Background: Cancer is a critical global health issue, and gut microbiota is considered a potential factor in the development of cancers. This review synthesizes evidence from Mendelian Randomization (MR) studies to explore the potential causal links between gut microbiota and cancer risk, thereby addressing the limitations inherent in observational studies.
Methods: We adopted a systematic literature review approach to search the PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases up to December 2023 for all MR studies examining the relationship between gut microbial diversity, strain-specific abundance, and cancer risk.
Information theory has been widely applied to quantify mapping regularities between orthography and phonology in alphabetic writing systems. However, their applicability to the Chinese writing system-marked by distinct mapping characteristics-remains underexplored. This study presents a comprehensive quantification of mapping regularities in the Chinese writing system using information-theoretic measures and validates their effectiveness.

The analysis, encompassing studies, countries, authors, institutions, keywords, and co-citation networks, was visualized using VOSviewer version 1.
Tumour cells possess a multitude of chemoresistance mechanisms, which could plausibly contribute to the ineffectiveness of chemotherapy. O-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) is an important effector protein associated with Temozolomide (TMZ) resistance in various tumours. To some extent, the expression level of MGMT determines the sensitivity of cells to TMZ, but the mechanism of its expression regulation has not been fully elucidated.

Objective: To understand how reviewers select and prespecify outcomes for systematic reviews (SRs), the authors report on the outcomes used in SRs of pressure injury (PI) intervention and treatment and evaluate their completeness of prespecification.
Data Sources: The authors searched four electronic databases for SRs involving PI prevention and/or treatments.
Study Selection: Inclusion criteria were SRs and meta-analyses evaluating interventions for preventing or treating PI.
Background: Gastric cancer (GC) is a major contributor to cancer-related mortality. Glycolysis plays a pivotal role in tumor microenvironment (TME) reprogramming. In this research, the functions of glycolysis-associated genes (GRGs) were evaluated to predict the outcome and reveal the characteristics of the immune microenvironment in individuals with stomach cancer.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 has seriously affected the whole society, and vaccines were the most effective means to contain the epidemic. This paper aims to determine the top 100 articles cited most frequently in COVID-19 vaccines and to analyze the research status and hot spots in this field through bibliometrics, to provide a reference for future research. We conducted a comprehensive search of the Web of Science Core Collection database on November 29, 2023, and identified the top 100 articles by ranking them from highest to lowest citation frequency.

We conducted a comprehensive literature search across several databases, including the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, UpToDate, ClinicalKey, DynaMed Plus and BMJ Best Practice. We spanned the search period from the inception of each database through October 1, 2023.

Subjects are divided into two groups and complete a Grammaticality Judgment and Correction Task through a behavioral experiment online. The results from multiple sources show that: (1) both L1 and L2 are sources of language transfers and the perceived crosslinguistic similarity of abstract structural properties serves as the main reason; (2) language transfers can be non-facilitative on L3 learning; (3) as L3 proficiency level improves, the less likely learners are to be affected by non-facilitative language transfers in L3 learning, but it may not disappear completely; (4) the background language with higher proficiency level is more likely to impose language transfers in L3 learning.

A retrospective study was conducted involving 1202 patients who underwent TP-MUF-PB from June 2016 to April 2023 at The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University (Suzhou, China). Clinical data and outcomes, including total costs, complications, and quality-adjusted life years (QALYs), were compared.

Background: Bone is among the most common metastasis sites in patients with advanced cancer. Approximately two-thirds of bone metastasis results in pain, the majority of which is moderate to unbearable pain, which seriously affects the quality of life of patients. With the development of ablation techniques, microwave ablation (MWA) has great potential to eliminate the pain caused by bone metastasis.

There are limited clinical trial data describing the efficacy of osimertinib combined with MET inhibition in EGFR T790M-mutant NSCLC patients with Met amplification.
Patient Concerns: A non-smoking 53-year-old male patient with lung adenocarcinoma underwent gefitinib, afatinib, and osimertinib combined with crizotinib treatment and developed different EGFR resistance mutations.
Background: Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) chemoresistance remains a challenge to oncologists. In our previous study, we demonstrated that the aberrant expression of metastasis-associated gene 1 () is associated with carcinogenesis and metastasis in MPM. The aim of the present study was to investigate the mechanism of and chemo-resistance in MPM.

In this study, we aimed to evaluate the frequency of exon 16 skipping in a large patient cohort and its function in cancer development.
Methods: A total of 38 680 Chinese patients with cancer whose tumour specimens and/or circulating cell-free DNA underwent targeted nextgeneration sequencing of cancer-related genes were retrospectively reviewed.

The intestinal barrier defends against pathogenic microorganism and microbial toxin. Its function is regulated by tight junction permeability and epithelial cell integrity, and disruption of the intestinal barrier function contributes to progression of gastrointestinal and systemic disease. Two simple methods are described here to measure the permeability of intestinal epithelium.
