Glioma, a primary malignant tumor of the central nervous system, remains a formidable challenge despite advancements in treatment. Immunotherapies hold promise, but their efficacy is hindered by the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). The nose-to-brain transport pathway offers a potential solution for bypassing the BBB and avoiding systemic absorption issues.

The Talbot effect resulting from a hybrid superposition of Hermite-Gaussian beams and Laguerre-Gaussian beams is studied theoretically. The traditional Talbot effect associated with periodic gratings can be explained by the superposition of a series of plane waves. More recently, it has been found that other beams (such as Airy beams and Bessel beams) can be used to construct the Talbot effect as well.

Alzheimer's disease (AD), a progressive neurodegenerative disorder, is associated with the complete loss of cognition, and its pathogenesis has been suggested to be closely linked to oxidative stress in the early stage. However, there is currently a lack of effective methods to provide direct evidence for dynamic development of the oxidative stress status during AD progression. Herein, through manipulating the multiple energy transfer between 4f electronic levels of lanthanide ions (Ln), we proposed an energy interception strategy to construct activatable NIR-IIb nanoprobe for visualizing oxidative stress level.

Oxidative stress-associated proximal tubular cells (PTCs) damage is an important pathogenesis of hypertensive renal injury. We previously reported the protective effect of VEGFR3 in salt-sensitive hypertension. However, the specific mechanism underlying the role of VEGFR3 in kidney during the overactivation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system remains unclear.

Heat shock cognate 70 (HSC70), a highly conserved molecular chaperone in the heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) family, plays an essential role in maintaining the homeostasis of the cellular environment. Furthermore, although previous studies have investigated potential function of HSC70 in innate antiviral immunity, further research is still required to fully elucidate its role. In this study, we cloned and characterized the HSC70 homolog gene from black carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus), which consists of 1950 nucleotides encoding 650 amino acids, migrates at approximately 71 kDa on SDS-PAGE, and is distributed in the cytoplasm.

Superoxide anion (O) is a highly reactive oxygen species (ROS) within tumor cells, and its abnormal concentrations can lead to various diseases such as cancer, inflammation, and premature aging disorders. Here, we obtained a series of bioluminescence resonance energy transfer (BRET) systems that can be used for sensitive and specific detection of O by varying the type and reaction time of quantum dots (QDs) and combining them with different concentrations of recombinant aequorin. Among them, the recombinant aequorin-conjugated CdTe/CdSe QDs had the highest conjugation efficiency as the Aeq-QD BRET sensor, which has a remarkable energy transfer efficiency of 35.

Hydrogels based on nanocomposites (NC) structure have acquired a great deal of interest, but they are still limited by relatively low mechanical strength, inevitably losing elasticity when applied below subzero temperatures, due to the formation of ice crystallization. In this study, an anti-freezing and mechanically strong Laponite NC organohydrogel was prepared by a direct solvent replacement strategy of immersing Laponite NC pre-hydrogel into ethylene glycol (EG)/water mixture solution. In the organohydrogel, a part of water molecules was replaced by EG, which inhibited the formation of ice crystallization even at extremely low temperatures.

Futibatinib (FUT) is a potent inhibitor of fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) 1-4 that is currently under clinical investigation for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. Unlike its predecessors, FUT possesses an acrylamide warhead, which enables it to bind covalently to a free cysteine residue in the FGFR kinase domain. However, it remains uninterrogated if this electrophilic α, -unsaturated carbonyl scaffold could also directly or indirectly engender off-target covalent binding to nucleophilic centers on other cellular proteins.
