: Decision-making regarding radiotherapy techniques for patients with nasopharyngeal cancer requires a comparison of photon and proton plans generated using planning software, which requires time and expertise. We developed a fully automated decision tool to select patients for proton therapy that predicts proton therapy (XT) and photon therapy (PT) dose distributions using only patient CT image data, predicts xerostomia and dysphagia probability using predicted critical organ mean doses, and makes decisions based on the Netherlands' National Indication Protocol Proton therapy (NIPP) to select patients likely to benefit from proton therapy. : This study used 48 nasopharyngeal patients treated at the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.

Thyroid cancer remains difficult to treat due to poor prognosis and drug resistance. Germacrone, a sesquiterpenoid from Curcuma longa, exhibits antitumor activity by modulating the PI3K/AKT-FOXO3 pathway. Here, we developed a responsive drug delivery system (1-CS-2-POSS@Germacrone) by modifying carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) with conjugated units (compound 1) and Jasminum sambac extract (compound 2), and stabilizing it with polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS).

Aberrant expression and subcellular location of innate sensors in cancer cells, such as Toll-like receptors (TLRs), correlates with pro-tumoral inflammation and cancer progression, but the mechanism is still largely unknown. Deciphering the proinflammatory mediators in tumor microenvironment will contribute to the development of cancer therapeutics. By using immunohistochemistry in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and multiple other cancer samples, here we found that cancer cell TLR3, a well-known cytoplasmic dsRNA sensor, translocated to the nucleus especially upon chemotherapy stress.

Objectives: To explore the mechanism of Decoction (SSD) for inhibiting growth of gastric cancer xenografts in nude mice.

Methods: Network pharmacology analysis was conducted to identify the common targets of SSD and gastric cancer cell ferroptosis, and bioinformatics analysis and molecular docking were used to validate the core targets. In the cell experiment, AGS cells were treated with SSD-medicated serum, Fer-1 (a ferroptosis inhibitor), or both, and the changes in cell viability, ferroptosis markers (ROS, Fe and GSH), expressions of P53, SLC7A11 and GPX4, and mitochondrial morphology were examined.

Background: Insulin resistance during pregnancy, while physiologically adaptive to enhance fetal nutrient supply, becomes pathological when excessive, contributing to low birth weight (LBW). The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, a biomarker of insulin resistance, predicts gestational complications, but its pathways to birth weight disparities remain unclear. This study investigates whether and to what extent first-trimester TyG index influences birth weight through preterm birth and gestational complications.

Background: For magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), a short acquisition time and good image quality are incompatible. Thus, reconstructing time-resolved volumetric MRI (4D-MRI) to delineate and monitor thoracic and upper abdominal tumor movements is a challenge. Existing MRI sequences have limited applicability to 4D-MRI.

Magnetic resonance imaging-guided adaptive radiotherapy (MRIgART) is a promising technique for long-course radiotherapy of large-volume brain metastasis (BM), due to the capacity to track tumor changes throughout treatment course. Contrast-enhanced T1-weighted (T1CE) MRI is essential for BM delineation, yet is often unavailable during online treatment concerning the requirement of contrast agent injection. This study aims to develop a synthetic T1CE (sT1CE) generation method to facilitate accurate online adaptive BM delineation.
