Background: Patients with head and neck cancer often develop depressive symptoms during radiochemotherapy due to changes in saliva secretion, radiation-induced oral mucositis, and dysphagia. These symptoms significantly affect quality of life. Although existing nursing interventions provide some relief, they have limitations in improving swallowing function and developing coping strategies.

Methods: PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Embase databases were searched for observational studies and randomized controlled trials (RCT) from inception to 30 April 2024. Eligible studies should have compared the outcomes of women with singleton pregnancies who underwent UIC or HIC.
To study the effect of cold plasma (CP) on the refrigerator shelf life of coconut water, microorganism growth and diversity and physicochemical properties were investigated. Results indicated that CP treatment did not cause significant color changes in coconut water, with turbidity remaining lower than the control even after 6 days of storage. Enzymatic activity analysis revealed reduced polyphenol oxidase (PPO) and peroxidase (POD) levels in treated samples.

The Bcl-2 associated athanogene (BAG) family consists of co-chaperones involved in various cellular processes, including stress signaling, cell cycle regulation, and tumorigenesis. BAG5, a unique member of this family, contains multiple BAG domains, yet its role in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains largely unexplored.

This study aimed to investigate the dynamic changes in lipid profiles of plasma-activated water (PAW)-treated fillets over 18 days, using chemical analysis and UHPLC-MS-based lipidomics. The results showed that the PAW-treated group exhibited higher POV and TBARS values within 0-6 days, but significantly delayed their increase within 6-18 days.

To explore the genetic basis of these traits, we sequenced the whole genome of 289 samples from 8 Chinese local goat populations and Boer goats. Through variation detection and genetic diversity analysis, we identified 68,166,098 SNPs and assessed genetic diversity parameters such as nucleotide diversity, linkage disequilibrium, and homozygous regions (ROH).

To address this issue, we conducted a nested case-control study consisting of 49 PE cases and 329 controls from a Chinese prospective birth cohort and divided the participants into low/high and quartile groups based on hair metal concentrations. We used logistic regression models and a weighted quantile sum (WQS) model to investigate the independent and mixed associations between these eight heavy metals in maternal hair and the risk of PE.

Six conditions were applied: no magnetic field (NMF), static magnetic fields (SMF) at 1 and 3 mT, and alternating magnetic fields (AMF) at 1, 3, and 5 mT. Compared to NMF, MF-assisted freezing significantly reduced the phase transition time and improved physicochemical properties, myofibrillar protein stability, and ice crystal morphology.

This study first fabricates biodegradable zein-based nanofibers for active food packaging via green solution blow spinning, using zein/polyethylene oxide composites to enhance fiber uniformity and mechanical properties. Systematic modulation of acetic acid-water ratios and zein concentrations tailored nanofiber film characteristics.

We used three heating levels to obtain the gelatin (80 °C, 90 °C, 100 °C), and its physicochemical and gel characteristics were thoroughly examined. The results revealed that the extraction temperature significantly affected the yield, gel strength, amino acid composition, antioxidant activity, and microstructure of the gelatin.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess a novel lateral flow assay (LFA) for IgG detection in patients with non-neutropenic invasive aspergillosis (IA).
Methods: IgG LFA and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were performed in non-neutropenic IA patients and control group (proven community acquired pneumonia and healthy persons), respectively. The diagnostic performance of IgG LFA for IA was evaluated and compared with ELISA method.
Background: Postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) is the most prevalent and potentially life-threatening arrhythmia following thoracic surgery. This study aimed to construct and validate a predictive model for assessing POAF risk.
Methods: A meta-analysis was conducted to rank risk factors associated with POAF based on their respective risk ratios (RRs).
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of Multiple Micronutrient (MMN) Supplements during pregnancy in reducing the risk of anemia among pregnant women.
Method: A retrospective cohort study was conducted with the supplement of Folic Acid (FA) only and FA plus MMN groups. Data was collected through questionnaires during the first prenatal visit.
Purpose: To assess the practicality and utility of employing dual post-label delay (PLD) arterial spin labeling (ASL) in transient ischemic attack (TIA) individuals exhibiting Fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) vascular hyperintensity (FVH).
Materials And Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of clinical data from TIA patients presenting with unilateral severe atherosclerotic stenosis or obstruction of either the intracranial internal carotid artery or the middle cerebral artery. Participants were categorized into two groups based on the presence or absence of FVH: FVH positive and FVH negative.

The association of copper (Cu) with preterm birth (PTB) and its subtypes, spontaneous preterm birth (SPB) and iatrogenic preterm birth (IPB), are still unclear. In addition, previous studies suggested that serum lipid was associated with both Cu and PTB. Therefore, we explored the association of blood Cu in the first trimester with the risk of PTB and its subtypes, as well as the potential mediating effect of serum lipid using a nested case-control study.

Protein oxidation is a complex chemical process that pervades the entirety of the food domain. It is governed by two primary mechanisms: the direct oxidation by active entities and the indirect oxidation by secondary oxidation byproducts like lipid oxidation, influenced by many factors. The oxidation of proteins in livestock products readily occurs post-processing and storage through techniques such as freezing, cooking, ultrasonication, among others, leading to protein carbonylation and subsequent alterations in structure.

This study investigated the effects of plasma-activated water (PAW) assisted annealing and heat-moisture treatment (HMT) on the physicochemical, structural properties, and in vitro digestibility of Tartary buckwheat starch (TBS). The results showed that there were much aggregates on the surface of starch granules under annealing and HMT conditions, it was more pronounced when subjected in PAW. The modified starches showed higher R and pasting temperature, which led to reducing digestibility of TBS.
