Purpose: To describe an improved technique for secondary IOL implantation in constricted capsular bag in aphakic eyes.
Setting: This study was designed and carried out in the department of Ophthalmology, Shanghai General Hospital (Shanghai First People's Hospital).
Design: This is a retrospective study which evaluate the post-operative effect of the two-steps secondary IOL implantation.
Single cell RNA sequencing is a promising technique to determine the states of individual cells and classify novel cell subtypes. In current sequence data analysis, however, genes with low expressions are omitted, which leads to inaccurate gene counts and hinders downstream analysis. Recovering these omitted expression values presents a challenge because of the large size of the data.

The study included 587 HIV-negative tuberculosis (TB) patients. In TB patients with DI, the proportion of CD4+ T cells decreased, the proportion of CD8+ T cells increased, and the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ T cells decreased.

Methods: Twenty-seven cancer-associated anti-TIF1-γ antibody-positive DM (Cancer TIF1-γ-DM) patients were compared with 20 anti-TIF1-γ antibody-positive DM patients without cancer (Non-cancer TIF1-γ-DM) and 10 healthy controls (HC). The plasma levels of 17 cytokines were determined using the Luminex 200 system.
Covalent modifications of DNA and histones are key cellular epigenetic marks to regulate gene functions. Most of these epigenetic marks are added or removed by corresponding enzymes known as writers and erasers, whose catalytic activities normally rely on the presence of cellular metabolites as cofactors. Epigenetic marks can either directly alter the chromatin structure and dynamics through changing the intra-/internucleosomal histone-histone and histone-DNA interactions or recruit readers that further bring in other proteins with chromatin-modifying/remodeling activities to reshape the local and regional chromatin organization.

However, the pathogenic mechanism of MDA5 DM-RPILD is unclear. Although some MDA5 DM patients have a chronic course of ILD, many do not develop RPILD.

Methods: The laboratory data upon admission, of 231 cases with COVID-19 hospitalized from December 8, 2021 to January 20, 2022 in Xi'an, including blood routine, lymphocyte subtypes, coagulative function tests, virus specific antibodies and blood biochemical tests were collected and analyzed.
N6-methyladenosine (m6A) RNA modification is a new epigenetic regulation mechanism on eukaryotic mRNA. Few autoimmune diseases focused on the role of m6A in their pathogenies, and m6A modulation in the pathological process of primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) is still unknown. In this work, three microarray datasets of pSS patients were downloaded from the GEO database: datasets #1 and #2 from the whole peripheral blood (PB) samples, dataset #3 from the labial salivary gland tissue samples, as well as a PB cohort collected from our hospital.

Invasive nontyphoidal Salmonella (iNTS) causes extraintestinal infections with ~15% case fatality in many countries. However, the mechanism by which iNTS emerged in China remains unaddressed. We conducted clinical investigations of iNTS infection with recurrent treatment failure, caused by underreported Salmonella enterica serovar Livingstone (SL).

Methods: Plasma HE4 levels were estimated in 136 patients with IgG4-RD and 73 healthy individuals (controls) by electrochemical luminescence.
Adding irinotecan to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) in locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) increases the pathologic complete response (pCR) rate but brings more toxicities. Robust biomarkers to predict response to irinotecan-based nCRT are extremely necessary for selecting the right patients. Our previous study suggests that patient-derived tumor organoids (PDTOs) sensitivity to chemoradiotherapy matches patient responses.

The PV and resveratrol (Res) can form a complex, thus effectively improve the solubility of Res. In this work, the interaction between Res and PV was investigated by the fluorescence spectroscopy and molecular docking.

However, it is difficult to differentiate pelvic RMS from other pelvic malignancies. This study aimed to analyze and select CT features by using least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression and established a Fisher discriminant analysis (FDA) model for the quantitative diagnosis of pediatric pelvic RMS.

Patient-derived organoid (PDO) has become an important preclinical model. Herein, a living biobank with 50 CRLM organoids derived from primary tumors and paired liver metastatic lesions is successfully constructed.

Introduction: EEG (electroencephalogram) has been applied as a valuable measure to estimate drivers' mental status and cognitive workload during driving tasks. However, most previous studies have focused on the EEG features at particular driver status, such as fatigue or distraction, with less attention paid to EEG response in emergent and safety-critical situations. This study aims to investigate the underlying patterns of different EEG components during an emergent collision avoidance process.

Redirecting metabolic flux from cell growth to product synthesis at an appropriate culture timepoint is ideal for resolving this issue. In this report, we introduce optogenetics-which is capable of precise temporal and spatial control-as a genetic switch, accompanied by the endogenous type I-E CRISPRi system in () to generate a metabolic platform that redirects metabolic flux.

The immunosuppressive mice model was established by the intraperitoneal injection of 100 mg of cyclophosphamide (CTX) per kg body weight. The powders of Gushi Chicken Soup (GCS), Honglashan Chicken Soup (HCS), and Cobb Broiler Soup (CBS) were prepared by high-pressure stewing followed by spray drying.

Early diagnosis of cancer is crucial to initiate prompt treatment for better patient outcomes. The host immune function and its associated modulators are considered to be potential biomarkers for early cancer diagnosis. Immune and immune-checkpoint biomarkers have been reported to contribute to cancer development, while a high neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio has been shown to be associated with poor survival outcomes in a variety of cancers.

The actinomycete strain SPRI-371, isolated from soil collected in Jiangsu province, China, was classified as Streptomyces aureus based on its morphological, physiological, biochemical and molecular biological characteristics. Its bacterial activity metabolites were identified as aureonuclemycin (ANM), belonging to adenosine derivatives with the molecular formula C16H19N5O9 for ANM A and C10H13N5O3 for ANM B.

We hypothesized that over- or restricted-nutrition during gestation would alter the longissimus dorsi muscle (LM) proteome of offspring. Pregnant ewes were fed 60% (restricted), 100% (control), or 140% (over) of National Research Council requirements for total digestible nutrients from day 30 of gestation until parturition.

However, there is limited research on drivers' eco-driving performances, such as fuel consumption and emission, when drivers adapt their behaviors to the systems. In this study, an innovative two-stage in-vehicle intersection warning system was proposed to reduce red-light running (RLR) violations.
