This study investigated the relationship between genetic polymorphisms in the FAS gene and noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) risk among Chinese workers exposed to occupational noise, and the molecular mechanism of NIHL caused by noise. In this case-control study, 692 NIHL workers and 650 controls were selected for genotyping of four single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the FAS gene. Logistic regression was used to calculate the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) of the association of these genetic polymorphisms and NIHL.

Meningococcal serogroups A and C cause significant numbers of cases in China. The Sanofi Pasteur meningococcal polysaccharide A + C vaccine (Men-AC) was licensed in China in 1995. Immunogenicity and safety of a single dose of Men-AC against a similar marketed vaccine, the Lanzhou Institute serogroups A and C vaccine (Lanzhou-AC), were evaluated in children 2 to 6 y of age.

Background: In recent years, a boom of synthetic drugs, especially methamphetamine has been documented in China, however, the situation in Jiangsu was unclear. The objective of this study was to evaluate the changing trends in types of drug used, examine the prevalence trends of HIV, syphilis and HCV over time and compare the demographic, drug and sexual behaviors among different types of people who use drugs (PWD) in Jiangsu Province, China.
Methods: Consecutive cross-sectional studies were conducted from 2011 to 2015 in nine compulsory detoxification centers, which were HIV sentinel surveillance sites, in Jiangsu Province, China.

Shiga toxin-producing (STEC) infection causes a series of diseases that are highly pathogenic and deadly in humans and animals, seriously endangering public health. Of the pathogenic factors within STEC, the two groups of (Stx) consisting Stx1 and Stx2 plays a prominent role in the pathogenesis of STEC infection. In this study, we developed single-target up-converting phosphor technology-based lateral flow assay (Stx-UPT-LFA) for the rapid detection of Stx1 and Stx2, respectively, and also developed a dual-target Stx1/2-UPT-LFA based on single-target strips to detect of Stx1 and Stx2 at the meantime within 20 min.

Shigellosis is a highly infectious disease that is mainly transmitted via fecal-oral contact of the bacteria Shigella. Four species have been identified in Shigella genus, among which Shigella flexneri is used to be the most prevalent species globally and commonly isolated from developing countries. However, it is being replaced by Shigella sonnei that is currently the main causative agent for dysentery pandemic in many emerging industrialized countries such as Asia and the Middle East.

Background: The correlation of unintentional injury mortality to rising temperatures found in several studies could result from changes in behavior that increases exposure to hazards or risk when exposed. Temperature, precipitation and air pollutants may contribute to symptoms and distractions that increase risk or avoidance behavior that reduces risk. This study examines data that allows estimates of the relation of daily maximum temperature, precipitation and ozone pollution to injury mortality risk, each corrected statistically for the correlation with the others.

Diabetes is one of the typical chronic diseases, and its incidence is related to many environmental factors. At present, there is no radical cure for diabetes, so the prevention of diabetes is particularly important. In order to effectively prevent the occurrence of diabetes, it is necessary to understand the conditions leading to the occurrence of diabetes.

The COVID-19 pandemic is creating a havoc situation across the globe that modern society has ever seen. Despite of their paramount importance, the transmission routes of SARS-Cov-2 still remain debated among various sectors. Evidences compiled here strongly suggest that the COVID-19 could be transmitted via air in inadequately ventilated environments.

: There are few published studies concerning occupational exposure to glyphosate (GLY), and these are limited to spraying, horticulture and other agricultural aspects. Therefore, the concentration of glyphosate and its metabolite aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA), in the urine of workers exposed to glyphosate during glyphosate production was determined, and the relationship between internal (urinary glyphosate and AMPA concentration) and external exposure dose (time weighted average (TWA) value of glyphosate in the air of workplace) was analyzed. : To avoid the influence of preparations, we selected people who were only involved in GLY production (without exposure to its preparations) as our research subjects.

Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is one of the most common occupational health risks in industrialized countries. It has been recognized to result from interactions between genetic and environmental factors. This study investigated the influence of genetic mutations in the potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily E regulatory subunit 1 (KCNE1) gene on susceptibility to NIHL.

Introduction: Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is a common occupational disease that represents an irreversible hearing damage to the auditory system. It has been identified as a complicated disease involving both environmental and genetic factors. More efforts need to be made to explore the genes associated with susceptibility to NIHL.

To investigate the health status of occupational mercury workers and reveal the effects of mercury exposure on the cardiovascular system. In June 2019, a total of 2651 mercury workers participated in the occupational health examination between 2016-2018 from a thermometer manufacturing plant and a fluorescent lamp manufacturing plant were included in this study. Then, they were divided into a high-level mercury exposure group (425 workers whose urine mercury concentration >35 μg/g creatinine) and a low-mercury mercury exposure group (2226 workers whose urinary mercury concentration <35 μg/g creatinine) .

Long-term and continuous noise exposure can result in noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL), which is a worldwide problem resulting from the interaction of environmental and genetic factors. The ATP2B2 gene polymorphism can destroy cochlear hair cells and increase the risk of NIHL. A case-control study of 760 Chinese textile workers was conducted to investigate the relationship between polymorphisms and NIHL susceptibility.
