5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is an effective drug in the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC); however, the development of acquired resistance to 5-FU poses a great challenge in clinical practice. Through the analysis of public datasets, we found that reduced 3-Hydroxybutyrate Dehydrogenase 2 (BDH2) expression in CRC tissues predicted poor survival in CRC patients. Low expression of BDH2 in clinical CRC tissue samples predicted a higher degree of malignancy.

This paper comprehensively examines the anticancer mechanisms and therapeutic potential of β-sitosterol, a naturally occurring phytosterol found in various plants. β-Sitosterol has shown significant efficacy in inhibiting tumor growth and metastasis through various biological pathways, including inducing apoptosis, arresting cell cycle progression, and suppressing cell proliferation, invasion, and migration. We highlight the key mechanisms by which β-sitosterol exerts its effects, such as modulating apoptosis-related signaling pathways like those of the Bcl-2 family proteins and reactive oxygen species production.

G-protein signalling modulator 2 (GPSM2) plays an important role in maintaining cell polarisation and regulating the cell cycle; however, a systematic and comprehensive analysis of GPSM2 in cancer is still lacking. Using extensive multi-omics data, we explored the pan-cancer expression levels of GPSM2 from multiple perspectives and its association with prognosis, diagnosis, tumour stemness, immune-related genes, immune cell infiltration, genomic instability, and response to immunotherapy. We also elucidated the potential pan-cancer biological functions of GPSM2 using gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and searched for targeted drugs that affect GPSM2 expression using connectivity map analysis.

Pickering emulsions stabilized by solid particles are more stable and environmentally friendly compared to traditional surfactants. Herein, a series of Chitosan-g-Poly(N-vinylcaprolactam) (CS-g-PNVCL) microgel particles were synthesized via a free radical surfactant-free emulsion copolymerization and the obtained particles were used to stabilize Pickering emulsions. Spatial phase modulation has become an important method for the design of new self-accelerating light beams. Based on the transverse-longitudinal mapping of Bessel beam, we propose a method of pure phase modulation to directly convert a zero-order Bessel beam into a self-accelerating beam, of which the propagation trajectories can be flexibly predesigned. We experimentally demonstrate three typical types of curves that the modulated Bessel beam propagates along, and the parabolic, spiral, and teleporting self-accelarating beams are realized.
