Bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS) is a life-threatening pulmonary manifestation of chronic graft versus host disease (cGVHD) post-allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), without clear standard of care. This study included 30 patients undergoing an allogeneic HSCT for a hematological malignancy and the outcomes with post-HSCT BOS treated with ruxolitinib as a salvage treatment were reviewed. After a median duration of ruxolitinib therapy of 9.

GBM (Glioblastoma multiform) is the most malignant tumor type of the central nervous system and has poor diagnostic and clinical outcomes. LncRNAs (Long non-coding RNAs) have been reported to participate in multiple biological and pathological processes, but their underlying mechanism remains poorly understood. Here, we aimed to explore the role of the lncRNA HAS2-AS1 (HAS2 antisense RNA 1) in GBM.

The transplant outcomes of non-first-degree (NFD) related donors in haploidentical haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (haplo-HSCT) remain unclear. This multi-centre analysis compared NFD and first-degree (FD) related donors in haplo-HSCT using a low-dose anti-T-lymphocyte globulin/G-CSF-mobilised peripheral blood stem cell graft-based regimen. Ninety-nine patients (33 NFD; 66 FD) were included.

Periosteal Tissue Engineering: Current Developments and Perspectives.

Adv Healthc Mater

June 2021

Department of Stomatology, The Ningbo Hospital of Zhejiang University, and Ningbo First Hospital, 59 Liuting street, Ningbo, Zhejiang, 315000, China.

Periosteum, a highly vascularized bilayer connective tissue membrane plays an indispensable role in the repair and regeneration of bone defects. It is involved in blood supply and delivery of progenitor cells and bioactive molecules in the defect area. However, sources of natural periosteum are limited, therefore, there is a need to develop tissue-engineered periosteum (TEP) mimicking the composition, structure, and function of natural periosteum.

Native decellularized extracellular matrix provides an adequate platform for tissues and organs and promotes the development of organogenesis and tissue remodeling. However, thrombosis poses a great challenge that hinders the transplantation for a substantial organ in vivo. Therefore, anticoagulation and re-reendothelialization of organ biological scaffolds are the primary concerns to be addressed before orthotopic transplantation.

Factors leading to the risk of stroke mortality: a cross-sectional study with lung cancer patient-based large sample.

Eur J Cancer Prev

January 2022

Shenzhen Mental Health Center, Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Mental Health, Shenzhen Kangning Hospital, Shenzhen, China.

To identify the risk factors for stroke mortality among lung cancer patients on the basis of the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. The clinical data of lung cancer patients diagnosed between 2004 and 2016 were collected in the SEER database. The stroke mortality of lung cancer patients was compared with the general population using standardized mortality ratios (SMRs).

Akt and its phosphorylation in nucleus accumbens mediate heroin-seeking behavior induced by cues in rats.

Addict Biol

September 2021

Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Addiction Research, Ningbo Kangning Hospital, School of Medicine, Ningbo University, China.

Akt is initially identified as one of the downstream targets of phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase (PI3K) and is involved in morphine reward and tolerance. However, whether phospholyration of Akt (p-Akt) mediates heroin relapse remains unclear. Here, we aimed to explore the role of p-Akt in the nucleus accumbens (NAc) in cue-induced heroin-seeking behaviors after withdrawal.

Purpose: Blind insertion limits the application of percutaneous peritoneal dialysis (PD) catheter placement. In this study, we first described the use of an optical puncture system in the PD catheter insertion, and investigated the feasibility and advantages of this modified technique.

Methods: This retrospective study included 65 patients with chronic kidney disease stage 5 (CKD5) who received ultrasound-guided percutaneous PD catheter insertion with or without optical puncture system assistance between June 2018 and July 2019.

September 2020

Department of General Internal Medicine, Ningbo First Hospital, Ningbo University, Ningbo 315010, China.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is characterized by irreversible airflow obstruction and chronic airway inflammation, caused by a combination of environmental and genetic factors. It is the third leading cause of death worldwide. In recent years, researchers have applied the genome-wide association study (GWAS) and identified a large number of genetic variants associated with lung functions and potential drug targets for treating COPD.

Recently, several long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) including MALAT1, UCA1, ENST00000483588, and ENST00000456270 have been implicated in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and we hypothesized that polymorphisms within these lncRNA genes might be genetic modifiers for the development of RA. A total of 10 potentially functional single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were selected and genotyped in 1198 participants, including 594 RA patients and 604 healthy controls. Significant associations of rs2882581 (G vs.

Chelerythrine is a natural benzo[c]phenanthridine alkaloid found in many herbs and displays a wide range of antitumor activities. Here, the present study tested their effects on prostate cancer cells. The addition of chelerythrine can significantly inhibit the proliferation of androgen-independent prostate cancer DU145 and PC-3 cells at the concentration of 5 and 10 μM, but not on androgen-dependent prostate cancer LNCaP cells as well as normal prostate epithelial cell line PrEC cells.

As an epigenetic modification, DNA hydroxymethylation plays a significant role in regulating gene expression. In recent years, there has been increasing evidence that suggests abnormal changes of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) and ten-eleven translocation (TET) family proteins in cardiovascular diseases, indicating cardiovascular diseases are closely connected with DNA hydroxymethylation. The level of DNA hydroxymethylation is affected by some common risk factors of atherosclerosis, such as aging, gender, hypertension and smoking.
