Objectives: To investigate the effect of interferon-λ1 (IFN-λ1) on glucocorticoid (GC) resistance in human bronchial epithelial cells (HBECs) stimulated by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
Methods: HBECs were divided into five groups: control, dexamethasone, IFN-λ1, RSV, and RSV+IFN-λ1. CCK-8 assay was used to measure the effect of different concentrations of IFN-λ1 on the viability of HBECs, and the sensitivity of HBECs to dexamethasone was measured in each group.
Background: Ischemic stroke is a disease in which local ischemia and hypoxia of brain tissues are caused by obstruction of blood vessels in the brain, which in turn triggers brain tissue damage and neurological dysfunction. Recent studies have made significant progress in understanding the role of exosomes in ischemic stroke. Exosomes exhibit anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, anti-apoptotic, angiogenic, and neuroregenerative effects, as well as glial scar reduction and drug delivery effects in ischemic stroke.

In this study, 287 patients with acute stroke were selected from the Second People's Hospital of Hunan Province and divided into a control group (129 cases, before lean management) and an experimental group (158 cases, after lean management). Lean management measures included establishing fast transfer channels, information management, optimisation of the centrifuge configuration, priority management, personnel training, use of the 6 S method, and visual management to optimise the process.

Herein, a colorimetric/fluorescent dual-mode sensor based on rhodamine B-aluminum complex (RhB-Al) has been developed for the detection of trace water in methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, and 1-butanol. The RhB-Al complex demonstrates rapid response (< 10 s), high sensitivity (detection limits [v/v]): 0.

The conventional epigenetic modification on DNAzyme may pave a new way for the study of catalytic properties. Herein, the most abundant and best characterized modifications 5-methylcytosine (5mC) and -methyladenosine (m6A) are introduced into the central catalytic core and stem sequence of 8-17 DNAzyme to evaluate the cleavage activity.

In this study, we observed that across multiple clinical cohorts and a variety of mouse models, the presence of osseous metastases induces ICB resistance in extraosseous tumors. Mechanistically, this long-distance communication is mediated by osseous tumor-conditioned osteoclasts producing osteopontin (OPN).

Methods: Discarded synovial tissue collected from patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty at our hospital was digested with type I collagenase. Primary culture was performed on three to four generations of fibroblasts, which were treated with high, medium, and low concentrations of Tongluo Zhitong formula.

Objective: Researchers have proposed a novel surgical treatment for moderate diabetic foot ulcer: tibial periosteal distraction (TPD) which could improve affected limb microcirculation. We aimed to describe the method and therapeutic effects of this technique.
Methods: We provided a technical guide to perform TPD surgery for the treatment of moderate diabetic foot ulcer of who had been treated in our department.
Background: Adenovirus (ADV) pneumonia in children is a significant contributor to the occurrence of post-infectious bronchiolitis obliterans (BO). Heparin sodium has known anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and tissue repair properties. However, its role in treating BO after ADV infection remains unclear.

Methods: Eighty-six patients with pathologically confirmed gastric adenocarcinoma were included in this study. All patients underwent a whole-body 18F-FDG PET/CT scan before treatment.

Objectives: To investigate the effects of propranolol on the proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and tube formation ability of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC), as well as its impact on the expression of sex-determining region Y-box 18 (SOX18), matrix metalloproteinase-7 (MMP-7), and vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA).
Methods: HUVEC were treated with different concentrations of propranolol, and cell viability was assessed using the CCK-8 method to determine the optimal concentration and treatment duration. The experiment consisted of a control group and groups treated with different concentrations of propranolol (50, 100, 150 μmol/L).

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are highly heterogeneous, and different EV subpopulations from various origins mediate different biological effects. The separation of different subpopulations of EVs from mixtures is critical but challenging. Epididymosomes are secreted by the epididymal epithelium and play a key role in sperm maturation and function.

A 2-year-and-10-month-old boy presented with multiple masses in the neck and chest for over 3 months. The child had a history of unstable walking, with hard lumps visible at the injury sites after falls, which would resolve on their own. Following a recent injury, a mass was discovered in the posterior neck, protruding above the skin surface and accompanied by limited joint movement.

Design: This study involves a detailed case analysis of a family with history of citrullinemia type 1, focusing on the use of PGT for monogenic diseases (PGT-M). The genetic variants were identified using ACMG guidelines, and PGT was employed to prevent the inheritance of these variants.
Objective: Chinese physicians developed the Tibial Transverse Transport (TTT) technique to treat diabetic foot ulcers with more than 90% effective rate. But this method still could not avoid the in-hospital death of patients. This study adopted a case-control study to explore the risk factors of in-hospital death in elderly patients with chronic ischemic diabetic foot after receiving TTT treatment.

Methods: The clinical data of 51 cases with anterior talofibular ligament injury were retrospectively analyzed, in which 23 patients were treated by arthroscopic-modified Broström surgery (arthroscopic surgery group) and 28 patients were treated by open-modified Broström surgery (open surgery group). The time to surgery, hospital stay, visual analog scale (VAS) scores of ankle pain, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) ankle and hindfoot scores, and incidence rate of complications were compared between the two groups.

Objectives: To study the role of bronchoscopy in slide tracheoplasty.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the diagnosis and treatment of four children with tracheal stenosis admitted to Hunan Provincial People's Hospital from 2017 to 2020. The role of bronchoscopy was summarized in the preoperative evaluation, intraoperative positioning and measurement, and postoperative wound evaluation and treatment during slide tracheoplasty.
Background: Post-infectious bronchiolitis obliterans (PIBO) is the most common sequelae in children with adenovirus pneumonia (ADVP). However, there are few studies on the risk factors for PIBO occurrence. This study aims to investigate the risk factors for PIBO in pediatric patients with severe ADVP, especially after invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV), as well as to build a nomogram prediction model.

Mental illness is a significant global health issue with a steady prevalence. High heritability is suspected, but genome-wide association studies only identified a small number of risk genes associated with mental disorders. This 'missing inheritance' can be partially explained by epigenetic heredity.

Distraction osteogenesis mediates new bone formation and angiogenesis in the bone itself and the surrounding tissues. Recently it was reported that tibial cortex transverse transport (TTT) was associated with neovascularization and increased perfusion at the foot in patients with recalcitrant DFUs and facilitated healing and limb salvage.

Much progress has been made in determining that paternal environmental exposures can remodel their spermatozoa small noncoding RNAs (sncRANs) and, in turn, affect the phenotypes of their offspring. Studies have shown that changes in the spermatozoa sncRNAs profile occur during passing through the epididymis. Due to the absence of transcription and translation in the epididymis, spermatozoa remodel their sncRNAs profile through communication with the epididymal microenvironment.

Patients who develop heart failure (HF) after an acute myocardial infarction (AMI) are at higher risk of adverse fatal and nonfatal outcomes. Studies have shown sacubitril/valsartan can further reduce the risk of cardiovascular death or hospitalization for heart failure by 20% compared with enalapril. At the same time, its tolerance and safety are better.
