Allergic rhinitis (AR), a globally prevalent immune-mediated inflammatory condition, is still an incurable disease. In the present study, we have validated the impact of the Kelch-like ECH associated protein 1 (Keap1)-related oxidative stress and inflammatory response in clinical AR patient peripheral blood and nasal swab samples, emphasizing the biological relevance of Keap1 and AR. Targeting Keap1 -nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) related anti-oxidative stress may be effective for AR intervention.

This study aimed to develop noninvasive, deep learning-enhanced computed tomographic angiography (CTA) models for early and accurate FVH prediction.
Methods: This multi-centre retrospective study included 184 cirrhotic patients (FVH: n = 107, non-FVH: n = 77) enrolled from December 2014 to May 2022.
The presence of gut microbiota-brain-axis has been widely reported. However, few studies have focused on uncovering the potential associations during a time-period that our brain and gut microbiota undergo rapid maturation. We evaluated the potential associations between characteristics of gut microbiota and cognition and temperament using an accelerated longitudinal design in typically developing children over 0-3 years of age.

Metal-halide perovskite narrowband photodetectors offer a low-cost opportunity to detect specific signals covering a broad spectrum directly. However, the thickness of charge collection narrowing mechanism photodetectors increases recombination, resulting in performance bottlenecks. Here, we demonstrate amplified narrowband photodetectors that combine perovskite single-crystal absorbers and organic multiplication layers.

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are hazardous, persistent organic pollutants that are widely used industrially. Although the use of PCBs is banned in many countries, they are still present at trace levels in food and the environment. PCBs are highly chemically stable and lipophilic; hence, they are easily enriched and accumulate in the human body through milk and dairy products.

Organic semiconductors exhibit significant potential for next-generation optoelectronic technologies owing to their structural tunability and solution processability; nevertheless, as their bandgap decreases, the nonradiative recombination for either exciton or photogenerated charge-carriers increases, limiting short-wave infrared (SWIR) photoresponse, as governed by energy gap law. Here, a deuteration strategy is employed to universally reduce the nonradiative decay pathways of SWIR organic semiconductors, enhancing photodetector sensitivity. Compared to protonated L4, the rational deuterated molecule (BT-12D) maintains SWIR photoresponse to ∼1.

Understanding the causal effects of diseases on body organs through medical imaging is crucial for advancing research and improving clinical outcomes. This paper introduces a novel causal inference framework, Heterogeneous Causal Disease Pattern Detection (HCDPD), designed to map the complex causal pathways from early-stage diseases to latent disease patterns and their manifestation in organs as observed in later-stage medical images. HCDPD serves as a potential outcome framework for multivariate responses.
