Prevalence and Risk Factors of Plasma Adiponectin Deficiency: A Cross-Sectional Study in a Physical Examination Cohort from Southwest China.

Background: Numerous studies have investigated adiponectin in disease populations, but no study has focused on the plasma adiponectin level, adiponectin deficiency, and its influencing factors in the population who have not yet developed disease symptoms.

Methods: The data of physical examination subjects who completed adiponectin detection in our hospital from 2020 to 2024 were included. The adiponectin levels in different age, genders, and subgroups were analyzed, and the indicators under adiponectin deficiency (<4 µg/mL in men and <5 µg/mL in women) were compared.

Mediating Role of Lipid Accumulation Products (LAP) in the Association of WBC with MASLD: SWH 2021-2023.

Background And Objectives: The association between various inflammatory markers and Metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and the role of lipid accumulation products in this is unclear. The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between various inflammatory markers and MASLD, and to explore the potential mediating role of LAP in inflammatory markers (WBC).

Methods: The binary logistic regression model was used to evaluate the correlation between various inflammatory markers and MASLD.

An infrared (IR) polarization imaging approach basically through configuring a polarized liquid-crystal (LC) component adjusted electrically before a common IR camera, is proposed. An experimental module composed of a single layer of the IR twisted nematic LC (IR-TNLC) structure for continuously or leapingly varying the polarized orientation of the imaging beams, has been characterized, which demonstrates an ideal polarization modulating behavior in three IR atmospherical windows. The typical polarized measurements in both the mid-wave infrared (MWIR) and the long-wave infrared (LWIR) regions indicate a perfect imaging efficiency mainly in the electronic target acquisition and the detailed feature recognition.

Background: Thyroid nodules are a common condition with a 7-15% likelihood of developing thyroid cancer. The prevalence of thyroid nodules in healthcare professionals is poorly understood, and how psychosomatic factors affect the occurrence of thyroid nodules is an interesting question. Therefore, the aims of this study are to explore the physiological and psychological aspects associated of thyroid nodules in healthcare professionals and establish a prediction model to provide a supportive basis for the primary prevention of thyroid nodules.

A new, to the best of our knowledge, liquid-crystal (LC) module based on an electrically driven and inducted formation of spatial electric fields in the LC micro-cavity for re-orienting LC molecules sealed, leading to a wavelike refractive index profile equivalent to traditional convex or concave ring-lenses, is proposed. The typical features of the LC module are a fine manipulation of light wave converging or diverging and a switching performance for regulating incident light waves according to the beam converging or diverging mode co-driven by a set of signal voltage applied over the top and bottom indium tin oxide (ITO) electrodes, and also the aluminum concentric cylinders (ACCs) embedded between the adjacent top circular ITO electrodes. The beam-diverging mode can be roughly simulated by an intermediate LC structure without any ACC.

Introduction: Monocytes comprise heterogeneous cell populations. However, beyond traditionally considered as precursors of tissue macrophages, heterogeneity and detailed effects of monocytes in acute aortic dissection (AAD) are largely unknown.

Objectives: To investigate the role of brain soluble acid protein 1 positive (BASP1) monocyte subset in promoting AAD development as well as the underlying mechanism.

Validation Status of Electronic Sphygmomanometers in China: A National Survey.

Background: Although the information on the validation status of electronic sphygmomanometer (ES) devices in use in health care institutions and households is much more clinically relevant than that of ES models available on the market, it remains insufficient.

Methods: A national survey was conducted across all administrative regions of mainland China to assess the validation status of ESs. Fifty-eight cities were selected with stratification by municipality, provincial capital, and other cities, and health care institutions and households in each city were chosen by convenience to identify ES devices in use according to the study protocol.

Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 and its possible association with COPD development: a case-control study.

Background: The association of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) with various cardiovascular events has been well-established. However, the exploration of its potential involvement in Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is currently limited. Therefore, our study aims to examine the relationship between Lp-PLA2 and pulmonary conditions, including emphysema, obstructive ventilatory dysfunction as well as small airway dysfunction, to provide further evidence of a possible association with COPD development.

The Different Predictive Effects of Multiple Body Fat Indexes on Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Fatty Liver Disease.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to comprehensively compare the predictive effect of 10 body fat indexes on MAFLD in different sex, age and BMI subgroups.

Patients And Methods: A total of 5403 physical examination data were included and divided into the MAFLD group (N=2632) and non-MAFLD group (N=2771). The differences and correlation of 10 promising indicators between the two groups were compared, including fatty liver index (FLI), hepatic steatosis index (HSI), lipid accumulation product (LAP), visceral fat index (VAI), cardiometabolic index (CMI), body adiposity index (BAI), and triglyceride-glucose index (TyG), waist circumference index (WC), body mass index (BMI), waist to height ratio (WHtR).

Background: Healthcare professionals have shown more psychological disorders such as anxiety and depression due to the nature of work, which can cause job burnout, decrease the quality of medical services, and even endanger medical safety. The aim of the study is to explore the serial multiple mediating role of effort- reward imbalance and resilience between perceived stress and psychological disorders among healthcare professionals.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in China from February to April 2023.

Psychology, stress, insomnia, and resilience of medical staff in China during the COVID-19 policy opening: a cross-sectional survey.

Background: Since 8 January 2023 China has liberalized its control of COVID-19. In a short period of time, the infection rate of COVID-19 in China has risen rapidly, which has brought a heavy burden to medical staff. This study aimed to investigate the psychological status, stress, insomnia, effort-reward imbalance, resilience, and influencing factors of medical staff in China during the period of epidemic policy liberalization.

Hope and depression: the mediating role of social support and spiritual coping in advanced cancer patients.

Background: Depression is the most common mental disorder in patients with advanced cancer, which may lead to poor prognosis and low survival rate. This study aims to explore the serial multiple mediating roles of social support and spiritual coping between hope and depression among patients with advanced cancer.
