has shown that autophagy plays a pivotal role in both viral infection and replication processes. Despite the increasing research dedicated to autophagy, investigations into shrimp autophagy are relatively scarce.
