Characteristics of men who have casual sex with men among Chinese university students: A cross-sectional study.

Objectives: The characteristics of men who have sex with men (either exclusively or with both men and women; MSM) who engaged in casual sex among Chinese male university students have not been compared with the characteristics of men who have sex with only women (MSW). This information is important for tailoring targeted behavioral interventions to prevent human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/sexually transmitted infection (STI) transmission in this subgroup of MSM.

Methods: Data were derived from a large cross-sectional electronic questionnaire survey conducted at 13 universities in Zhejiang Province, China, in 2018.

We evaluated the iodine nutritional status and related factors among school-age children based on the 2016 National Nutrition and Health Surveillance of Children and Lactating Women; 3808 children from Hebei, Guangxi, and Zhejiang province were included in the study. Urinary iodine concentration (UIC), thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), body mass index (BMI), vitamin A (VA), and vitamin D (VD) were measured. The abnormal rate of UIC and TSH were assessed.

Background: The aim of this study was to assess the treatment outcomes of multidrug and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (M/XDR-TB) in Zhejiang, China and to evaluate possible risk factors associated with poor outcomes of M/XDR-TB.

Methods: Two-hundred-and-sixty-two patients having M/XDR-TB who received the diagnosis and treatment at nine referral hospitals from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2016 in Zhejiang, China were included. All patients received second-line regimens recommended by WHO under the DOTS-Plus strategy.

Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis transmission among middle school students in Zhejiang Province, China.

Background: Despite significant advancements in the treatment and diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB) over the past decade, drug-resistant TB remains an increasing threat to public health. TB outbreaks are most commonly reported in schools considering the delay in TB diagnosis, sustained contact, and overcrowding observed in schools. This report describes multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) transmission in a school in Zhejiang Province.

Electrochemical sensing of pancreatic cancer miR-1290 based on yeast-templated mesoporous TiO modified electrodes.

Electrochemical sensing is an effective, low-cost technology for cancer detection. In this study, mesoporous TiO was prepared via biomimetic synthesis based on yeast cell templates, and used to prepare a modified electrode for the sensitive detection of pancreatic cancer miR-1290. The structure and the morphology of the TiO were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N adsorption-desorption isotherm (NADI), Atomic force microscopy (AFM), and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA).

Analysis of differential expression profile of miRNA in peripheral blood of patients with lung cancer.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Osteoarthritis (OA), characterized by joint pain and cartilage degradation, is the most common form of joint disease worldwide but with no satisfactory therapy available. The ethanol extract of Agkistrodon acutus (EAA) has been widely used as a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for the treatment of arthralgia and inflammatory diseases, but there is no report regarding its efficacy on OA to date. Here, we determined the effects of EAA on the pain behavior and cartilage degradation in vivo and clarified its target genes and proteins associated with chondrocyte hypertrophy and apoptosis in vitro.

Background: Cytolytic vaginosis (CV) is a common disease that results in pruritus, dyspareunia, and vulvar dysuria. However, the pathological mechanisms of the disease are still unclear. Methods: A case-control study was carried out to explore the independent effect of gene polymorphisms on risk of lung cancer, and the combined effects of gene loci. The stratification analysis of age, sex, smoking, and drinking combined with positive loci was also analyzed, and any interaction was identified.

Breast milk samples and 24-hour food records were obtained from lactating mothers on day 1 (colostrum), day 14 (transitional milk) and day 42 (mature milk) from Hangzhou (n = 202), Lanzhou (n = 133) and Beijing (n = 142), China.
