Allyl isothiocyanate (AITC) is a promising alternative to chemical fumigants, and mitochondrial dysfunction has been proposed to play a crucial role in its lethal mechanisms; however, the specific lethal mechanisms of AITC remain unknown. Four mitochondrial electron transport chain genes, nd5, nd6, cox1, and cox5, were selected from adult Sitophilus zeamais and processed with RNA interference experiments. Then, the biochemical and biophysical effects were compared between double-stranded RNA (dsRNA)-mediated insects and wild-type insects after AITC fumigation at the concentration of LC values.

Astaxanthin, originating from marine organisms, is a natural bioactive compound with powerful antioxidant activity. Here, we evaluated the antioxidant ability of astaxanthin on dendritic cells (DCs), a key target of immune regulation, for inflammatory control in a sepsis model. Our results showed that astaxanthin suppressed nitric oxide (NO) production, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, and lipid peroxidation activities in LPS-induced DCs and LPS-challenged mice.

Astragali Radix is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine with a long history, which has the functions of tonifying Qi and promoting urination and granulation. Astragalosides are the main effective components of Astragali Radix, and more than 40 triterpenoid saponins have been obtained from Astragalus membranaceus and its related plants, mainly including astragalosides Ⅰ-Ⅷ, isoastragalosides Ⅰ, Ⅱ, and Ⅳ, acetylastragalosides, and soyasaponins. We propose a complete hardware-based architecture of multilayer neural networks (MNNs), including electronic synapses, neurons, and periphery circuitry to implement supervised learning (SL) algorithm of extended remote supervised method (ReSuMe). In this system, complementary (a pair of n- and p-type) memtransistors (C-MTs) are used as an electrical synapse. By applying the learning rule of spike-timing-dependent plasticity (STDP) to the memtransistor connecting presynaptic neuron to the output one whereas the contrary anti-STDP rule to the other memtransistor connecting presynaptic neuron to the teacher one, extended ReSuMe with multiple layers is realized without the usage of those complicated supervising modules in previous approaches.

This study aimed to develop an autophagy-associated long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) signature to predict the prognostic outcomes of uveal melanoma (UM). The data of UM from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) were enrolled to obtain differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between metastasizing and non-metastasizing UM patients. A total of 13 differentially expressed autophagy genes were identified and validated in Gene Expression Omnibus, and 11 autophagy-related lncRNAs were found to be associated with overall survival.
