Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of microscope-assisted modified lateral lumbar interbody fusion (micro-XOLIF) and to compare its impact on lumbar sagittal plane imaging parameters with extreme lateral interbody fusion (XLIF).
Methods: We retrospectively collected the data of patients who underwent XLIF and micro-XOLIF in our hospital. We compared general data, medical records, and imaging parameters of both groups, including lumbar sagittal balance and postoperative intervertebral height.
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease associated with age, prominently marked by articular cartilage degradation. In OA cartilage, the pathological manifestations show elevated chondrocyte hypertrophy and apoptosis. The mitochondrion serves as key energy supporter in eukaryotic cells and is tightly linked to a myriad of diseases including OA.

Epilepsy is a prevalent neurological disorder marked by sudden, brief episodes of excessive neuronal activity caused by abnormal electrical discharges, which may lead to some mental disorders. Most existing deep learning methods for epilepsy detection rely solely on unimodal EEG signals, neglecting the potential benefits of multimodal information. To address this, we propose a novel multimodal model, DistilCLIP-EEG, based on the CLIP framework, which integrates both EEG signals and text descriptions to capture comprehensive features of epileptic seizures.

Luteolin (LUT) belongs to a kind of flavonoid, which has protective effects on myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury. Sirt3 is located in mitochondria and interacts with Foxo3a to protect mitochondrial function against stress. Mitophagy is an important form of mitochondrial quality control.

Existing trust management schemes suffer from deficiencies such as strong reliance on infrastructure, insufficient capability for multi-dimensional trust evaluation, and vulnerability to collusion attacks. To address these issues, this paper proposes a group decision-making (GDM)-enabled dynamic trust management method, termed GDM-DTM, for low-altitude UAV networks.

Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) from human umbilical-cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSCs) hold promise for cartilage regeneration in osteoarthritis (OA). However, their therapeutic effectiveness is significantly limited by rapid clearance through blood and lymphatic vessels in the synovial tissue after intra-articular injection. This study aimed to enhance the chondrocyte-targeting ability and improve the cartilage repair potential of UCMSC-derived sEVs by conjugating them with a chondrocyte-affinity peptide (CAP) using copper-free click chemistry.

Long-term or lifelong urate-lowering therapy (ULT) stands as the primary management strategy. However, there is a significant risk of gout flares during ULT, and current methods have drawbacks, including side effects.

The effective and deep removal of unreactive sulfides to achieve ultra-low-sulfur or sulfur-free oils has recently attracted extensive attention. In this work, a series of UiO-66 based catalysts have been prepared facilely for the effective removal of unreactive sulfides. Here, the incorporation of nitro functional groups into UiO-66, along with the construction of defects, results in remarkable sulfur removal for dibenzothiophene (DBT), achieving oil with sulfur content of less than 1 ppm.

Results: In this study, we have developed a novel ratiometric near-infrared fluorescent probe for the detection of Hg. The probe TM-ND-Hg demonstrated a remarkable Stokes shift (358 nm), a rapid response time (within 1 min), excellent selectivity, stability, and ratiometric fluorescence changes from green to red.
N6-methyladenosine (mA) plays crucial roles in development and cellular reprogramming. During embryonic development, pluripotency transitions from a naïve to a primed state, and modeling the reverse primed-to-naïve transition (PNT) provides a valuable framework for investigating pluripotency regulation. Here, we show that inhibiting METTL3 significantly promotes PNT in an mA-dependent manner.

However, existing signature schemes for NDN-IoT face dual challenges: resource-constrained IoT terminals struggle with certificate management and computationally intensive bilinear pairings under traditional Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), while NDN routers require low-latency batch verification for high-speed data forwarding. To address these issues, this study proposes ECAE, an efficient certificateless aggregate signature scheme based on elliptic curve cryptography (ECC).

Industrial fungi are pivotal candidates for the production of a diverse array of bioproducts. To enhance their productivity, these strains are frequently subjected to genetic modifications. Following transformation, the selection of optimal production strains is critical; however, traditional screening methods often suffer from limitations in throughput and sensitivity.

From a climatic systems perspective, the interplay between temperature fluctuations and CO2 emissions remains underexplored. Based on the surface-level 1000 hPa atmospheric temperature (T) and CO2 concentration data for China from 2004 to 2020, with a spatial resolution of 3°×2°, this study introduces a multi-layer network framework with time-lag effects to investigate the interaction patterns between temperature and carbon concentration across regions in China.

While percutaneous vertebral augmentation (PVA) is an effective treatment for OVCF, adjacent vertebral fractures (AVF) often occur post-PVA, adversely affecting treatment outcomes. This study aims to develop a nomogram for predicting AVF risk using multicenter data to aid clinical decision-making for OVCF patients.

Clamping and removal of the nucleus pulposus (NP) are critical operations during transforaminal endoscopic lumbar discectomy. To meet the challenge of simulating the NP in real-time for better training output, an improved material point method is proposed to represent the physical properties of the NP and compute its deformation in real time. Corresponding volume rendering of the NP and its hosting bones are also presented.

At present, the regulatory role of thrombospondin-4 (TSP-4) in MI/RI has not been reported. A MI/RI mouse model was constructed, and primary cardiomyocytes were isolated.

A dysregulated inflammatory response and inflammation-associated cell death are central features of renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI). PANoptosis, is a recently recognized form of inflammatory programmed cell death characterized by key features of pyroptosis, apoptosis and necroptosis; however, the specific involvement of PANoptosis in renal IRI remains unknown. By using neutrophil extracellular trap (NETs)-depleted Pad4 mice, we found that NETs are essential for exacerbating tissue injury in renal IRI.

Sodium butyrate (NaB) has been shown to be highly effective in mitigating bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis; however, its specific impact on renal fibrosis and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study aims to elucidate the role and mechanism of NaB in renal fibrosis by using a mouse model of renal fibrosis induced through Unilateral Ureteral Obstruction (UUO) and folic acid (FA) administration.

Background: Gallbladder and biliary tract cancers (GBC and BTC) are highly malignant, with poor prognoses and substantial regional variability in the disease burden. Although advances in medical science have improved outcomes in high-income regions, low- and middle-income regions continue to face rising incidence and mortality rates owing to delayed detection and treatment. Understanding the global trends and risk factors of GBC and BTC is essential for targeted interventions to reduce disease burden.

Hepatic organoid cultures are a powerful model to study liver development and diseases in vitro. However, hepatocyte-like cells differentiated from these organoids remain immature compared to primary human hepatocytes (PHHs), which are the benchmark in the field. Here, we applied integrative single-cell transcriptome and chromatin accessibility analysis to reveal gene regulatory mechanisms underlying these differences.
