Objectives: The characteristics of men who have sex with men (either exclusively or with both men and women; MSM) who engaged in casual sex among Chinese male university students have not been compared with the characteristics of men who have sex with only women (MSW). This information is important for tailoring targeted behavioral interventions to prevent human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/sexually transmitted infection (STI) transmission in this subgroup of MSM.
Methods: Data were derived from a large cross-sectional electronic questionnaire survey conducted at 13 universities in Zhejiang Province, China, in 2018.

The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has revealed that infectious diseases will present a significant worldwide threat for a long time in the future. Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDCs) worldwide have developed for nearly 80 years to fight against infectious disease and protect public health. However, at the advent of the 21th century, the responsibility for prevention and control of infectious diseases has gradually been marginalized in the CDC system.

To investigate the relationship between rs1053005 of signal conversion and transcription activator 3 (STAT3) and miR-452-3p, and the association between STAT3 gene polymorphism and noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) . In December 2017, 1220 workers were selected from an automobile manufacturing factory, an energy company and a chemical fiber factory in Jiangsu Province who had occupational noise exposure and working age of more than 3 years. The workers with the mean hearing threshold of ≥26 dB (A) of the two ear high frequency (3000, 4000 and 6000 Hz) were defined as case group (=609) , and the rest were control group (=611) .

We evaluated the iodine nutritional status and related factors among school-age children based on the 2016 National Nutrition and Health Surveillance of Children and Lactating Women; 3808 children from Hebei, Guangxi, and Zhejiang province were included in the study. Urinary iodine concentration (UIC), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), body mass index (BMI), vitamin A (VA), and vitamin D (VD) were measured. The abnormal rate of UIC and TSH were assessed.

Electrochemical sensing is an effective, low-cost technology for cancer detection. In this study, mesoporous TiO was prepared via biomimetic synthesis based on yeast cell templates, and used to prepare a modified electrode for the sensitive detection of pancreatic cancer miR-1290. The structure and the morphology of the TiO were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N adsorption-desorption isotherm (NADI), Atomic force microscopy (AFM), and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA).

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Osteoarthritis (OA), characterized by joint pain and cartilage degradation, is the most common form of joint disease worldwide but with no satisfactory therapy available. The ethanol extract of Agkistrodon acutus (EAA) has been widely used as a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for the treatment of arthralgia and inflammatory diseases, but there is no report regarding its efficacy on OA to date. Here, we determined the effects of EAA on the pain behavior and cartilage degradation in vivo and clarified its target genes and proteins associated with chondrocyte hypertrophy and apoptosis in vitro.

The microRNA-21 (miR-21) is known to play a major role in cancer progression; however, its function in the cardiovascular system appears to be even more complex and conflicting. To characterize miR-21 expression in the plasma of individuals with or without metabolic syndrome (MetS), 58 MetS cases and 96 non-MetS controls were investigated. Expression levels of miR-21 were significantly decreased in the circulation of MetS subjects (OR=0.
