Background: The clinical effects of acupuncture are often underestimated due to the placebo effect of sham acupuncture. While multiple sham acupuncture methods have been used in clinical practice, it is challenging to select the appropriate sham acupuncture technique due to the lack of head-to-head trials.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the differential placebo effects of diverse sham acupuncture interventions, providing evidence-based guidance for selecting optimal placebo controls in clinical practice.

Objective: This study aimed to compare adverse event (AE) profiles between Avastin and bevacizumab biosimilars to support clinical decision-making, given the limited availability of real-world data.
Methods: A disproportionality analysis was conducted using the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) to identify and compare AE signals. Signals were evaluated at the system organ classes (SOCs) and preferred term (PT) levels, focusing on the Top 20 PTs by report number, key SOCs and outcomes.
Cadmium (Cd), as a widely investigated heavy metal, demonstrates severe toxicity to plant growth and development. However, the roles of energy metabolism, and protein degradation caused by autophagy in plant Cd tolerance remain poorly characterized. This study reveals that Cd-exposure simultaneously affects both the glycolytic and autophagic in Arabidopsis thaliana.

Background: Many patients with functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) seek complementary and alternative therapies to improve gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms. Research on the use of acupuncture to improve GI symptoms has been growing, but the results have been inconsistent.
Objective: To provide a systematic review and meta-analysis of the effectiveness of acupuncture-based treatment for FGIDs using the latest data and a rigorous evaluation system.
Planar polaritonic lenses, achieved by precisely controlling interface polaritons, hold significant promise for subwavelength light focusing. While most existing designs rely on polariton interference or refraction, creating gradient-index polaritonic lenses remains a substantial challenge due to the lack of practical and cost-effective fabrication methods. Here, we introduce a lithography-free approach for producing polaritonic lenses with gradient effective refractive indices by engineering the dielectric environment of polaritons.

Objective: To address the long-term impact of childhood idiopathic epilepsy on health and families, and to provide epidemiological evidence for developing effective prevention and treatment strategies, this study aimed to explore the trends in incidence, deaths, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) of childhood idiopathic epilepsy globally and across regions from 1990 to 2021.
Patients And Methods: This cross-sectional analysis utilized data from the 2021 Global Burden of Disease database, covering idiopathic epilepsy cases among children aged 0-14 years across 204 countries and regions. The study period was from September 15, 2024, to October 31, 2024.
The influence of nitrogen on wood formation is well established. To gain insight into the underlying molecular mechanism, we first identified genes in fourteen gene families that are involved in nitrogen uptake and metabolism in European aspen (Populus tremula L.) genome annotation.

Methods And Study Design: Inpatients participated in Chinese nutritionDay 2010-2020 surveys were included. Malnutrition was defined according to the ESPEN and GLIM criteria after being risk evaluated by Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST).
Objective: To assess the effectiveness of single-inhaler fluticasone furoate/umeclidinium bromide/vilanterol (FF/UMEC/VI) in symptomatic chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) under real-world settings in China.
Methods: In this single-arm, prospective, observational study, participants received 12 weeks of FF/UMEC/VI treatment. The primary outcome was change from baseline (CFB) in COPD Assessment Test (CAT) score at Week 12.
The ability to detect polarimetric information of light over a broad spectra range is central to practical optoelectronic applications and has been successfully demonstrated with photodetectors of low-symmetry 2D van der Waals materials (vdWMs). However, polarization sensitivity within such a photodetectors remains elusive due to the limited diversity. To address this challenge, an approach is proposed by transforms 2D Lead iodine (PbI) into 1D superlattice microwires (SLMs) through a solution-phase antisolvent diffusion method.

Background: Precursor lesions like polyps and adenomas in the colon commonly precede colorectal cancer (CRC), advancing through the "normal-polyp-adenoma-carcinoma" sequence towards malignancy. Yet, the cellular heterogeneity and molecular mechanisms involved in CRC development remain inadequately characterized.
Methods: To understand the molecular mechanisms driving the onset and progression of CRC, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of ten clinical colorectal samples representing sequential pathological stages using single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq).
Background: Flow diversion has revolutionized the management of intracranial aneurysms. This study aimed to evaluate the preliminary safety and efficacy profile of the novel Lattice flow diverter (LFD) in clinical applications.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed consecutive patients with intracranial aneurysms who were treated with the LFD between June 2023 and May 2024.
Sulfur (S) and selenium (Se) are essential nutrients for living organisms, playing a critical role in plant growth and development. The sulfate transporter (SULTR) serves as the primary carrier for sulfate uptake, transport and redistribution. However, functions of SULTRs in wheat remain completely unknown.

This study evaluates the efficacy of machine learning (ML) models in predicting sepsis risk in intensive care units (ICUs) patients with ICH. We conducted a retrospective analysis on ICH patients using the MIMIC-IV database, randomly dividing them into training and validation cohorts.

As important gaseous signaling molecules, both nitric oxide (NO) and hydrogen sulfide (HS) demonstrate antiplatelet and anticoagulant functions, but little attention has been given to their synergistic effect and the underlying mechanism. In the present study, we developed an NO/HS codelivery system based on enzyme prodrug therapy (EPT) strategy in which the prodrugs are specifically recognized by the engineered β-galactosidase.

However, recent epidemiologic data are scarce. The study aimed to investigate the latest prevalence of ICH in central China and assess the risk of ICH in the next 10 years based on the Resident Health Records (RHR) data.

Surgeons regard clinical nutrition as a "life-saving" discipline, pivotal in preserving the lives of numerous critically ill patients and facilitating the success of many surgical procedures. Parenteral nutrition (PN) support serves as a crucial component of clinical nutritional therapy, while a range of complications associated with total parenteral nutrition (TPN) can significantly undermine the efficacy of patient treatment.

This study proposes an effective approach for real-time temperature reconstruction by integrating embedded sensor arrays with an enhanced full-time domain inversion algorithm, utilizing the overlapping sliding window method. An array of three evenly spaced sensors is used for TPS monitoring.

Recently, its off-label applications, including treating middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysms, have increased. This study augmented the current literature by examining the outcomes of PED utilization for MCA aneurysms.

Recently, the emerging van der Waals (vdW) materials with extreme anisotropy exhibit exotic hyperbolic phonon resonances and ray-like propagation. However, localization and manipulation of these hyperbolic phonon polaritons (PhPs) in polaritonic crystals (PoCs) on a scale deeply below the polariton wavelength have remained elusive so far.

While apolipoprotein B (ApoB) has been linked to atherosclerosis, its causal relationship with aortic aneurysm remains unclear. This study used a Mendelian randomization (MR) approach to explore the causal relationships between ApoB, aortic aneurysm, and potential mediators.

Such conversion significantly alters greenhouse gas (GHG) fluxes, yet the underlying mechanisms of GHG fluxes resulting from drainage and long-term tillage practices remain highly uncertain. In this study, we measured GHG fluxes of a natural reed wetland (referred to as "Wetland") and a drained wetland that used as farmland (referred to as "Dryland").
