Intrinsic activity and accessibility of active sites are two fundamental descriptors for enhancing AgPO-based photocatalysts. However, simultaneously optimizing both parameters poses a significant challenge for AgPO-based heterojunction photocatalysts prepared by a conventional ion exchange precipitation method. This study demonstrates that AgPO/InO Z-scheme heterojunction prepared by pre-fabrication and post calcination method not only increases the electron transfer rate (boosts intrinsic activity) by introducing oxygen vacancies and constructing heterojunctions, but also obtains highly dispersed AgPO particles on the surface of hollow tubular InO after calcination treatment (enhances accessibility of active sites).

A water-stable ratiometric fluorescence probe based on casein-Tb-TiC quantum dots was developed for the highly sensitive and selective detection of ciprofloxacin. With the increase in ciprofoxacin concentration, the fluorescence intensity at 440 nm remained relatively stable, while the fluorescence emission at 543 nm exhibited progressive enhancement. This may be attributed to ciprofloxacin being able to effectively coordinate with Tb ions while displacing surrounding water molecules, leading to enhanced luminescence.

Enhanced activity of inhibitory neurons, which is often used to suppress behaviors of pyramidal neurons to treat brain diseases, whereas can enhance spiking to a mixed-mode bursting (MMB) in recent experiments on migraine and seizure. The MMB contains a phase with high level of membrane potential/extracellular potassium concentration ([K]), which can propagate to form spreading depolarization (SD) wave. Different from the common view that the MMB/SD is often induced by enhanced positive effect or [K], in the present paper, dynamics and conditions for the uncommon MMB/SD evoked by enhanced inhibitory synaptic current are obtained in a theoretical model.

COL17A1 is predominantly expressed in skin epithelial cells and primarily localized within hemidesmosomes. It plays an essential role in epidermal-dermal attachment. Consequently, a recombinant human-like COL17A1 protein (rhCOL17) with low molecular weight and high biocompatibility presents a promising and competitive biomaterial.

Titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) is a difficult-to-machine material, known for its excellent physical and chemical properties. However, traditional machining methods incur high tool wear costs when processing this material. The near-dry electrical discharge milling (N-EDM) method, which removes excess material via electroerosion, mitigates the impact of titanium alloy's hardness and strength, enabling effective material cutting.

We study the relaxation dynamics near the critical points of the Yang-Lee edge singularities (YLESs) in the quantum Ising chain in an imaginary longitudinal field with a polarized initial state. We find that scaling behaviors are manifested in the relaxation process after a non-universal transient time. We show that for the paramagnetic Hamiltonian, the magnetization oscillates periodically with the period being inversely proportional to the gap between the lowest energy level; for the ferromagnetic Hamiltonian, the magnetization decays to a saturated value; while for the critical Hamiltonian, the magnetization increases linearly.

Exosome is a kind of membranous vesicles released from cells and carry a number of important signaling molecules, they play an important role in cellular communication, cell migration, angiogenesis as well as tumor cell growth. Exosome-based cancer diagnosis is usually achieved by detecting exosomal nucleic acids, lipids, and surface proteins, as they reflect tumor type and progression. Here, we proposed a method to rapidly prepare an array of washable magnetic nanoparticles (magnetic beads, MBs) by a magnetic field controlled system, which facilitate the analyzing of exosome phenotypes via super-resolution tricolor fluorescence co-localization (SR-TFC) and pixel counting (CFPP).

The electrocatalytic oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) represents an environmentally friendly approach to generate high-value-added chemicals from biomass. The successful electrochemical transformation of HMF during the oxidation reaction (HMFOR) necessitates an ideal adsorption interaction between HMF and OH on the electrode surface. Yet, catalysts with a singular active site offer limited flexibility in managing the competitive adsorption of HMF and OH.

Volatile solid additives (VSAs) with single or fused-ring structures have attracted much attention for enhancing power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of organic solar cells (OSCs). While the working mechanisms of high-volatility single-ring additives have been well studied, the influence of low-volatility fused-ring VSAs on molecular aggregations and exciton/carrier dynamics remains still unclear. Herein, 3,6-dibromothieno[3,2-b]thiophene (3,6TTBr) is selected as a representative low-volatility fused-ring VSA to elucidate its working mechanism.

Cadmium (Cd), a widespread and serious environmental pollutant, has recently garnered increasing scientific scrutiny due to its profound adverse effects. Although the evidence for Cd-induced reproductive toxicity is well established, it remains elusive on the intricate dose-response relationship and underlying molecular mechanisms, especially for transgenerational toxicity in animals. Here, we employed fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) as a model organism to examine the reproductive performance across five generations by parental exposure to varying concentrations of Cd (5, 50, and 500 μM).

Introduction: Notwithstanding the fact that extensive studies focused on exploring generic structures in established disciplines, scant attention has been directed to macrostructures and rhetorical moves in RAs in some emerging disciplines.
Methods: Based on a self-compiled corpus of 50 research articles (RAs) from five top ranking journals in the field of Nanotechnology, we explored the macrostructures and rhetorical moves in RAs in Nanotechnology.
Results: It was found that (i) scientists in Nanotechnology have a propensity to employ a merged [R&D] structure to immediately discuss and contribute new knowledge tentatively in the specific contextualised situation after research results were presented, (ii) Even though RAs in Nanotechnology largely follows IMRD structure by abiding writing conventions in the research world, disciplinary variations were found regarding the rhetorical structures, specifically, scientists in Nanotechnology tend to employ more moves and steps in establishing research niche, detailed description of research methods, suggesting future research, but less moves and steps related to promotional strategies (M3S4, M3S5, M3S6).

Aniline in landfill leachate was used as a target pollutant and treated by a catalytic ozonation process (COP). The catalyst was based on waste iron shavings, which were oxidatively modified to form an iron-based ozonation catalyst (FOC), and subsequently compressed into an iron-based packing for catalyzing the ozonolysis of aniline (FCOP). The special porous structure of the compressed packing material enhanced the decomposition of O.
