Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is clinically divided into 5 major types, characterized by elevation in pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP) and pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR), finally leading to right heart failure and death. The pathogenesis of this arteriopathy remains unclear, leaving it impossible to target pulmonary vascular remodeling and reverse the deterioration of right ventricular (RV) function. Different animal models have been designed to reflect the complex mechanistic origins and pathology of PH, roughly divided into 4 categories according to the modeling methods: non-invasive models in vivo, invasive models in vivo, gene editing models, and multi-means joint modeling. Though each model shares some molecular and pathological changes with different classes of human PH, in most cases the molecular etiology of human PH is poorly known. The appropriate use of classic and novel PH animal models is essential for the hunt of molecular targets to reverse severe phenotypes.

Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is a devastating neurological disease, and one of the primary drivers of morbidity after aneurysm rupture is the phenomenon of delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI). Significant knowledge has been gained over the past two decades of the impact of neuroinflammation in DCI; and neutrophils are now believed to play a major role. There is significant human subject data showing the rise of neutrophil related inflammatory markers and neutrophil's association with poor outcome after aSAH, but as of yet no trials involving human subjects have been done specifically targeting neutrophils.

Background/aims: Ubiquitin D (UBD), a member of the ubiquitin-like modifier (UBL) family, is significantly overexpressed in various cancers and is positively correlated with tumor progression. However, the role and underlying mechanisms of UBD in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) remain poorly understood. This study aimed to investigate the effects of UBD knockdown on the progression of RA.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and underlying mechanism of advanced optimal pulse technology intense pulsed light (AOPT) in low-energy triple-pulse long-width mode (AOPT-LTL) for melasma treatment.
Methods: An in vivo guinea pig model of melasma was established through progesterone injection and ultraviolet B radiation. Three sessions of AOPT-LTL treatment were performed weekly.

Cardiac arrest (CA) is a critical condition in the field of cardiovascular medicine. Despite successful resuscitation, patients continue to have a high mortality rate, largely due to post CA syndrome (PCAS). However, the injury and pathophysiological mechanisms underlying PCAS remain unclear.

Background: The long-term clinical efficacy of intraportal islet transplantation is hampered by islet loss due to inflammation, oxidative stress, and insufficient vascularization. This study explores the venous sac as an alternative implantation site for islet transplantation in large animal models.
Methods: An immunosuppressed, diabetic cynomolgus monkey received allogeneic islet implants in its mesenteric venous sac, with metabolic assessments over 112 days.
