Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) demonstrate considerable promise for large-scale energy storage applications. However, their practical implementation faces substantial challenges stemming from persistent dendrite formation and detrimental interfacial side reactions, both originating from the thermodynamically unstable nature of the Zn-electrolyte interphase. Herein, we engineer a robust solid electrolyte interphase via rational molecular design by in situ grafting of poly(cyclotriphosphazene--4,4'-sulfonyldiphenol) (PZS) on Zn surfaces through polycondensation reactions.

CAS Key Laboratory of Chemistry of Northwestern Plant Resources and Key Laboratory for Natural Medicine of Gansu Province, Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Lanzhou, 730000, People's Republic of China. Electronic address:

High altitude cerebral edema (HACE) represents a potentially lethal manifestation of acute mountain sickness, associated with abnormal activation of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) and NF-κB inflammation pathway. Based on ortho-fluorophenyl pharmacophore and scaffold-hopping strategy, we designed and synthesized forty-three salidroside derivatives as HIF-1α inhibitors. Dual-luciferase reporter assay demonstrated that compound N41 exhibited the strongest HIF-1α inhibitory activity in HEK293T cells with an IC value of 2.

Organic materials have garnered increasing attention in aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) owing to their structural tunability, diversity, and sustainability. Nevertheless, their practical applications in AZIBs cathode remain hindered by challenges including low capacity, short cycle lifespan, and ambiguous ion insertion mechanisms. Herein, we strategically eliminate intramolecular hydrogen bonds in quinone-based organic molecule indanthrone through oxidation method, transforming it into multi-active-site quinone-imine compound oxidized indanthrone (oIDT).

The flow characteristics of gas-liquid two-phase flow significantly impact the operational efficiency of triple-screw pumps, playing a crucial role in the optimization of structural design and assembly of these pumps. To investigate the influence of gas volume fraction on the flow field and rotor of a triple-screw pump, a transient simulation analysis of the flow field in the multiphase triple-screw pump under different gas volume fraction conditions was conducted based on the Eulerian-Eulerian heterogeneous flow model and the immersed solid method. Furthermore, a mechanical simulation analysis of the rotor was performed based on the obtained results.

Hydrogel dressings have attracted considerable attention as essential tools for the treatment of skin wounds. In this study, a physically and chemically double cross-linked self-healing hydrogel (HPOCFe) was developed to promote skin wound healing. Through the dual network hydrogel strategy, the hydrogel not only overcomes the slow formation and recombination of covalent bonds in the chemical crosslinking network, but also overcomes the poor mechanical properties of the physical crosslinking network.

July 2025

School of Life Science and Engineering, Lanzhou University of Technology, No. 287 Langongping Road, Qilihe, Lanzhou, 730050, Gansu, People's Republic of China.

Selenium (Se) is a crucial trace element for human and animal health, contributing significantly in various physiological processes. However, its uneven global distribution leads to widespread deficiencies. Nano-selenium (selenium nanoparticles, SeNPs), with low toxicity and high bioavailability, emerges as a promising alternative, and microbial synthesis is the preferred method for its production.

State Key Laboratory of Multiphase Flow in Power Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an 710049, China.

The technology of atmospheric water harvesting, which relies on passive daytime radiative cooling, offers a viable method to obtain clean and circulating water for greenhouses in arid areas. However, efficient radiative cooling materials often entail complex structures or high costs. This study addresses the sustainability challenge of water circulation in arid-region greenhouses by proposing a low-cost water harvesting solution based on synergistic radiative cooling and bionic structures.

In this paper, a novel functional neural circuit model is proposed without embedding capacitors in the branch circuit, and the setting breaks the design limitation of traditional capacitor-based neural circuits. By replacing the capacitor with a charge-controlled memristor (CCM) for electric field energy storage and coupling a Josephson junction with a thermistor, the circuit achieves multi-physics field sensing capability for both external electromagnetic fields and temperature signals. Based on Kirchhoff's law and Helmholtz's theorem, we derive the dimensionless theoretical model from circuit equations and an exact Hamilton energy function is confirmed.

Podocan (PODN) has strong clinical diagnostic significance, and sorafenib is a versatile anti-cancer drug. Yet, neither the individual nor combined effects of PODN and sorafenib on papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) malignancy, nor their mechanisms, have been reported. We employed bioinformatics to pinpoint mRNAs significantly downregulated in PTC that negatively affected tumor cell migration.

To enhance the sensing performance of fiber-optic magnetic field sensors, we explored the design, optimization, and application prospects of a D-type fiber-optic magnetic field sensor. This D-type PCF-SPR sensor is metal coated on one side (the metal used in this study is gold), which serves as the active metal for SPR and enhances structural stability. Magnetic fluid is applied on the outer side of the gold film for SPR magnetic field sensing.

The demand for high conductivity often forces hydrogels to sacrifice their chiral ordered structure, and the addition of conductive materials may destroy the spatial arrangement of chiral components and reduce the stereoselectivity. To solve this problem, we introduced the heterojunction structure with good electron transport characteristics into the chiral hydrogel to obtain CoFe Prussian blue analogue/MoS@Chitosan hydrogel (PBA/MoS@CSH), and it exhibits interface catalytic activity and enantioselective recognition performance. The experimental and theoretical calculation results show that chitosan and its cross-linked PBA/MoS compounds complement each other.

Given the high communication cost in the existing rail structural health monitoring (SHM) system UGW-based and no GPRS signals in the tunnel, a novel communication method in the rail based on Barker encoding and improved pulse position modulation (IPPM) is proposed in this work. Firstly, to overcome the low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of UGW signals resulting from dispersion and multimodal properties, Barker codes are involved in encoding excitation signals for piezoelectric ultrasonic transducers. Besides, an IPPM method is presented to diminish the multipath effect, improving communication robustness.

The poor diffusion and transfer kinetics of Li is the critical bottleneck for energy and power density in thick electrodes. Here, we develop a 3D-printed magnesium silicate for solid-state integrated lipophilic additive engineering technology to fabricate thick electrodes, effectively mitigating concentration polarization caused by the Li gradient distribution. By grafting cetyltrimethylammonium, a cationic surfactant-modified inorganic filler (LCN) is prepared, which is added into the LiFePO (LFP) slurry for 3D printing into a porous 810 μm thick LFP cathode.

Base-isolated structures are extensively used in critical infrastructure and lifeline projects. Current response spectrum methodology for determining seismic actions has limitations in designing long-period base-isolated structures. Based on a two-degree-of-freedom (2DOF) model that accounts for the non-proportional damping characteristics of isolation bearings, this study analyzes the filtering characteristics of the isolation layers through spectral analysis of both original and attenuated ground motions.
