Purpose: Neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST) is a systemic treatment for locally advanced or initially unresectable breast cancer before surgery. Patients achieved total pathological complete response (tpCR) after NST exhibited significantly better overall prognosis than patients with non-pCR.
Materials And Methods: This study collected baseline indicators, body composition indicators and tpCR results of breast cancer patients at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University.
Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) promotes atherosclerosis and plaque instability through chronic inflammation and immune dysregulation. Emerging evidence implicates members of the interleukin-1 family-particularly IL-36, IL-37, and IL-38-in the modulation of inflammatory responses in diabetic and non-diabetic vascular disease. However, their roles in carotid atherosclerosis remain poorly defined.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of the natural compound Licochalcone D (Lico D) on osteoclast differentiation and its therapeutic potential in ovariectomized (OVX) mouse models of osteoporosis.
Methods: The cytotoxicity of various doses of Lico D on mouse bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMMs) was evaluated using CCK-8 assays.

Cells sense and respond to forces from neighbouring cells and the extracellular matrix during growth and division. When cells undergo mitosis in a confined environment like in tumour environment, high compressive stress causes unstable cell cortex and prolonged mitosis. Confined mitotic cells frequently experience chromosome loss and multipolar division.

Purpose: In order to providing an experimental and theoretical bases for the clinical application of FR/NIR in myopia treatment, this work investigated the therapeutic efficacy and underlying mechanisms of far-red/near-infrared light (FR/NIR) intervention in lens-induced myopia (LIM) progression using a LIM guinea pig model.
Methods: In this study, 2-week-old healthy tricolor guinea pigs were randomly assigned to three groups: normal control (NC) group, LIM group and LIM treated with FR/NIR (LIM + FR/NIR) group. The guinea pigs in the LIM and LIM + FR/NIR groups wore a -6.

Aim: To examined the effects of a high-fat diet (HFD) on retinal pathological changes and dysfunction using peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-alpha (PPARα) knockout mice.
Methods: For four months, C57BL/6J and knockout mice received either HFD or a standard diet (SD). A fluorometric method was used to determine the retinal triglycerides.
Microtopography influenced the visibility of waterbirds to human activities, which effected the habitat selection of waterbirds. However, previous studies mainly used topographic data to explore the impact of hydrological conditions or vegetation factors on waterbird habitat selection, but largely ignored the discussion of human interference and were unable to fully explain the rules of waterbird habitat selection. This study focused on storks/cranes and shorebirds living in six waterbird habitats in Yancheng coastal area, China.

Forensic medicine is a niche interdisciplinary discipline in the medical system. However, current educational literature on professional identity development does not adequately address forensic medicine students.

Methods: We recruited 42 older adults with MCI and 29 healthy controls (HC). The cognitive performances were assessed with the auditory verbal learning test-HuaShan version, the Trail Making Test A, the Digit Span-Forward, and the Digit Span-Backward.
Background: Doxorubicin (DOX) is a widely used chemotherapeutic agent known for its efficacy against various cancers, but its clinical application is often limited by its cardiotoxic effects. The exact mechanisms of DOX-induced cardiotoxicity remain unclear, requiring further investigation. Early diagnosis is essential to enhance the quality of life and prognosis for patients with malignancies.

Despite significant advancements in chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, the prognosis for advanced NSCLC remains poor. The development of resistance to standard treatments and the lack of effective therapeutic options for heavily pretreated patients underscore the urgent need for novel treatment strategies.

However, few studies have proposed a comprehensive predictive model combined with clinical baseline data and ancillary examination before surgery.
Method: In a retrospective study, we collected data on 823 patients with AIS-LVO who had undergone endovascular therapy (EVT); 562 patients who achieved successful revascularization with complete clinical and prognostic information were incorporated into the study.
Introduction: Given that axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) may not contribute to local control or survival and could lead to increased arm morbidity, axillary de-escalation procedures have replaced ALND in patients achieving axillary pathologic complete response (apCR) after neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST). However, the application of targeted lymph node biopsy, one of the de-escalation procedures, remains limited due to a lack of long-term follow-up studies.
Methods And Analysis: This prospective, single-arm, open-label, non-inferiority, single-centre phase II trial targets breast cancer patients initially diagnosed with axillary metastasis who achieved apCR after NST.
This paper aims to introduce the use of the agile governance theory in improving the identification and processing speed of distorted health information on the internet to ensure the security of public health information and maintain the authenticity of the network environment. Use literature research and content analysis to summarize the governance challenges of distorted health information and the shortcomings of governance responses. The governance of distorted health information encounters difficulties such as the rapid release of information, frequent updates, and the diversity and anonymity of information publishers.

Currently, l-Phe is obtained via biosynthetic methods including microbial and enzymatic processes, but their tightly complex feedback regulation and lengthy reaction steps lead to a low practical yield of l-Phe. Here, we have designed a hierarchical Si-based photocathode for l-Phe synthesis by photoelectrochemical coupling of waste CO and nitrophenyl ethane, achieving a high yield rate of 37.

The total of 324 healthy male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 6 groups: control group (C), eccentric exercise group (E), eccentric exercise with acupuncture group (EA), EA with TRP channel blocker group (EAT), EA with NOX2 blocker group (EAN) and EA with placebo group (EAP). Gastrocnemius muscles were subject to lengthening contractions with percutaneous electrical stimulation, followed by immediate pretreatment with blocking agents.

Background: There is a known association between liver disease and retinopathy. However, the relationship between non-invasive fibrosis scores and retinal image changes remains unknown. The research sought to explore the link between Fibrosis-4 score (FIB-4) and Fibrosis-8 score (FIB-8) and retinal image changes.

The Red-crowned Crane (Grus japonensis) is a species unique to Asia, with a global population of about 3430. It was a Class I protected wild animal in China and was listed as vulnerable on the World Conservation Union (IUCN) Red List. The Red-crowned Crane was at the top of the food chain of wetland ecosystems and was one of the flagship species for wetland biodiversity conservation.

During the wintering season of 2022-2023, we conducted field surveys for waterbirds in two core wetlands (Shengjin Lake and Chao Lake located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, China) and their surrounding satellite wetlands (aquaculture ponds, paddy fields, reservoirs and natural ponds). The supporting contribution of each satellite wetland was quantified using ratios in terms of individual numbers (SI), species richness (SI), Shannon-Wiener index (SI) and compositional similarity (SI) relative to the corresponding core wetland.

Aims: The objective of the current study was to investigate the dynamic functional connectivity among large-scale brain networks in patients with insomnia, and to assess the efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) treatment in these individuals.
Methods: Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) data from 62 insomnia patients and 69 healthy controls were used to compare differences in dynamic functional connectivity between the two groups. A total of 26 insomnia patients underwent rTMS for four weeks.
