A Mediterranean-style diet (MED) can promote people lengthen the span of life and avoid atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) in primary prevention. Metabolic syndrome (MetS) can significantly reduce life expectancy and increase the risk of ASCVD. However, few studies have focused on the role of the Mediterranean diet in patients with MetS.

The quantitative detection of drug-resistance mutations in Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) is critical for determining the drug resistance status of a sample. We developed a drop-off droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) assay targeting all major isoniazid (INH)-resistant mutations. The ddPCR assay consisted of three reactions: reaction A detects mutations at S315; reaction B detects promoter mutations; and reaction C detects promoter mutations.

There is a lot of proof that gut microbiota (GM) and its metabolites have a significant impact on cardiovascular health. In recent decades, intricate impacts of GM on cardiac arrythmia have been identified as prospective approaches for its prevention, development, treatment, and prognosis.

This advances TPZ to transcatheter therapies for liver cancer, particularly in combination with drug-eluting microspheres. We describe methods for preparing and characterizing TPZ-loaded CalliSpheres microspheres (CSMTPZs) with regard to their properties as a chemoembolization agent, which includes 1) preparation of CSMTPZs and determination of drug loading level, 2) determination of TPZ release, 3) assessment of CSMTPZ size and appearance, and 4) determination of TPZ pharmacokinetics and intratumoral drug concentration .

Insulin resistance (IR) is the main cause of the high prevalence of AF in NAFLD patients. The triglyceride-glucose index (TyG) is a novel IR-related indicator implicated in the incidence and severity of NAFLD.

Although studies have shown a regulatory relationship between p53 and PHLDA1, the molecular mechanism is still unclear. Especially, the role of PHLDA1 in the process of apoptosis is still controversial.

Here, we propose an integrated approach involving mechanical activation, hydrothermal extraction, and deep eutectic solvents (DESs) multiple delignification for the efficient separation of bamboo powder. Among seven carboxylic acids based DESs, choline chloride (ChCl)-lactic acid (La) DES (1:1) is the most effective, with over 78.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to explore the frequency and profile of non-mosaic sex chromosome abnormalities detected in prenatal diagnosis over the past 10 years.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed pregnancies diagnosed with non-mosaic sex chromosome abnormalities between January 2012 and December 2021, using karyotyping and/or single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array. Maternal age, indications for testing, and outcomes were recorded.
Background And Purpose: Given that the intratumoral heterogeneity of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma may be related to the local control rate of radiotherapy, the aim of this study was to construct a subregion-based model that can predict the risk of local-regional recurrence, and to quantitatively assess the relative contribution of subregions.
Materials And Methods: The CT images, PET images, dose images and GTVs of 228 patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma from four different institutions of the The Cancer Imaging Archive(TCIA) were included in the study. Using a supervoxel segmentation algorithm called maskSLIC to generate individual-level subregions.
Zn -induced β-amyloid protein (Aβ) aggregation and microglia activation are the predominant contributors in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Regulating intracephalic excessive Zn is a promising therapeutic strategy for AD treatment. However, only inhibition of Zn is hardly to repair continuous damages caused by activated microglia.

Methods: Between January 2010 and December 2018, 226 patients who were diagnosed with uncomplicated TBAD and received TEVAR were analyzed retrospectively. The patients were divided into ≤5% oversizing (n=153) and >5% oversizing (n=73) groups.

Background: Accumulating evidence suggests that patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) have a significantly high risk of incident atrial fibrillation (AF). Systemic inflammation, metabolic disorders and oxidative stress could be the potential mechanisms by which NAFLD drives AF. Monocyte-to- high-density lipoprotein ratio (MHR) has emerged as a novel biomarker of inflammation and oxidative stress that has not been studied in AF with NAFLD patients.

Here, a phase-engineered water-air impedance matching metasurface is proposed and experimentally demonstrated for remote and efficient water-to-air eavesdropping. The judiciously designed metasurface with near-unity transmission efficiency, long monitoring distance, and high mechanical stiffness is capable of making the water-air interface acoustically transparent and, at the same time, freewheelingly patterning the transmitted wavefront.

Implant infections are difficult to cure by traditional antibiotic therapy due to bacterial biofilm-induced antibiotic tolerance and impaired immune responses. To efficiently treat implant infections, therapeutic agents need to kill bacteria and regulate the inflammatory response of immune cells during the biofilm elimination process. Herein, multifunctional smart hollow CuMoS nanospheres (H-CMS NSs) with pH-responsive enzyme-like activities were prepared for self-adaptively eliminating biofilms and regulating the inflammation of macrophages in implant infections.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFImmune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), such as programmed death-1 (PD-1), programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen 4 (CTLA-4) antibodies, etc, have revolutionized cancer treatment strategies, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). While these immunotherapy agents have achieved durable clinical benefits in a subset of NSCLC patients, they bring in a variety of immune-related adverse events (irAEs), which involve cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, endocrine and dermatologic system damage, ranging from mild to life-threatening. Thus, there is an urgent need to better understand the occurrence of irAEs and predict patients who are susceptible to those toxicities.

An important way to promote the environmental industry's goal of carbon reduction is to promote the recycling of resources. Membrane separation technology has unique advantages in resource recovery and advanced treatment of industrial wastewater. However, the great promise of traditional organic membrane is hampered by challenges associated with organic solvent tolerance, lack of oxidation resistance, and serious membrane fouling control.
