This study investigated strain degeneration during repeated subculturing and employed metabolomics, transcriptomics, and other techniques to explore its molecular mechanisms. Significant metabolic and transcriptional differences were observed between normal mycelia (NM) and degenerated mycelia (DG). Metabolomic analysis revealed 699 differentially expressed metabolites (DEMs) that were predominantly enriched in secondary metabolite biosynthesis pathways, particularly flavonoids and indole alkaloids.

The application of flexible hydrogel sensors in extreme environments, such as low temperatures, underwater, or significant mechanical deformations, poses considerable challenges. Here, we present a simple one-pot method to fabricate ultra-tough, swelling- and freezing-resistant conductive organohydrogels without external conductive and freeze-resistant fillers. During gelation, by-products (CHNHCl, KCl) provide both conductivity and antifreeze properties, thus eliminating compatibility issues and dispersion challenges associated with external fillers.

Dual functional coatings with anti-fog and antimicrobial performances greatly enhance the safety and reliability of medical detection devices, but are prone to mechanical damage, resulting in reduced performance and a shorter service lifespan. Herein, a semi-interpenetrating polymer network (SIPN) coating, featuring hydrophobic-hydrophilic balanced copolymers as bulk chains and host-guest inclusion compounds (HGICs) as cross-linkers, is reported, which demonstrates particularly effective anti-fog and antibacterial performances, along with a surprisingly fast self-healing capability under various scenarios. This HGIC-based coating displayed remarkable anti-fog capability over a wide temperature range from -20 ℃ to 85 ℃ and exhibited reliable antibacterial activities (≥98 %) against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Chemodynamic therapy of cancer is limited by insufficient endogenous HO generation and acidity in the tumor microenvironment (TME). Herein, we developed a biodegradable theranostic platform (pLMOFePt-TGO) involving composite of dendritic organosilica and FePt alloy, loaded with tamoxifen (TAM) and glucose oxidase (GOx), and encapsulated by platelet-derived growth factor-B (PDGFB)-labeled liposomes, that effectively uses the synergy among chemotherapy, enhanced chemodynamic therapy (CDT), and anti-angiogenesis. The increased concentration of glutathione (GSH) present in the cancer cells induces the disintegration of pLMOFePt-TGO, releasing FePt, GOx, and TAM.

An anticorrosive coating with randomly distributed passive barriers and regionally enriched active corrosion inhibitors is developed by integrating mica nanosheets (MNSs) and magnetic-responsive core-shell mesoporous nanoparticles with 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (FeO@mSiO/MBT) under magnetic field incubation. The bottom enriched FeO@mSiO/MBT rapidly releases the MBT to form a passivation layer on corrosion sites, enhancing the corrosion inhibition efficiency by 30.36% compared with the control (NPEP-R).

Preservation of the intact cell morphology of bacteria is recognized as one important cause of bacterial drug resistance, and hence developing new antibacterial agents capable of fighting against bacteria disrupting their cell envelope is highly desirable. Herein, by adopting a modified Stöber method, we developed a one-step approach to fabricate quaternized silica nanoparticles (NPs) using two commercially available molecules-a long alkyl chain-bearing quaternary ammonium silane compound, dimethyloctadecyl[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ammonium chloride (Si-QAC), and tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS). Specifically, small spherical quaternized silica NPs with an average size of ∼34 nm could be prepared at a TEOS/Si-QAC molar ratio of 4 : 1 with a very high yield (>90%), and the resultant NPs (termed TS4 NPs) possessed superb colloidal stability (at least 520 d) and good biocompatibility.

Hydrogen peroxide (HO) is an important active oxygen species that plays a major role in redox balance and in physiological and pathological processes of various diseases of biological systems. As HO is an endogenous active molecule, fluctuations in HO content are not only affected by the state of biological system itself but also easily affected by Bisphenol A (BPA, a typical estrogenic environmental pollutant) in the external environment. Grazing as one of the most important disturbances affects the abundance, diversity and community composition of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi in ecosystems, but the AM fungi in response to grazing in wetland ecosystems remain poorly documented. Here, we examined AM fungi in roots and soil in grazing and non-grazing plots in Zoige wetland on the Qinghai-Tibet plateau.
