The Hengduan Mountains (HDM) harbor the richest temperate diversity in the Northern Hemisphere, yet our understanding of how this exceptionally diverse biota evolved remains obscure. Large-scale historical biogeographic analyses of 851 terrestrial vertebrate species and their relatives (totaling 4862 species) reveal that multiple evolutionary pathways formed this biodiversity hotspot. Whereas speciation dominates in amphibians and non-avian reptiles, near-equal speciation and colonization occurs in mammals, and colonization happens primarily in birds.

H5N1 virus invades the mammary glands of dairy cattle through 'mouth-to-teat' transmission.

H5N1 influenza outbreaks have been reported on more than 1070 dairy farms across 17 states in the USA. Damage to the mammary gland and high levels of virus in milk were common features of the infected cattle, but it is unclear how the virus initially invades the mammary glands, and no control strategy is currently available. Here, we found that cattle oral tissues support H5N1 virus binding and replication, and virus replicating in the mouth of cattle transmitted to the mammary glands of dairy cattle during sucking.

In this article, we focus on the problem of sampling a point spread function (PSF) in a tilted plane for computational wave optics and holography. Conventionally, the PSF represents a symmetric wavefield distribution expressed in an orthogonal plane to the target hologram. In contrast, we reveal the wavefield for a point-spread function over a tilted plane, showing an asymmetric structure depending on the tilt angle.

Effect of biochar derived at different pyrolysis temperatures on heavy metal speciation during sewage sludge anaerobic digestion process.

The effects of biochar prepared at different pyrolysis temperatures (300-800 ℃) on the anaerobic digestion efficiency, chemical speciation distribution, and environmental risks of heavy metals in sewage sludge were investigated in this study. The results showed that the addition of biochar could keep the pH of the anaerobic digestion system stable at 7.43-7.

Covalent BTK inhibitors (cBTKis), such as ibrutinib, have demonstrated remarkable efficacy, but their curative potential is limited by acquired resistance. Next-generation BTK inhibitors, including non-covalent BTK inhibitors and BTK Proteolysis-targeting chimeras, offer new options for patients who have developed resistance to cBTKis.
