Understanding the relationship between deformation behavior and mechanisms at elevated temperatures is of great significance for applications of high-temperature titanium alloys. This study systematically investigates the plastic deformation behavior of Ti65 alloy under both room-temperature and high-temperature conditions through in situ tensile testing, combined with slip trace analysis, crystal orientation analysis, and geometrical compatibility factor evaluation. TEM observations and molecular dynamics simulations reveal that plastic deformation is predominantly accommodated by basal and prismatic slip systems with minimal pyramidal slip contribution at room temperature.

Experimental and Numerical Analysis of Bolted Repair for Composite Laminates with Delamination Damage.

Polymers (Basel)

October 2024

National Key Laboratory of Science and Technology on Advanced Composites in Special Environments, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin 150080, China.

Composite materials are widely used in aircraft due to the urgent need for high-quality structures in aerospace engineering. In order to verify the effectiveness of complex bolt repairs on composite structures, compression tests have been performed on three types (intact, damaged, and repaired) of composite plate specimens, and finite element simulation results of these three types' specimens were obtained. The experimental results show that for damaged composite laminates, the strength recovery after bolt repair can reach an impressive 107%, and the delamination propagation caused by over-buckling deformation is considered to be the main cause of failure, which also suggests that although bolt repair can improve the strength of the specimens, it has a limited ability to inhibit delamination propagation.

Formulating a course of action (COA) before a combat is crucial for operational command. Research in command and control (C2) artificial intelligence is currently focused on using intelligent auxiliary decision-making methods to implement COA. This paper proposes a COA planning method based on line of operation (LOO) and uses planning domain definition language (PDDL) to describe combat scenarios and COA.

Aerosol infrared stealth technology is a highly effective method to reduce the intensity of infrared radiation by releasing aerosol particles around the hot exhaust plume. This paper uses a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) two-phase flow model to simulate the exhaust plume fields of three kinds of engine nozzles containing aerosol particles. The Planck-weighted narrow spectral band gas model and the Reverse Monte Carlo method are used for infrared radiation transfer calculations to analyze the influencing factors and laws for the suppression of the infrared radiation properties of exhaust plumes by four typical aerosol particles.

Fixed-wing UAVs have shown great potential in both military and civilian applications. However, achieving safe and collision-free flight in complex obstacle environments is still a challenging problem. This paper proposed a hierarchical two-layer fixed-wing UAV motion planning algorithm based on a global planner and a local reinforcement learning (RL) planner in the presence of static obstacles and other UAVs.

In this paper, a novel input impedance analysis methodology based on Babinet's principle to broaden bandwidth is proposed, and a broadband multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) antenna system is designed, fabricated, and measured for fifth-generation (5G) and Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) 6E/7 mobile applications. By analyzing the input impedance of open-slot antennas and planar monopole antennas using numerical calculations, the characteristics of the input impedance can be obtained. We find that combining the two antenna types in parallel can significantly enhance the bandwidth.

State Key Laboratory of Structural Analysis, Optimization and CAE Software for Industrial Equipment, Department of Engineering Mechanics, International Research Center for Computational Mechanics, Dalian University of Technology, Dalian 116024, China.

Semiconductor chips on a substrate have a wide range of applications in electronic devices. However, environmental temperature changes may cause mechanical buckling of the chips, resulting in an urgent demand to develop analytical models to study this issue with high efficiency and accuracy such that safety designs can be sought. In this paper, the thermal buckling of chips on a substrate is considered as that of plates on a Winkler elastic foundation and is studied by the symplectic superposition method (SSM) within the symplectic space-based Hamiltonian system.

It is of great significance to develop analytic models on transient heat conduction of such an FEH in order to provide a rapid analysis and preliminary designs based on a rapid parameter analysis. In this study, an analytic model of transient heat conduction for bi-layered FEHs is proposed, which is solved by a novel symplectic superposition method (SSM).

A unique porous TiO with CoO nanoparticles anchored in (CoO@TiO) is prepared by a dual-templating method for promoting electromagnetic microwave absorption (EMA). The as-prepared CoO@TiO possesses a three-dimensional (3D) ordered macroporous TiO skeleton and plenty of mesopores, as well as small CoO nanoparticles that coexisted in the macropore walls of the TiO skeleton. The introduction of CoO can increase the magnetic loss as well as suppress impedance mismatch, resulting in the regulation of the EMA performance.

A Novel Design Method for Energy Absorption Property of Chiral Mechanical Metamaterials.

Materials (Basel)

September 2021

The State Key Lab of Digital Manufacturing Equipment and Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, 1037 Luoyu Road, Wuhan 430074, China.

In this paper, a full-cycle interactive progressive (FIP) method that integrates topology optimization, parametric optimization, and experimental analysis to determine the optimal energy absorption properties in the design of chiral mechanical metamaterials is proposed. The FIP method has improved ability and efficiency compared with traditional design methods due to strengthening the overall design, introducing surrogate models, and its consideration of the application conditions. Here, the FIP design was applied in the design of mechanical metamaterials with optimized energy absorption properties, and a chiral mechanical metamaterial with good energy absorption and impact resistance was obtained based on the rotation mechanism of metamaterials with a negative Poisson's ratio.
