Persistent bacterial infections remain a major challenge in wound management. Although drug-loaded wound dressings have gained increasing attention, their therapeutic efficacy is often hindered by uncontrolled drug release and a lack of electrical signal responsiveness. Herein, an antibacterial dressing (CCS-PC) with electroactivity and stimulus-responsive drug release properties was fabricated via electro-assembly, wherein chitosan and ciprofloxacin hydrochloride (CIP) were co-deposited onto polypyrrole (PPy)-coated gauze.

Melamine is an additive used fraudulently to enrich foods with nitrogen, particularly in the dairy industry. It is also known as the main metabolite or degradation phytosanitary product of cyromazine. However, the numerous incidents involving living beings in aquatic environments, children and pets fed with products made from melamine in China and certain African countries have led to distrust of melamine in food.

Fresh walnuts are prone to moisture loss and spoilage after harvest, leading to reduced appearance and sensory quality. In this study, a multifunctional chitosan (CS)-based film was fabricated by incorporating a bacterial cellulose/oregano essential oil (BC/OEO) Pickering emulsion, with hydrogen bonding promoting cohesive matrix integration. The film's physicochemical properties, along with its antimicrobial and antioxidant activities, were systematically evaluated.

The extraction methods of polysaccharides significantly affect their characteristics and functional properties. However, the impact of flash extraction and ultrasound-assisted extraction on the physicochemical properties and prebiotic effect of Lyophyllum decastes polysaccharides remains poorly understood. In this study, polysaccharides from Lyophyllum decastes were extracted using ultrasound-assisted and flash extraction methods, yielding the fractions LDP-R and LDP-S after purification, respectively.

The blocking interaction between p53 and its negative regulator MDM2 is an engaging therapeutic strategy for antitumor drug development, and there are several drug candidates of p53-MDM2 inhibitors in clinical trials. In the present study, novel drug conjugates of p53-MDM2 inhibitors and topoisomerase I (TOP1) inhibitors have been designed based on bioinformatics analysis results of ten tumor tissues. Among them, showed potent antiproliferative activity against three cell lines HCT116, SJSA-1, and A549, with the strongest p53-MDM2 and TOP1 inhibitory activity.

Challenges such as interfacial nonradiative recombination and halogen phase separation have impeded the progress of blue PeLEDs. Here, a triammonium citrate layer is buried beneath perovskite films, which reorganizes the phase distribution and inhibits interfacial nonradiative recombination by anchoring PbX octahedra. By settling these key issues, efficient stable sky-blue PeLEDs have been successfully developed.

Phytohormone gibberellins (GAs) were utilized to enhance the removal of tetracycline antibiotics and nutrients from swine wastewater by different algal-bacterial symbiosis. Compared to microalgae monoculture, microalgae-activated sludge, and microalgae-, microalgae-endophytic bacteria showed better growth, photosynthetic, and purification performance. At 50 mg L GAs addition concentration, the specific growth rate of -endophytic bacterial (S395-2) system was 0.

Microneedle patches can penetrate the myocardium to facilitate integration with cardiac tissue, offering a promising approach for myocardial infarction (MI) repair. However, their clinical translation has been hindered by insufficient fixation stability during cardiac contractions and mismatch with myocardial anisotropy. To address these challenges, a bioinspired three-dimensional cardiac patch integrating barbed microneedles and an anisotropic lightweight mesh was designed.

Cheese, a widely consumed dairy product globally, derives its commercial value primarily from its flavor and textural characteristics that crucially determine consumer acceptance. The quality of cheese including flavor and texture is intricately related to the enzymatic activities of microorganisms during the fermentation process. Among these enzymes, lipases play a pivotal role by hydrolyzing milk fat to generate free fatty acids, which serve as precursors for the formation of key flavor compounds, thereby significantly enhancing the sensory attributes of cheese.

Background: Low temperatures are an important risk factor for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, trends and projections of the global burden of COPD at low temperatures are unclear.
Methods: Based on data from the 2021 Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD), this study assessed trends in the global and regional burden of death and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) due to COPD from 1990 to 2021, and identified patterns of change in different regions.

Electrocatalytic nitrate reduction reaction (NitRR) in neutral condition offers a sustainable route for ammonia (NH) production and water purification. For the most extensively investigated Cu-based electrocatalysts that favor NO adsorption, insufficient hydrogenation capability and sluggish NH desorption hinder the ultimate performance. Herein, we report Ca-doped CuO co-modified by oxalate (Ca─CuO─OA) as a novel and high-performance NitRR electrocatalyst.

Protein hydrolysates are considered as suitable reactants for the Maillard reaction due to their desirable taste characteristic and highly reactivity. However, the complexity of Maillard reaction systems involving protein hydrolysates makes it challenging to predict and control peptide taste stability. This study employed fluorescence intensity (FI) as an indicator of Maillard reaction degree to investigate its correlation with the saltiness-enhancing (SE) effect of peptides.

Multiferroic ferroelectric photovoltaic (FPV) materials, combining magnetic and ferroelectric properties, are of paramount importance for optoelectronic and photovoltaic applications. However, optimizing both the remanent polarization and the optical bandgap-key factors for enhanced FPV performance-presents a significant challenge due to their trade-off. This work shows that pressure-induced charge transfer between different metal sites can break this trade-off.

Methanol dehydrogenase (MDH), a representative of Type III alcohol dehydrogenases (ADHs), plays a pivotal role in methanol assimilation pathways, making it a key enzyme for the biosynthesis of chemicals and fuels from one-carbon feedstocks. An activator protein belonging to the Nudix hydrolase family, ACT, was found to increase the activity of MDH by 40-fold. Despite the widespread observation of this in vitro activation phenomenon in pairs of type III alcohol dehydrogenases and Nudix hydrolases, the mechanistic details have remained unresolved for decades.

Food flavors and fragrances are vital for foods. They can impart aroma and flavor to foods, enhance and compensate for flavor perception of foods, and mask the undesirable flavor of foods, thus increasing overall food acceptability and consumers' purchase intention. However, most of the flavors and fragrances are sensitive to air, moisture, heat, and light, leading to difficulties in processing them and adding them to foods.

High-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes are widely used in urban natural gas pipeline systems due to their excellent mechanical and chemical properties. However, welding joints are critical weak points in these pipelines, and defects, such as cold welding-caused by reduced temperature or/and insufficient pressure-pose significant safety risks. Traditional non-destructive testing (NDT) methods face challenges in detecting cold welding defects due to the polymer's complex structure and characteristics.

The interaction of maltose with glycylglycine was studied under ball milling condition to generate the Amadori product. Although single step milling (30 Hz, 30 min) has been shown to be efficient in the generation of Amadori products of monosaccharides with amino acids, however with disaccharides and dipeptides, single step process showed a significant intensity of unreacted disaccharide peak, prompting us to develop a multistep process where the more consumed reactant was replenished in the subsequent milling steps. Under multistep milling conditions, the Amadori compound was the main product.
