Background And Aims: Previous studies have highlighted the significance of RNA-binding proteins and alternative splicing (AS) in the progression of complex diseases, but the specific involvement of AS in heart failure (HF) remains unclear. This study aimed to elucidate the role of RNA-binding motif single-stranded interacting protein 1 (RBMS1), an RNA-binding protein, in the development of HF by regulating AS and its effect on cardiac fibrosis.
Methods: The level of RBMS1 was investigated in the hearts of both HF patients and mice.

This study verifies that housing prices in China follow Zipf's law by analyzing the average housing prices in 200 Chinese cities between 2015 and 2023. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS) test further supports this conclusion. Furthermore, the study explores housing price trends in different city tiers and uses rank clocks to reveal price fluctuations, which is not captured by the Zipf's law.

In the mechanistic study, we studied the pyridine amide (PA)-directed 1-naphthylamine C-4/C-8 amination reaction in a Cu-catalyzed system with pyrazole as an oxidant and morpholine in an alkaline environment. We studied the three possible single-electron transfer (SET) pathways for the C-4 amination and found that the free radical-cation intermediate generated by the intermolecular SET step was more favorable. For the C-8 amination, the C8-H activation process occurs before the reaction with the cyclic amine, and the Cu complex formed by the base ion ligand makes the reaction easier.

Outer membrane (OM) proteins play a vital role in the physiology of Gram-negative bacteria, and outer membrane protein F (OmpF) is one of the most studied porins in . In this study, we have developed a comprehensive OM model with lipopolysaccharides (LPS), enterobacterial common antigen (ECA), and capsular polysaccharides (CPS) in the outer leaflet and with phospholipids in the inner leaflet. Using extensive all-atom molecular dynamics simulations of OmpF in this realistic asymmetric OM environment, we have investigated the structure and dynamics of OmpF within the OM and its interactions with the OM.

Excessive iron accumulation poses a significant threat to liver health, primarily through oxidative stress and autophagy dysregulation. α-Lipoic acid (ALA), a natural antioxidant with hepatoprotective properties, may alleviate iron-induced liver damage, but its underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. This study utilized male Sprague Dawley rats and BRL-3A cells to explore the protective effects of ALA against iron overload in vivo and in vitro, respectively.

Modern aero-engines need alloys that sustain both strength and ductility at high temperatures. However, conventional titanium alloys face inherent trade-offs between strength and ductility. In situ TiB-reinforced titanium matrix composites could fill this gap, but their texture evolution and hot-working mechanics are still poorly understood.

The elastic, mechanical, acoustic, and thermal properties of Ti3SiC2, Ti3IrC2, and Ti3AuC2 MAX phases were systematically investigated using first-principles calculations based on density functional theory. The computed lattice parameters and elastic, mechanical, and acoustic properties were consistent with existing experimental and theoretical findings, confirming the intrinsic mechanical stability of these MAX phases. Single-crystal elastic stiffness constants were used to derive polycrystalline elastic moduli, directional dependencies of bulk, shear, and Young's moduli, and anisotropic factors.

DNA logical circuits can be applied to accurate classification of cancer status, benefiting from their excellent biocompatibility and parallelism. However, the existing cancer diagnosis models based on DNA logic circuits mainly adopt a linear structure, which makes it difficult to fully capture the complex nonlinear distribution characteristics in the disease data. In addition, DNA logic circuits cannot directly sense the expression levels of microRNAs (miRNAs).

The spatiotemporal sequential treatment strategy of promoting rapid separation of charge carriers, amplifying oxidative stress, increasing the low content of intracellular Cu, enhancing cuproptosis, and cascading activation of immunotherapy is considered one of the most effective techniques for improving the comprehensive therapy of tumors. Herein, copper tungstate (CuWO₄, CWO) nanoparticles with ultrasmall bandgap (1.71 eV) is developed as both piezoelectric-catalysis agents and copper nanocarriers for synergistic sono-enhanced cuproptosis.

MoS-based composites have attracted considerable attention in catalysis owing to their exceptional catalytic properties. However, challenges such as severe nanosheets (NSs) aggregation and inherent difficulties in functionalization have significantly hindered their practical application. Herein, one-dimensional (1D) APTES microtubes decorated with MoS NSs (APTES@MoS) were synthesized through a self-template-directed synthesis approach.

Aqueous Zn-ion hybrid supercapacitors have shown extraordinary promise for electrochemical energy storage, due to low cost, high security, large power density and acceptable energy density. Rational optimization of electrodes and electrolytes has always been the key for boosting the electrochemical energy storage performances of aqueous Zn-ion hybrid supercapacitors. We propose a pH-decoupling Zn-ion hybrid supercapacitor based on a conjugated polyphthalocyanine (PPc) framework cathode and a Zn@Zn phthalocyanine (Pc) anode.

The compound CNI1, identified as a novel antitumor agent based on the cytisine N-isoflavones scaffold, and its series of cytisine N-isoflavones derivatives (CNI2, CNI3, and CNI4), were first isolated from bitter bean seeds, a traditional Chinese medicinal source, by our research team. Cellular activity assays combined with virtual screening targeting P-gp revealed that CNI1, along with the three cytisine N-isoflavones derivatives, CNI2, CNI3, and CNI4, exhibited significant multidrug resistance (MDR) reversal activity in breast cancer. Despite this promising outcome, the precise molecular mechanisms and key targets involved in the MDR reversal of these compounds remain to be elucidated.

The asymmetric Michael addition reactions of 1-pyrroline esters with β-fluoroalkyl alkenyl imides and dialkyl azodicarboxylates catalyzed by the AgOAc/Ph-phosferrox or CuOAc/(R)-BINAP complex have been developed. A series of chiral 1,5,5-trisubstituted pyrroline ester derivatives have been obtained in 53%-90% yields with 80%-99% ee's and all > 20:1 dr. The gram-scale synthesis and synthetic application of the chiral trifluoromethylated 1-pyrroline adducts were exhibited: the pyrrolizidin-3-one analogue was first synthesized with 94% ee and > 20:1 dr through two steps of hydrolysis and reductive cyclization; the pyrrolidine and lactam derivatives were also successfully provided under the reducing conditions of NaBHCN and Pd/C─H, respectively.
