X-ray ptychography has emerged as a powerful imaging tool on X-ray synchrotron facilities. Implementation of ptychography on laboratory-scale X-ray sources has largely been hindered by their poor temporal coherence and low flux. Here we propose an ultra-broadband method incorporating structured illumination to enhance the robustness of ptychography to broadband sources.

The novel, to our knowledge, feature of this design is the use of two wedge prisms through the rotation of which evanescent waves with all-directional wave vectors are excited sequentially. By joining a half-wave plate (HWP), it is feasible to make the generated evanescent waves possess the same polarization directions at all azimuthal angles.

Sulfurized polyacrylonitrile (SPAN) presents an opportunity to replace elemental sulfur as a "shuttle-free" cathode for secondary Li-S batteries, which can be an ideal choice for stationary energy storage due to its abundance, low cost, and sustainability. The electrolyte options for the state-of-the-art SPAN batteries have been limited to the flammable carbonate and ether ones, which raises safety concerns. Here, we explored the use of a non-flammable acetonitrile (AN) electrolyte for SPAN battery for the first time and identified the irreversible cleavage of C-S bonds of SPAN as the main reason for the failure of SPAN in AN electrolyte.

However, due to the limited availability of long-term, high-resolution datasets, there has been little research on the descriptive analysis of distributed energy systems throughout the lifespan of distributed power generators and beyond. To address this challenge, this study has collected and described a twenty-year dataset (from 2002 to 2021) consisting of hourly energy generation and consumption profiles from a campus distributed energy system, covering the entire lifespan of on-site generators.

The biological manganese oxidation process mainly oxidizes Mn(II) through the secretion of unique manganese oxidase by manganese-oxidizing bacteria. The T1 Cu site of multicopper oxidase is the main site for substrate oxidation, and its role is to transfer electrons to TNC, where dioxygen reduction occurs.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOsteoarthritis (OA) is a highly incident total joint degenerative disease with cartilage degeneration as the primary pathogenesis. The cartilage matrix is mainly composed of collagen, a matrix protein with a hallmark triple-helix structure, which unfolds with collagen degradation on the cartilage surface. A collagen hybridizing peptide (CHP) is a synthetic peptide that binds the denatured collagen triple helix, conferring a potential disease-targeting possibility for early-stage OA.

However, the impact of this phenomenon on the sensitivity to thyroid hormones (THs) in humans is unclear, especially in a group as specific as schizophrenia.
Methods: A longitudinal study was constructed using longitudinal measurements of thyroid function in schizophrenia in the Anhui Mental Health Center.
Introduction: Autogenous arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is the preferred vascular access in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis (MHD). However, complications such as thrombosis may occur. This study aimed to construct and validate a machine learning-based risk-prediction model for AVF thrombosis, hypothesizing that such a model can effectively predict occurrences, providing a foundation for early clinical intervention.

Background: Dyslipidemia in schizophrenia causes a serious loss of healthy life expectancy, making it imperative to explore key environmental risk factors. We aimed to assess the effect of PM and its constituents on dyslipidemia in schizophrenia, identify the critical hazardous components, and investigate the role of impaired thyroid hormones (THs) sensitivity in this association.
Methods: We collected disease data on schizophrenia from the Anhui Mental Health Center from 2019 to 2022.
In this work, the acylated anthocyanin (Ca-An) was prepared by enzymatic modification of black rice anthocyanin with caffeic acid, and the binding mechanism of Ca-An to soybean protein isolate (SPI) was investigated by experiments and computer simulation to expand the potential application of anthocyanin in food industry. Multi-spectroscopic studies revealed that the stable binding of Ca-An to SPI induced the folding of protein polypeptide chain, which transformed the secondary structure of SPI trended to be flexible. The microenvironment of protein was transformed from hydrophobic to hydrophilic, while tyrosine played dominant role in quenching process.

Transient receptor potential vanilloid family member 1 (TRPV1) has been revealed as a therapeutic target of osteoarthritis (OA), the most common deteriorating whole joint disease, by impeding macrophagic inflammation and chondrocytes ferroptosis. However, the clinical application for capsaicin as the TRPV1 agonist is largely limited by its chronic toxicity. To address this issue, we developed a bifunctional controllable magnetothermal switch targeting TRPV1 for the alleviation of OA progression by coupling of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) to TRPV1 monoclonal antibodies (MNPs-TRPV1).

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common degenerative joint disease worldwide, with the main pathological manifestation of articular cartilage degeneration. It have been investigated that pharmacological activation of transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) significantly alleviated cartilage degeneration by abolishing chondrocyte ferroptosis. In this work, in view of the thermal activated feature of TRPV1, Citrate-stabilized gold nanorods (Cit-AuNRs) is conjugated to TRPV1 monoclonal antibody (Cit-AuNRs@Anti-TRPV1) as a photothermal switch for TRPV1 activation in chondrocytes under near infrared (NIR) irradiation.

Artificial CO removal from the atmosphere (also referred to as negative CO emissions) has been proposed as a potential means to counteract anthropogenic climate change. Here we use an Earth system model to examine the response of ocean acidification to idealized atmospheric CO removal scenarios. In our simulations, atmospheric CO is assumed to increase at a rate of 1% per year to four times its pre-industrial value and then decreases to the pre-industrial level at a rate of 0.

The practical application of AZIBs is hindered by problems such as dendrites and hydrogen evolution reactions caused by the thermodynamic instability of Zinc (Zn) metal. Modification of the Zn surface through interface engineering can effectively solve the above problems. Here, sulfonate-derivatized graphene-boronene nanosheets (G&B-S) composite interfacial layer is prepared to modulate the Zn plating/stripping and mitigates the side reactions with electrolyte through a simple and green electroplating method.
