Diabetic foot ulcers are severe diabetic complications, and promoting impaired angiogenesis is essential for wound healing. Pro-angiogenic galectin-3 is elevated in diabetic serum and promotes systemic insulin resistance that may impair wound healing. However, the exact role of galectin-3 in the regulation of diabetic wound healing remains unclear.

Herbal medicines offer a natural and safe alternative to antibiotics, functioning as immunostimulants to enhance immune responses, growth performance, and disease resistance in aquaculture species. This study investigated the efficacy of dietary sanguinarine (SA), a quaternary benzophenanthridine alkaloid, in augmenting immunity and protecting largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) against Aeromonas dhakensis infection. In vitro assays determined the potent antibacterial activity of SA against A.

The construction of cell culture platform regulating platelets, endothelial cells (ECs) and Smooth muscle cells (SMCs) may provide more help to promote endothelial repair. In this work, a novel versatile cell research platform UV-P-PDA@TiO was constructed by magnetron sputtering and photoetching.

However, a challenge arises in the alkylation of nitro compounds with sp-hybridized carbon due to competing nonproductive O-alkylation. In this study, we have developed a manganese-promoted oxidative alkylation of nitroalkanes using cyclopropyl alcohols via a solvent-caged free-radical nucleophilic substitution pathway.

Methods: A retrospective collection of 331 patients with pathologically confirmed renal masses were enrolled in this study. Two radiologists independently assessed the CT images: in addition to heterogeneity score (HS) and mass-to-cortex corticomedullary attenuation ratio (MCAR), measured parameters included ratio of major diameter to minor diameter at the maximum axial section (Major axis / Minor axis), tumor-renal interface, standardized heterogeneity ratio (SHR), and standardized nephrographic reduction rate (SNRR).
Based on a prototype of the Beijing subway tunnel, this research conducts large-scale model experiments to systematically investigate the vibration response patterns of tunnels with different damage levels under the influence of measured train loads. Initially, the polynomial fitting modal identification method (Levy) and the model test preparation process are introduced. Then, using time-domain peak acceleration, frequency response function, frequency-domain modal frequency, and modal shape indicators, a detailed analysis of the tunnel's dynamic response is conducted.

NKTCL is a highly aggressive malignant tumor, especially prevalent in the southern regions of China. Although chemotherapy regimens based on ADM have achieved certain therapeutic effects in early treatment, the issue of ADM resistance severely limits the therapeutic efficacy and makes it difficult to improve patient survival rates. Our research results indicate that the expression level of APOC1 is closely related to the sensitivity of NKTCL cells to ADM.

Background: To analyze the demographic characteristics of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in China, attempting to propose optimized screening criteria and hopefully providing valuable information for future updates to the ROP guideline.
Methods: A multicenter, retrospective-cohort study was conducted. The study included infants born between January 1, 2018, and July 31, 2023, who underwent ROP screening and were diagnosed with ROP at seven screening centers in China.
Backgrounds: Dupilumab has demonstrated remarkable efficacy and safety in clinical trials for moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (AD). However, long-term real-world evidence, especially in the Chinese population, remains limited.
Objective: To investigate the long-term efficacy and safety of dupilumab for moderate-to-severe AD in a real-world clinical setting in China and analyze factors that may influence its long-term treatment outcomes.
Background: Chronic inflammation is closely related to the occurrence and progression of many cancers, especially colorectal cancer (CRC), which can be triggered by repeated and sustained induction of colitis in mice. CRC is a typical type of cancer that can be caused by inflammation and NLRP3 inflammasome dysregulation plays a certain role in the pathogenesis of CRC.
Purpose: As an edible Chinese medicine, Abrus cantoniensis Hance (ACH) has both anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor activities.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical efficacy of foldable capsular vitreous body (FCVB) filled with either light or heavy silicone oil and the incidence of complications after their implantation for the treatment of severe ocular trauma and silicone oil-dependent eyes.
Methods: FCVB filled with either light (n = 16) or heavy (n = 8) silicone oil was implanted in 24 patients. During the 12-month follow-up period, the intraocular pressure, final best-corrected visual acuity, retinal reattachment condition, position of the FCVB, and complications were assessed.
The extensive use of herbicide metamifop (MET) in rice fields for weeds control will inevitably lead to its entering into water environments and threaten the aquatic organisms. Previous researches have demonstrated that sublethal exposure of MET significantly affected zebrafish development. Yet the long-term toxicological impacts of MET on aquatic life remains unknown.

Strobilurin fungicides (SFs) are commonly used in agriculture worldwide and frequently detected in aquatic environments. High toxicity of SFs to aquatic organisms has caused great concerns. To explore whether vitamin E (VE) can relieve the toxicity caused by pyraclostrobin (PY), zebrafish were exposed to PY with or without VE supplementation.

Numerous pathological conditions such as COVID-19 and metabolic disorders can lead to a heightened thrombotic risk; however, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Our study illustrates that 2-methylbutyrylcarnitine (2MBC), a branched-chain acylcarnitine, is accumulated in patients with COVID-19 and in patients with MACEs.

Background: Retinal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) serves as a significant contributor to ocular diseases, triggering a cascade of pathological processes. The interplay between neuroinflammation and the apoptosis of retinal ganglion cell (RGC) is a well-explored aspect of retinal I/R-induced tissue damage. Within this intricate landscape, the inflammatory cytokine Interleukin-21 (IL21) emerges as a potent mediator of neuroinflammation with known detrimental effects on neuronal integrity.

However, its role in the incubation of cocaine craving remains largely unknown. Using an extended-access self-administration model and in vivo H-magnetic resonance spectroscopy, we found that lactate synthesis in the central amygdala (CeA) is required for the intensified cocaine craving after prolonged withdrawal.

Background: Juvenile polyposis syndrome (JPS) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder that is a type of hamartomatous polyp syndrome, and its incidence rate is approximately 1/100000. The main clinical feature is the presence of multiple juvenile polyps in the gastrointestinal tract, most often in the colorectal tract. We present a case of juvenile polyposis syndrome with massive gastric polyposis.
