Deep-sea hydrothermal vents are renowned for being among the most extreme environments on Earth. However, the mussel shells found in these vent sites demonstrate remarkable productivity, despite being subjected to high pressure as well as unusual levels of heavy metals, pH, temperature, CO, and sulphides. To comprehend how these mussels endure such extreme conditions, a systematic comparative study was conducted, focusing on the unique chemical composition, structural designs, and mechanical properties of hydrothermal vent mussels (Bathymodiolus aduloides) in comparison to shallow-water mussels (Mytilus edulis).

It is thus critical to tailor the biodegradation profiles of these implants to establish a conductive tissue microenvironment for bone tissue regeneration. In this study, we demonstrate that Zn-Li alloy forms a layer of Li-containing degradation products at the bone-implant interface to accommodate the bone regeneration process.

In this work, a three-dimensional metal-organic framework, [CdL(HO)] (Cd-MOF) was synthesized by using 2-(6-carboxypyridin-2-yl)terephthalic acid ligand (HL); and its post-synthetic modification composite, Eu@Cd-MOF was obtained by one-pot reaction of Euions with Cd-MOF. The FT-IR, PXRD, XPS, EDS, and fluorescence spectra were employed to verify the successful encapsulation of Euions into Cd-MOF. The luminescence measurements showed that Eu@Cd-MOF had a fluorescence quenching response with minocycline (MC), a widely used drug of broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotics; and its limit of detection (LOD) for MC was 6.

Tb-doped phosphors, serving as critical green-emitting materials for solid-state lighting, face severe reliability limitations in high-power devices due to their high-temperature thermal quenching effects. This study proposes a synergistic strategy combining excitation-driven modulation with host-activator energy transfer optimization through Ta/Nb cosubstitution in novel YTaNbO:3%Tb phosphors, achieving integrated innovation in thermal quenching suppression and dual-mode thermal response functionality. Photoluminescence measurements and density functional theory (DFT) calculations demonstrate energy transfer from [Ta/NbO] to Tb in the phosphors, while minor Nb substitution ( = 0.

In this study, an asymmetric cobalt single-atom catalyst is developed by anchoring Co-NP sites on a nitrogen-phosphorus co-doped carbon matrix (Co-N-PC) derived from metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). The coordination engineering of Co centers via phosphorus incorporation disrupts the symmetry of conventional Co-N configurations, enhancing charge redistribution and reducing the energy barrier for iodine dissociation as confirmed by density functional theory calculations.

Numerous studies highlight its impact on M1 excitability; however, the interplay between electroacupuncture (EA) and TMS on M1 excitability remains largely unexplored. So, we designed a new PAS protocol (namely EA-PAS, an integration of EA and TMS at M1) to investigate whether the EA-PAS has the same effects as the original PAS.

To address the bottlenecks of low electrochemical activity, structural instability, and narrow voltage window in Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) for AAIBs, this study develops a universal synthesis strategy integrating acid-assisted method with ligand modulation to prepare high-performance vanadium-based PBAs (V-PBAs) cathodes. Through precise coordination environment control, V and Fe/Co/Ni synergistically enhance multi-electron redox activity.

Self-amplifying mRNA (SAM) shows promise for vaccines and gene therapy because of its self-replicating ability. However, current studies lack sufficient information for systematic parameter optimization and differentiation from conventional non-replicating mRNA (NRM). Therefore, the transfection efficiency of NRM and SAM platforms was evaluated by comparing delivery vectors and optimizing parameters for the SAM protocol.

Methods: APJ knockout (KO) mice were utilized to explore the role of apelin/APJ signaling in VESC functionality.
Efficient photocatalytic tumor therapy relies on deep tissue penetration via near-infrared (NIR) light absorption and potent oxidative stress induced by efficient photogenerated hole (h) migration. Herein, we report a supramolecular donor-acceptor (D-A) structure fabricated by integrating self-assembled tetra-(4-carboxyphenyl) porphyrin (SA-TCPP) with amino-functionalized graphene quantum dots (GQDs-NH). The D-A configuration significantly narrowed the band gap for extended NIR absorption and amplified the interfacial electric field 6.

However, the practical application of PBAs still faces great challenges, such as a high content of anionic vacancies and poor structural stability. In this work, we synthesized nickel-manganese bimetallic PBAs by a simple coprecipitation method, and adjusting the ratio of nickel (electrochemically inert element) and manganese (electrochemically active element) can effectively control the charging and discharging depth of the battery.
