Heart failure (HF) is a global public health challenge closely associated with oxidative stress and immune dysregulation. However, current therapeutic strategies for HF generally lack specific targeting to cardiac tissue, and the high perfusion rate of the heart further exacerbates insufficient drug accumulation at lesion sites, thus compromising therapeutic efficacy. Inspired by the barb-hook of Xanthium strumarium, FeO@UiO-66 is functionalized with tannic acid (TA) to obtain a dual-target nanocatalyst, termed FUTA.

Motor imagery (MI) is a cognitive process that allows individuals to mentally simulate movements without physical execution. However, the exploration of functional connectivity (FC) and lateralization mechanisms under different MI actions remains insufficiently understood. In this work, the common orthogonal basis extraction (COBE) algorithm was employed to isolate action-specific components by removing shared background components from the raw FC of the MI process.

The quantification of movable shale oil is crucial for the effective exploration and development of shale oil resources. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), a nondestructive and noninvasive technique, has become an indispensable tool for evaluating movable oil saturation. However, the small core sizes, high-frequency instrumentation, costly measurements, and significant losses of light hydrocarbons pose substantial challenges in accurately assessing movable oil.

Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, anisometropic children aged 6-12 years receiving atropine in the more myopic eye for at least 3 months were included in atropine group (n = 150), and baseline matched counterparts without atropine use were included in control group (n = 50). Changes in spherical equivalent refraction (SER), axial length (AL) and other biometric parameters between each visits were analyzed.
Gut Microbes

To overcome these challenges, we developed YTS109, a hypoimmune allogeneic T cell product engineered using CRISPR-Cas9 to knock out TRAC, PD1, HLA-A, HLA-B and CIITA, with a CD19-targeting synthetic TCR and antigen receptor (STAR) precisely integrated into the TRAC locus to enable physiological, TCR-like signaling. As part of a multi-disease cohort trial, this article includes all enrolled five patients with severe, refractory systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) complicated by lupus nephritis, who received lymphodepletion followed by YTS109 at 3 × 10 STAR⁺ T cells per kg body weight.

A protease-producing strain ( Z-1, ) isolated from marine sludge was used to hydrolyze mussels, producing Y-1, a hydrolysate with antioxidant activity. In this study, ultrafiltration, gel chromatography, and LC-MS/MS were employed to isolate and identify bioactive peptides from the hydrolysate.

Methods: 116 newborns with sepsis admitted to the neonatal department of our hospital from March 2021 to June 2023 were recruited as research subjects. According to the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) scoring system, newborns with scores of 1 to 18 were set into the mild sepsis group (n = 64), newborns with scores from 19 to 24 were set into the severe sepsis group (n = 52), and 8 patients died in the severe sepsis group (death group), 44 cases survived (survival group).
Background: Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder that imposes significant social burdens. Traditional treatmens, however, have limited effectiveness in addressing negative symptoms and cognitive deficits. Recent studies have indicated interventions promoting sensorimotor integration may offer potential benefits for schizophrenia treatment.

Vascular calcification (VC) and cardiac valve calcification (CVC) significantly contribute to the increased CVD incidence in uremic patients. This study sought to determine the relationship between serum sortilin protein and both VC and CVC in uremic patients.

The present study was aimed at exploring the mechanisms of CNV, hoping to provide new clues in finding the treatment target of CNV. ITRAQ approach was applied to analyze the proteins in choroidal neovascularization of CNV and normal rats.

Traditional adsorption studies face several limitations, such as a limited ability to predict adsorption results, inability to concurrently deal with the effects of multiple factors on adsorption outcomes, and fail to quantify the importance of these factors.

The imperative need for vaccines against this lethal virus is underscored by a lack of effective preventive measures. The results of this study yield notable advancements: the successful development of an SFTSV mRNA vaccine encoding the glycoprotein C (Gc) gene, achieving N-linked glycosylation in the expressed protein.

Sex separation in dioecious plants is triggered by the sex-determining gene, which primarily drives sexual dimorphism in reproductive organs. However, whether the plant sex-determining gene directly affects plant growth remains controversial. Here, we investigate the effect of the FERR gene, the sex-determining gene in Populus deltoides, on tree growth.

Overall, 92 patients were included, with the AF group comprising 70 patients and the control group comprising 20 (supraventricular tachycardic) patients. Preablation parameters were recorded, including baseline Gal-3 levels.

Active road noise control (ARNC) is an effective method for mitigating low-frequency noise in vehicle cabins. Previous work introduced a decoupling-whitening frequency domain filtered-error least mean square (DWFDFeLMS) algorithm, which exhibits rapid convergence characteristics for steady-state environments. However, uncorrelated disturbances significantly impact the convergence performance and stability of adaptive algorithms in practical applications.

Although xenotransplantation has been revolutionized by the development of genome-edited pigs, it is still unknown whether these pigs and their offspring remain genomically stable. Here, we show that GGTA1-knockout (GTKO) pigs accumulated an average of 1205 genome-wide genetic mutations, and their filial 1 (F1) offspring contained an average of 18 de novo mutations compared with wild-type controls and their parents. The majority of mutations were in regions annotated as intergenic regions, without altering protein functions, and were not located at predicted off-target mutation sites.

Objective: This study aimed to construct a nomogram to identify risk factors for malnutrition in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) and to explore the correlation between Ghrelin (GHRL), Myostatin (MSTN), C-reactive protein (CRP) and High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (Hs-CRP) to further elucidate the potential pathophysiological mechanisms linking malnutrition/sarcopenia and inflammation.
Methods: A total of 128 patients with congestive heart failure (CHF) admitted to the Cardiology Department of Guang'anmen Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, between February 2022 and February 2023, were included in the study. Based on their MNA-SF scale scores, the patients were classified into two groups: the malnutrition group (107 patients) and the non-malnutrition group (21 patients).
DTX-007 is a double-stranded small-interfering RNA that decreases the expression of the proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 protein through downregulation of its mRNA by conjugating with 3 N-acetylgalactosamine moieties to improve its hepatic distribution when administered via subcutaneous injection for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia. The nonclinical pharmacokinetics and the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion characteristics of DTX-007 were evaluated in both in vivo and in vitro systems. Plasma protein binding exhibited concentration dependence across all examined species, approximating 99% at clinically relevant concentrations in humans.
