T cell dependent anti-tumour immunity reprogrammed by radiotherapy is critical for its efficacy. However, the mechanisms by which tumour cells hinder this process remain poorly understood. Here, we show that tumour cells expressing protein C receptor (PROCR) dampen antitumour immunity by promoting the production of interleukin-6 (IL-6), which inhibits the differentiation of T helper 1 (Th1) cells and suppresses the function of CD8 T cells.

The anthocyanins malvidin-3--glucoside (M3G) and malvidin-3,5--diglucoside (M35G) were purified from the grape varieties L. and Foex peels, respectively, and their effects on glycolipid metabolic disorders (GLMDs) were investigated using a mouse model. Mice treated with M3G or M35G showed controlled body weight, preservation of normal histomorphological features and islet size of the pancreas, and amelioration of hyperglycemia and insulin resistance induced by a high-fructose diet.

Both plastics and heavy metal(loid)s (HMs) are ubiquitous environmental contaminants, and their frequent interactions in aquatic environments are observed globally. These interactions could result in adsorption of HMs onto plastics, thereby altering the environmental behavior of both contaminants. The change of physicochemical property of plastics surfaces, due to HM adsorption, inevitably impacts the plastisphere microbiome, as well as the fate of plastics in the environment.

Purpose: Previous research has indicated that sigma 1 receptor (Sig1R) activation can help retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) survive optic nerve injury. However, in these studies, the treatments were given before the injury. We explored whether activating Sig1R as a post-injury treatment can still preserve visual function.

Background: Antimony (Sb) contamination is a serious environmental problem owing to its extensive production worldwide. High concentration of Sb is often detected in mining-contaminated environments, leading to the risk of contamination to the downstream environments through waterflow. Microorganisms play an important role in the fate and transport of Sb.

Evaluating patients with encephalitis is common, but it can be complicated in immunocompromised patients. In this case, a 64-year-old man with a medical history of multiple myeloma and previous Lyme disease presented with acute onset of confusion, nausea, and fever; developed generalized tonic-clonic seizures; and subsequently became comatose. This case highlights the importance of thinking broadly beyond common viral and bacterial encephalitides and developing a comprehensive differential diagnosis.

Many tortricid moths are significant fruit borers characterized by limited flight capacity. However, some individuals within a population of tortricid species exhibit extended flight capabilities, facilitating gene flow between orchards and enabling host switching. To date, research on the proteins involved in flight among fruit borers is limited.

Background: Retinal ischemia contributes to vision loss in ischemic and diabetic retinopathies through oxidative stress, neurovascular injury, and inflammation. Copper (Cu), while essential, can be toxic in excess and is regulated by Cu transporters such as CTR1. However, the role of CTR1 in ischemic retinopathy remains unclear.

The high fraction of -hybridized carbon atom (F ) character of cyclobutane derivatives renders them as highly promising bioisosteres for otherwise typically flat arenes. Here, to address the current needs in medicinal chemistry for F -rich molecules, we disclose a distinct strategy that exploits the merger of C-C scission in bicyclo[1.1.

Extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP) of the gingiva is an exceptionally rare plasma cell neoplasm, posing significant diagnostic challenges due to its nonspecific clinical presentation and low incidence. This case report details a 67-year-old male presenting with a painless right maxillary gingival mass, initially mimicking benign hyperplasia. Diagnostic workup, including cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), revealed osteolytic bone destruction and soft tissue expansion.

Spent mushroom substrate (SMS) is the residual biomass generated after harvesting the fruitbodies of edible fungi. It is produced in large quantities and contains abundant nutrients. Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are a group of plant-associated microorganisms known for their ability to enhance plant growth, improve disease resistance, and boost soil quality.

Preterm birth is a major cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality. The disruption of vaginal microbiota in pregnant women is the most significant risk factor for preterm delivery. In this study, 65 pregnant women were enrolled, of which 29 were women with term births and 36 were women with preterm births, and were then categorized based on gestational age at delivery.

Sensory neuron membrane protein () gene play a crucial role in insect chemosensory systems. However, the role of in the host searching behaviour of (Hemiptera: Aphididae), a highly destructive pest of cereal crops, has not been clearly understood. Our previous research has shown that three wheat volatile organic compounds (VOCs) - (E)-2-hexenol, linalool, and octanal can attract , but the involvement of in the aphid's olfactory response to these wheat VOCs has not to be elucidated.

Electrical stimulation (ES) can effectively regulate cell behavior and promote bone tissue regeneration, and conductive biomaterials can further enhance this effect by enhancing the conduction of electrical signals between cells. In this study, poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) and poly(l-lactide)-aniline pentamer triblock copolymer (PAP) were used as raw materials to prepare a conductive bionic scaffold (PLGA/PAP). Subsequently, bone morphogenetic protein 2 mimetic peptide containing a DOPA tag (DBMP2MP) was loaded on the scaffold surface.

The connection between amino acid metabolism and pyroptosis remains elusive. Herein, we screen the effect of individual amino acid on pyroptosis and identify that methionine inhibits GSDME-mediated pyroptosis. Mechanistic analyses unveil that MYO6, a unique actin-based motor protein, bridges the GSDME N-terminus (GSDME-NT) and the endocytic adaptor AP2, mediating endolysosomal degradation of GSDME-NT.

Preterm birth (PTB) is a major cause of infant morbidity and mortality. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of vaginal microbiota and metabolites on the outcome of pregnant women. In this study, a total of 127 pregnant women provided written informed consent prior to enrollment in accordance with the approved institutional guidelines, but only 45 pregnancies met the experimental requirements, and then blood and cervical vaginal fluid (CVF) samples were collected before delivery (at the second week after cervical cerclage).

Background: Although the information on the validation status of electronic sphygmomanometer (ES) devices in use in health care institutions and households is much more clinically relevant than that of ES models available on the market, it remains insufficient.

Methods: A national survey was conducted across all administrative regions of mainland China to assess the validation status of ESs. Fifty-eight cities were selected with stratification by municipality, provincial capital, and other cities, and health care institutions and households in each city were chosen by convenience to identify ES devices in use according to the study protocol.
