Background: Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), including ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD), are chronic gastrointestinal disorders with an increasing global prevalence and significant healthcare impact. The exact etiology of this condition remains unclear. Neutrophils play a critical role in IBD pathogenesis.

Phomopsis liquidambaris B3, a broad-spectrum endophytic fungus, significantly improves plant nitrogen uptake and growth under nitrogen-limited conditions. In this study, we identified a small secreted protein, PlSSP, which localizes to the cytoplasmic matrix of host cells and modulates plant immune responses.

A previous study indicated that endophytic fungus can improve the drought resistance of peanuts, which is related with the root arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) community; however, how root endophytes mediate AMF assembly to affect plant drought resistance remains unclear. Here, we explored the mechanism by which endophytic fungus recruits AMF symbiotic partners via rhizodeposits to improve host drought resistance.

Aim: To describe the multimodal imaging features, treatment, and outcomes of patients diagnosed with adult-onset Coats disease.
Methods: This retrospective study included patients first diagnosed with Coats disease at ≥18 years of age between September 2017 and September 2021. Some patients received anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy (conbercept, 0.
Plant-associated microbiomes play important roles in plant health and productivity. However, despite fruits being directly linked to plant productivity, little is known about the microbiomes of fruits and their potential association with fruit health. Here, by integrating 16S rRNA gene, ITS high-throughput sequencing data, and microbiological culturable approaches, we reported that roots and fruits (pods) of peanut, a typical plant that bears fruits underground, recruit different bacterial and fungal communities independently of cropping conditions and that the incidence of pod disease under monocropping conditions is attributed to the depletion of Bacillus genus and enrichment of Aspergillus genus in geocarposphere.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFungal endophytes play critical roles in helping plants adapt to adverse environmental conditions. The root endophyte Phomopsis liquidambaris can promote the growth and disease control of peanut plants grown under monocropping systems; however, how such beneficial traits are produced is largely unknown. Since the plant endophytic microbiome is directly linked to plant growth and health, and the composition of which has been found to be potentially influenced by microbial inoculants, this study aims to clarify the roles of root endophytic bacterial communities in P.

Yeast extract (YE) is a lower-price elicitor and can efficiently promote metabolite synthesis. In this study, the bioreactor-cultured ARs were treated with YE in a suspension culture system to investigate the elicitation effect of YE on flavonoid accumulation, serving for further industrial production.

Objective: Treatment of burn wound healing involves infection, nutrition, psychology and rehabilitation, and proper nutritional support can promote wound healing, enhance immune function and reduce the incidence of complications. This study aimed to investigate the effects of feed containing yak meat on scalded rats' body condition and wound healing.
Methods: Adopting a two-factor factorial design, the growth performance, food intake, body weight, and Lee's index of rats were measured.
Nakai is a traditional medicine that has been confirmed to exert effective antioxidant and anti-inflammatory functions, and is used for the treatment of different disorders. However, its potential beneficial effects on drug induced hepatotoxicity and relevant molecular mechanisms remain unclear. This study investigated the protective effect and further elucidated the mechanisms of action of on liver protection.

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is clinically divided into 5 major types, characterized by elevation in pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP) and pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR), finally leading to right heart failure and death. The pathogenesis of this arteriopathy remains unclear, leaving it impossible to target pulmonary vascular remodeling and reverse the deterioration of right ventricular (RV) function. Different animal models have been designed to reflect the complex mechanistic origins and pathology of PH, roughly divided into 4 categories according to the modeling methods: non-invasive models in vivo, invasive models in vivo, gene editing models, and multi-means joint modeling.

Background: With the development of radiological technologies, radiotherapy has been gradually widely used in the clinic to intracranial tumours and become standardised. However, the related central nervous system disorders are still the most obvious complications after radiotherapy. This study aims to quantify the effectiveness of anlotinib, a small molecule inhibitor of multiple receptor tyrosine kinases, in mitigating acute phase of radiation-induced brain injury (RBI) in a mouse model.

Methods: The experimental materials were obtained by bioreactor co-culture technology and used in the activity research. In this study, mouse macrophages induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) were used as model.
Our previous study found that mutations in the PTGIS gene contributed high susceptibility to pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). We have generated disease-specific induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines from a PAH patient carrying the heterozygous c.1339 G > A mutation in PTGIS gene.

Objectives: Limited therapeutic options exist for treating severe infections caused by multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extensively drug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria (GNB). In this study, the activity of colistin (COL) as monotherapy and in combination with other antibiotics against Acinetobacter baumannii in vitro was investigated. In addition, the efficacy of intravenous colistimethate sodium (CMS) was evaluated in a murine model of urinary tract infection (UTI) induced by MDR Escherichia coli.

The results showed that the degradation efficiency of various MXs varied with the number and position of the methyl groups on the molecule (, xanthine > 7-methylxanthine ≈ theobromine > caffeine > theophylline > 1-methylxanthine). Multiple MX catabolism pathways coexisted in strain CT25, and a different pathway would be triggered by various MXs.
