Background: Ovarian cancer (OC) is a lethal gynecologic malignancy with limited therapeutic success due to late diagnosis and therapy resistance. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and ER-associated degradation (ERAD) are key to tumor adaptation, yet the mechanisms sustaining ER homeostasis in OC remain poorly defined.
Methods: We combined multi-omics analyses, tissue microarrays, and in vitro and in vivo models.

The death of human nucleus pulposus derived stem cells (NPSCs) is a key factor affecting the endogenous repair capability and degeneration of intervertebral discs (IVD). ASIC1a is thought to be closely associated with cells destiny in IVD degeneration (IVDD). However, its physiological and pathological roles in human NPSCs are unclear.

Apart from receptor-mediated signaling transduction pattern, serotonin can be covalently integrated into histone (the post-translational modification known as histone serotonylation) and serve as an epigenetic mark associated with permissive gene expression. However, how histone serotonylation influences tumorigenesis is yet to be understood.

Disturbed iron homeostasis is commonly observed in degenerative diseases, and an acidic microenvironment has been considered a crucial factor in IVDD. The molecular mechanism of ferroptosis in acidic microenvironments during IVDD has not been reported.

Background: The increasing epidemiological trend of pediatric urolithiasis over the past three decades has brought it to the forefront of public health attention. An analysis of the disease burden in Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS) countries, which share common characteristics such as large population base and limited public health resources, will provide an important reference for global public health policy development. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the trend of the prevalence of pediatric urolithiasis in BRICS countries during 1990-2021, which in turn will provide more valuable information for them and the world in the prevention and treatment of pediatric urolithiasis.

However, the potential reasons for the decreased infiltration of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) in PDAC remain inadequately understood. In this study, we aimed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms contributing to the low-CTLs infiltration in patients with PDAC.

However, the efficacy of these fungi is frequently hampered by biotic and abiotic factors within the soil, which can significantly impede fungal germination (fungistasis). To counteract these environmental challenges, certain nematode-trapping fungi have evolved to produce traps from their conidia, referred to as conidial traps.

Whether and how 5-HT modulates cells in the microenvironment to regulate tumor metastasis is largely unknown. Here, we demonstrate that 5-HT was secreted by neuroendocrine prostate cancer (NEPC) cells to communicate with neutrophils and to induce the formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in the liver, which in turn facilitated the recruitment of disseminated cancer cells and promoted liver metastasis.

The molecular function of transmembrane proline-rich Gla proteins (PRRGs) remains unexplored.
Methods: Analysis of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) datasets, including transcription profiles, clinical data, and tissue microarrays, was conducted to evaluate PRRG1 expression and its clinical relevance.

The biomass-derived furan aldehydes furfural (FF) and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) are versatile platform chemicals used to produce various value-added chemicals through further valorization processes. Selectively reducing C═O in FF and HMF molecules to form furfuryl alcohol (FAL) and 2,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)furan (BHMF), represents an important research field in upgrading biomass-based furan compounds. Currently, the reduction of furan aldehydes to furan alcohols through chemical transformation often leads to unavoidable environmental issues and the formation of potential byproducts.

These compartments can form distinct physicochemical environments, and in particular display different concentrations of proteins, RNA, and macromolecules compared to the surrounding cytosol. Recent studies have highlighted the significant role of aberrant LLPS in cancer development and progression, impacting many core processes such as oncogenic signalling pathways, transcriptional dysregulation, and genome instability.

Background: The interaction between the metastatic microenvironment and tumor cells plays an important role in metastatic tumor formation. Platelets play pivotal roles in hematogenous cancer metastasis through tumor cell-platelet interaction in blood vessels. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a highly lethal malignancy distinguished by its notable tendency to metastasize to the liver.

Meta and bioinformatic analyses were used to explore the correlation between CD147 expression and the clinicopathological characteristics prognosis of breast cancer.
Method: Literature related to breast cancer was retrieved through PubMed and CNKI databases, and a meta-analysis was conducted using Review Manager 5.
Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) have shown promise in cancer therapy, particularly for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but their molecular targets and mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we show that SSRIs exhibit significant anti-HCC effects independent of their classical target, the serotonin reuptake transporter (SERT). Using global inverse gene expression profiling, drug affinity responsive target stability assays, and in silico molecular docking, we demonstrate that citalopram targets glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1), resulting in reduced glycolytic flux.

In this study, we introduced four innovative U-shaped flow field designs, namely: In-Out Multi-U, Out-In Multi-U, Distro In-Out Multi-U, and Distro Out-In Multi-U. To investigate the impact of these various flow fields on PEMFC performance, we conducted computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical simulations, validated through model experiments.

Objectives: To investigate the risk factors for bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in twin preterm infants with a gestational age of <34 weeks, and to provide a basis for early identification of BPD in twin preterm infants in clinical practice.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed for the twin preterm infants with a gestational age of <34 weeks who were admitted to 22 hospitals nationwide from January 2018 to December 2020. According to their conditions, they were divided into group A (both twins had BPD), group B (only one twin had BPD), and group C (neither twin had BPD).

Here, we report a glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) serotonylation system that promotes the glycolytic metabolism and antitumor immune activity of CD8 T cells. Tissue transglutaminase 2 (TGM2) transfers 5-HT to GAPDH glutamine 262 and catalyzes the serotonylation reaction.
