Background: Dietary patterns, as a comprehensive dietary indicator, may influence the risk of developing overactive bladder (OAB). However, it remains unclear whether dietary patterns independently affect the development of OAB.

Objective: This study aimed to identify specific dietary patterns using principal component analysis (PCA) and evaluate their associations with the risk of OAB, thereby providing new insights for OAB prevention and management.

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related mortality, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounting for approximately 85 % of cases. Despite advancements in diagnostics and therapies, tumor metastasis and drug-resistant recurrence present significant clinical challenges. This study evaluates the prognostic role of ADH1B in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) metastasis and recurrence.

Acute lung injury (ALI) frequently occurs after video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). Ferroptosis is implicated in several lung diseases. Therefore, the disparate effects and underlying mechanisms of the two commonly used anesthetics (sevoflurane (Sev) and propofol) on VATS-induced ALI need to be clarified.

Aristolochic acids (AAs) naturally occurring in the herbal genus Aristolochia are associated with a high risk of kidney failure, multiple tumors and cancers. However, approaches with high selectivity and rapidity for measuring AAs in biological samples are still inadequate. Inspired by the mechanism of AAs-induced nephrotoxicity, we designed a hybrid magnetic polymer-porous agarose (denoted as MNs@SiOM@DNV-A), mimicking the effect of basic and aromatic residues of organic anion transporter 1 (OAT1) for efficient enriching aristolochic acid I (AA I) and aristolochic acid II (AA II) in the plasma.

Background: Post-transcriptional regulation of mRNA induced by microRNA is known crucial in tumor occurrence, progression, and metastasis. This study aims at identifying significant miRNA-mRNA axes for stomach adenocarcinomas (STAD).

Method: RNA expression profiles were collected from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and GEO database for screening differently expressed RNAs and miRNAs (DE-miRNAs/DE-mRNAs).

Background: MicroRNA (miRNA) which can act as post-transcriptional regulators of mRNAs via base-pairing with complementary sequences within mRNAs is involved in processes of the complex interaction between immune system and tumors. In this research, we elucidated the profiles of miRNAs and target mRNAs expression and their associations with the phenotypic hallmarks of colorectal cancers (CRC) by integrating transcriptomic, immunophenotype, methylation, mutation and survival data.

Results: We conducted the analysis of differential miRNA/mRNA expression profile by GEO, TCGA and GTEx databases and the correlation between miRNA and targeted mRNA by miRTarBase and TarBase.

Hirudin, that is naturally occurring in leeches (Hirudo medicinalis) and known as the most potent natural inhibitor of thrombin, exerts double-edged effects in clinic application. It can be used as a therapeutic ingredient for cardiovascular disease, while it can be regarded as a toxic polypeptide with bleeding risk. Effective detection of hirudin in biological samples contributes greatly to reasonable therapy.

A widespread degenerative condition of the aorta, abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), severely endangers the health of middle-aged and elderly people. SPARC related modular calcium binding2 (SMOC2) is upregulated in the carotid arteries of rats with atherosclerotic lesions, but its function in AAA is still unknown. Therefore, the aim of this research was to evaluate the function of SMOC2 in AAA.

Glutaraldehyde disinfectant has been widely applied in aquaculture, farming, and medical treatment. Excessive concentrations of glutaraldehyde in the environment can lead to serious health hazards. Therefore, it is extremely important to develop high-performance glutaraldehyde sensors with low cost, high sensitivity, rapid response, fabulous selectivity, and low limit of detection.

Background: Angiogenesis is described as a complex process in which new microvessels sprout from endothelial cells of existing vasculature. This study aimed to determine whether long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) H19 induced the angiogenesis of gastric cancer (GC) and its possible mechanism.

Methods: Gene expression level was determined by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blotting.

Colorectal carcinomas with microsatellite instability high (MSI-H) are a distinctive group among colorectal cancers (CRCs). This study investigated the mutations of genes in the common signaling pathways and their potential clinical implications in MSI-H CRC. Twenty-five MSI-H tumors were selected from 384 primary CRCs, and the related clinical and pathological information were also collected from medical records.

The aim of this study is to analyze the characteristics of pediatric ovarian tumors (OTs) and evaluate treatment strategies for ovary-sparing tumorectomy (OST). Medical records of children from October 2011 to December 2021 were reviewed. Data regarding clinical characteristics, pathological type, and management of OST were analyzed.

Background: Lung cancer refers to the occurrence of malignant tumors in the lung, and squamous cell carcinoma is one of the most common pathological types of non-small cell lung cancer. Studies have shown that microRNAs (miRNAs) play an important role in the occurrence, development, early diagnosis, and treatment of lung cancer. This study aimed to explore the role and possible mechanism of MicroRNA-338-3p (miR-338-3p) in lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC).

Trehalose is commonly used as an impermeable cryoprotectant for cryopreservation of cells, but its cryoprotective mechanism has now not but been determined. This study investigated the cryopreservation impact of trehalose on buck semen cryopreservation and finished metabolic profiling of freeze-thawed media by way of the GC-MS-based metabolomics for the first time. Metabolic pattern recognition and metabolite identification by means of principal component analysis (PCA), partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) and metabolic pathway topology analysis revealed the results of trehalose on buck sperm metabolism at some point of cryopreservation.

Immunotherapy treatments, particularly immune checkpoint blockade, can result in benefits in clinical settings. But many pre-clinical and clinical studies have shown that resistance to anti-PD1 therapy frequently occurs, leading to tumor recurrence and treatment failure, including in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In this study, 10 patients with HCC were remedied with anti-PD1, and pre-treatment biopsy samples were sequenced for 289 nanostring panel RNA to compare responsive and non-responsive tumors to identify possible pretreatment biomarkers or targets of anti-PD1 therapeutic responses.
