Adjuvants are widely used to boost the immune response during vaccination protocols. Our group has previously reported that repeated intraperitoneal administration of alum in mice, known as adjuvant conditioning (AC), creates an immunosuppressive environment that delays allogeneic graft rejection through NLRP3-dependent MDSC expansion. However, little is known about the effects of AC on the reprogramming of peritoneal cavity cells, particularly the different peritoneal macrophage populations, and the impact on the adaptive immune response.

Glyphosate and atrazine, two widely used herbicides, may induce subtle molecular changes even at low levels encountered in the drinking water of some populations. This study assessed structural and RNA expression changes in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell lines after 72-h exposures to glyphosate (50 or 500 ppb) and atrazine (2 or 20 ppb). These doses are commonly found in drinking water and falls below or within the maximum residue levels recommended or allowed in the drinking water of populations in Brazil and the USA.

The venom of (BjV) induces intense and prolonged pain, which is not alleviated by antivenom, along with hemorrhage and inflammation. In this study, we investigated the effects of the specialized pro-resolving lipid mediator (SPM) maresin 2 (MaR2) in a murine model of BjV-evoked pain and inflammation. Mice received a single intraperitoneal (i.

Introduction: Trichorhinophalangeal syndrome (TRPS) is a rare autosomal dominant genetic disorder characterized by trichological, craniofacial, and skeletal abnormalities. To date, limited data are available on hair involvement in TRPS, especially those focusing on trichoscopy.
Objective: We aimed to describe the epidemiology and the clinical and trichoscopy features of TRPS.

Objectives: This study aimed to systematically review and apply meta-analytic procedures to investigate the prevalence and time spent in different physical activity (PA) intensities among South American children across the childhood spectrum, according to sex and protocol used.
Methods: We searched PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS), and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCiELO); only studies with children between 0 and 11 years were included. Random-effects meta-analysis models were used to calculate the pooled estimates with their respective 95% confidence intervals (CI).

UVB skin pathology is initiated by reactive oxygen species (ROS), differentiating this condition from other inflammatory diseases involving first the immune cell activation by danger or pathogen molecular patterns followed by oxidative stress. Resolvin D2 (RvD2) has been found to reduce inflammation in preclinical models. However, whether or not RvD2 reduces skin pathology caused by UVB irradiation is not yet known.

For centuries, researchers have been fascinated by the composition of scorpion venom and its local and systemic effects on humans. During a sting, scorpions inject peptides and proteins that can affect immune cells and neurons. While the immune and nervous systems have been studied independently in the context of scorpion stings, here we reveal part of the mechanism by which venom induces hyperalgesia in mice.

Background: Sitosterolemia is a rare autosomal recessive disease characterized by elevated phytosterol levels in the bloodstream and tissues due to increased absorption and reduced biliary excretion. This condition arises from mutations in one of two genes, ABCG5 or ABCG8, located on chromosome 2p21.
Objective: We report the case of a patient, and his first-degree relatives, diagnosed with sitosterolemia at the age of 23.

Leishmaniasis is a neglected tropical disease caused by protozoa of the genus, transmitted by phlebotomine sandflies. Clinical manifestations vary depending on the parasite's species and the host's immune system, ranging from self-healing skin lesions to lethal visceral diseases. Visceral leishmaniasis (VL), mainly caused by and , is a serious public health issue.

Amphibians are vulnerable to the effects of pesticides, and nanoencapsulation of geraniol in zein nanocapsules may provide a more sustainable alternative to synthetic pesticides. These nanoformulations enhance the targeting of active ingredients, reduce the amount of pesticide applied, and may reduce impacts on non-target organisms. Thus, the effects of geraniol (GER), nanoencapsulated geraniol (nGER), and zein nanocapsules (NANO) were evaluated on Aquarana catesbeiana tadpoles after 24 and 96 h exposure.

Fructose-1,6-bisphosphate (FBP) is an intermediate product of the glycolytic pathway with analgesic effect in acute inflammatory pain model via the production of adenosine. However, whether FBP is active in neuropathic pain is unknown. Therefore, we reason that it would be suitable to investigate the analgesic effect and mechanism of action of FBP in a model of chronic constriction injury (CCI) of sciatic nerve-induced neuropathic pain in mice.

With the increasing demand for time-series analysis, driven by the proliferation of IoT devices and real-time data-driven systems, detecting change points in time series has become critical for accurate short-term prediction. The variability in patterns necessitates frequent analysis to sustain high performance by acquiring the hyperparameter. The Cumulative Sum (CUSUM) method, based on calculating the cumulative values within a time series, is commonly used for change detection due to its early detection of small drifts, simplicity, low computational cost, and robustness to noise.
