Hydraulic shear has been widely accepted as one of the essential factors modulating phytoplankton growth. Previous experimental studies of algal growth have been conducted at the macroscopic level, and direct observation at the cell scale has been lacking. In this study, an algal-cell dynamic continuous observation platform (ACDCOP) is proposed with a parallel-plate flow chamber (PPFC) to capture cellular growth images which are then used as input to a computer vision algorithm featuring a pre-trained backpropagation neural network to quantitatively evaluate the volumes and volumetric growth rates of individual cells.

This study investigates the performance evolution and degradation mechanisms of electrolytic manganese residue (EMR) based grouting materials subjected to wet-dry cycles in three distinct environments: pure water (PW), karst groundwater (KG), and EMR leachate (EL). Results demonstrate that material durability is significantly influenced by both environmental exposure conditions and compositional characteristics.

Leukemia, as the second most prevalent hematological malignancy, could disrupt the production of healthy blood cells in the bone marrow, leading to anemia, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia, and constitutes a significant global health burden. Chemotherapy remains a cornerstone of leukemia treatment, but drug resistance and severe adverse effects are the main culprits for its failure in treating leukemia, thereby creating an urgent imperative to develop innovative anti-leukemia agents. Hydroxamic acid derivatives, recognized as prominent histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors, represent a promising class of agents in leukemia therapy, leveraging epigenetic modulation, multi-target activity, and synergistic potential to address unmet drug resistance and toxicity needs.

The highest annual concentrations of HMs (80.7 ng m) were observed in the northeastern TP (Qinghai Lake), while the highest annual concentration of EC (1.

This study aimed to examine the role of mitochondrial morphology and function, particularly mitochondria-associated endoplasmic reticulum membranes (MAMs), in sunitinib-induced hypertension.
Methods: Both in vitro and in vivo experiments performed to assesse reactive oxygen species (ROS), nitric oxide (NO), endothelium-dependent vasorelaxation, systemic blood pressure, and mitochondrial function in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and C57BL/6 mouse aortic endothelial cells, under vehicle or sunitinib treatment condition.
With the growing need for precise campus electricity management, understanding load patterns is crucial for improving energy efficiency and optimizing energy use. However, detailed electricity load data for campus buildings and their internal equipment is often lacking, hindering research. This paper introduces an energy consumption monitoring dataset from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) campus in Hong Kong, comprising data from over 1400 meters across more than 20 buildings and collected over two and a half years.

The reaction of 3 with CO yielded a trimeric carbonate complex [{LGa(CO)}{μ-K(THF)}] (4) and a dinuclear oxo-carbonate complex [K(THF)][LGa(μ-CO)(μ-O)GaL] (5) in one pot through reductive disproportionation of CO. For CS, two ethenetetrathiolate gallium complexes, [M(Solv)][LGa(μ-CS)GaL] (M=Na, Solv=THF, 6; M=K, Solv=DME, 7), were obtained via reductive coupling of CS.

Most existing solid waste management systems, are designed with a top-down approach, covering multiple industries and sectors. However, these systems often fail to effectively manage potentially viral solid waste in household waste, which impedes effective solid waste management during public health emergencies and increases the risk of viral outbreaks.

In the face of escalating urban pluvial floods exacerbated by climate change, conventional roof systems fall short of effectively managing precipitation extremes. This paper introduces a smart predictive solution: the Smart Internal Drainage Roof (SIDR) system, which leverages forecasted data to enhance the mitigation of pluvial floods in Central Business District (CBD) areas. Unlike traditional approaches, SIDRs utilize a synergistic combination of Rule-based Control (RBC) and Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithms, tailored to optimize the operational efficiency of both grey and green roofs.

Heteroleptic, bimetallic (Mg/K) cyclopentadienyl complexes (2-4) were synthesized by the reaction of the Mg-Mg-bonded compound [K(THF)][LMg-MgL] (1, L = [(2,6-iPrCH)NC(CH)]) with cyclopentadiene derivatives, 6,6-dimethylfulvene, 6-(dimethylamino)fulvene, or 1,2,3,4-tetramethyl-1,3-cyclopentadiene. The reactions proceed through diverse pathways, including hydrogen abstraction, C-C coupling, and dehydrogenation, depending on the property of the polyene substrate, thus providing an access to alkali/alkaline earth metal cyclopentadienyl complexes.

The 'extreme' emission abatement during the lockdown (from the end of 2019 to the early 2020) provided an experimental period to investigate the corresponding source-specific effects of aerosol. In this study, the variations of source-specific light absorption (b) and direct radiative effect (DRE) were obtained during and after the lockdown period by using the artificial neural network (ANN) and source apportionment environmental receptor model. The results showed that the b decreased for all sources during the two periods.

The α-diimine-ligated dimagnesium(I) compound [K(thf) ] [LMg-MgL] (1, L=[(2,6-iPr C H )NC(Me)] ) displays diverse reactivities toward carbodiimides (RN=C=NR) with different R substituents. In the reaction of 1 with Me SiNCNSiMe , one of the easily leaving trimethylsilyl groups is lost to yield the Me SiNCN moiety that either bridges two Mg centers (2) or terminally coordinated (3). In contrast, with the similarly bulky tBuNCNtBu, the carbodiimide inserts into Mg-Mg bond with accompanying C-H activation of a ligand or solvent (products 4 and 5).
