Biomarkers play a pivotal role in disease diagnosis, therapeutic efficacy evaluation, prognostic assessment, and drug screening. However, the trace concentrations of these markers in complex physiological environments pose significant challenges to efficient detection. It is necessary to avoid interference from non-specific signals, which may lead to misjudgment of other substances as biomarkers and affect the accuracy of detection results.

With the extensive use of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) in electrochemical energy storage systems and electric vehicles, their safety concerns have gradually emerged. Once LIBs undergo thermal runaway (TR), they can potentially trigger fire and explosion accidents, presenting substantial safety hazards. Regarding the issue that LIBs may experience TR due to external fires or other high-temperature conditions, the study of their thermal runaway tolerance characteristics under different degrees of external thermal radiation triggering conditions is of great significance in guiding the safe design and operation of LIB systems.

The bioprocess of recycling polyethylene terephthalate (PET) has been extensively studied; however, challenges remain due to its process complexity, low enzymatic performance, and high costs. Here, we devised a strategy termed the Integrated Self-Assembling Multi-Enzyme Display Platform (ISA-MEDP) to directly and efficiently degrade postconsumer PET (pc-PET). We developed a novel surface display system for the unconventional and robust yeast Candida tropicalis, enabling FAST-PETase and MHETase to be functionally anchored onto the cell wall.

Background: Thoracic aortic dissection (TAD) is a fatal cardiovascular disease characterized by vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) phenotypic remodeling and inflammation. Cannabinoid 1 (CB1/Cnr1) receptor has been implicated in cardiovascular diseases, but its role in TAD and its downstream signaling remains unclear. Genistein (Gen), an isoflavone abundant in legumes, has demonstrated promising therapeutic potential in cardiovascular diseases such as vascular calcification, hypertension, and atherosclerosis due to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and metabolic regulatory properties.

Cells adapt to nutrient limitation by activating catabolic and inhibiting anabolic pathways, yet prolonged stress may lead to cell death. How cells orchestrate metabolic adaptation and cell death to nutrient stress is poorly understood. We conduct a genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 screen to identify regulators in glucose-starvation-induced cell death and find a group of genes in lysosomal pathway is enriched following glucose starvation.

As a family member of receptor tyrosine kinases, mesenchymal-epithelial transition receptor (Met) promotes cell proliferation and tumor metastasis by binding to growth factors to form specific dimers. The sensitive and efficient detection of Met dimerization and monomerization is essential in medical diagnosis and intervention. Herein, we proposed a visual method for Met dimerization by using a single stranded DNA named Met-Apt-G4 (MA), which contains a Met aptamer and G-quadruplex precursor sequences.

Preterm birth (PTB) significantly contributes to maternal and perinatal mortality and lifelong morbidity. While large language models (LLM) offer considerable potential for disease risk prediction and early detection, their application to PTB prediction using multi-omics data remains limited. We developed a novel transformer-based architecture for integrating cell free (cfDNA) and cfRNA sequencing data for PTB risk prediction.

This study explores the coupled effects of warming and uranium exposure on marine microbial communities and assesses their potential impact on shellfish toxicity. Different temperature conditions (20 °C and 30 °C) and uranium exposure levels (a controlled setting, 25 μM, and 50 μM) were simulated in an artificial climate chamber. The results indicate that the coupling of warming and uranium exposure significantly altered the water system's properties, including its pH, dissolved oxygen, redox potential, and conductivity.

Mitochondria-driven histone lysine succinylation is emerging as a critical signaling system that links cellular metabolism to the pathogenesis of diseases, including cancer. Here, we report that a global increase in protein/histone succinylation is associated with mitochondrial tricarboxylic acid cycle defects in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Depletion of the succinyl-coenzyme A (CoA) synthetase alpha subunit SUCLG1 causes protein/histone hypersuccinylation in leukemia cells, which impairs cell proliferation and leukemia progression in xenograft models.

A polarization beam splitter (PBS) is a key device for controlling the polarization state of light in photonic integrated circuits (PICs). In this paper, a compact TM-pass/TE-divide PBS based on a thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) and grating-assisted contra-directional coupler (GACDC) is proposed. The device makes the contra-directional coupling satisfy the phase-matching condition by etching the corrugated strip waveguide on the waveguide sidewall.

The generalized Brillouin zone (GBZ) is highly successful in characterizing the topology and band structure of non-Hermitian systems. However, its applicability ischallenged in spatially inhomogeneous settings, where the non-locality of non-Hermitian pumping competes with Wannier-Stark localization and quantum interference, potentially leading to highly non-exponential state accumulation. To transcend this major conceptual bottleneck, a general phase-space GBZ formalism is developed that encodes non-Bloch deformations in both position and momentum space, such as to accurately represent spatially inhomogeneous non-Hermitian pumping.
