Background: Premature infants have less physiologic reserve and often delayed vaccination compared to full-term infants. The birth dose of hepatitis B vaccine (HepB-BD) is an essential measure to achieve the goal of "zero infections" of hepatitis B virus in all newborns. However, there are few investigations of hepatitis B vaccination of preterm infants, leading to uncertainty of coverage and insufficient knowledge of factors influencing timely vaccination of this important population.

Background: Hybrid immunity (a combination of natural and vaccine-induced immunity) provides additional immune protection against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) reinfection. Today, people are commonly infected and vaccinated; hence, hybrid immunity is the norm. However, the mitigation of the risk of Omicron variant reinfection by hybrid immunity and the durability of its protection remain uncertain.

Article Synopsis
  • This study examined the link between PM 2.5 air pollution and blood pressure (BP) among 36,792 adults in southeast China, focusing on specific chemical components of PM 2.5.
  • Quantile regression models showed that as levels of PM 2.5 and its chemicals (like ammonium and black carbon) increased, both systolic and diastolic blood pressure rose, especially in individuals with initially high BP.
  • The findings indicate that long-term exposure to PM 2.5, particularly ammonium and black carbon, significantly raises BP risk, with stronger effects observed in high BP quantiles.

Article Synopsis
  • The study modified the classic SIR model to a more comprehensive SVEIR model to analyze the transmission and clinical characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 variants during COVID-19.
  • It utilized data from Fujian Province to fit the model to different COVID-19 epidemics, assessing key epidemiological factors like reproduction numbers and sensitivity to variant changes.
  • Findings indicated that variants evolved to become more infectious with shorter incubation periods, revealing the need for ongoing non-pharmaceutical interventions to manage severe infections and future variant risks.

Background: The structure of age groups and social contacts of the total population influenced infection scales and hospital-bed requirements, especially influenced severe infections and deaths during the global prevalence of COVID-19. Before the end of the year 2022, Chinese government implemented the national vaccination and had built the herd immunity cross the country, and announced Twenty Measures (November 11) and Ten New Measures (December 7) for further modifications of dynamic zero-COVID polity on the Chinese mainland. With the nation-wide vaccination and modified measures background, Fuzhou COVID-19 large wave (November 19, 2022-February 9, 2023) led by Omicron BA.

DTaP-HBV-IPV-Hib hexavalent vaccine has been used in high-income countries for many years to prevent diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, poliomyelitis, and invasive Haemophilus influenzae type b disease. Currently, no hexavalent vaccines have been approved for use in China. Evidence of parental acceptance and interest in hexavalent vaccines can help policy makers and manufacturers make decisions about entering the vaccine market and the immunization program in China.

Objective: To investigate the population distribution of intermediate host snails and crabs of along the Jiulongjiang River, Zhangjiang River, and Dongxi River basins in Bopingling Mountain, southern Fujian Province, so as to provide baseline data for researches on parasitic disease prevention and control and enlargement of samples in the parasitic resource bank.

Methods: A total of 23 villages in 8 counties (districts) along the Jiulong River, Zhangjiang River, and Dongxi River basins in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province were selected as survey sites during the period from November 2020 through March 2023, and snail and freshwater crabs were sampled from 1 to 3 streams and ditches neighboring residential areas in each village. Morphological identification of snails was performed according to the external morphological characteristics of collected snail shells, and the unidentified snail species sampled from the natural foci of paragonimiasis in Yunxiao County were subjected to se-quence analysis of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase 1 () gene.

In this study, we proposed two, symptom-dependent, HIV/AIDS models to investigate the dynamical properties of HIV/AIDS in the Fujian Province. The basic reproduction number was obtained, and the local and global stabilities of the disease-free and endemic equilibrium points were verified to the deterministic HIV/AIDS model. Moreover, the indicators $ R_0^s $ and $ R_0^e $ were derived for the stochastic HIV/AIDS model, and the conditions for stationary distribution and stochastic extinction were investigated.
