The persistent challenge of sepsis-related mortality underscores the necessity for deeper insights, with our multi-center cross-age cohort study identifying insulin-like growth factor binding protein 6 (IGFBP6) as a critical regulator in sepsis diagnosis, prognosis, and mortality risk evaluation. Mechanistically, IGFBP6 engages in IGF-independent binding to prohibitin2 (PHB2) on epithelial cells, driving PHB2 tyrosine phosphorylation during sepsis. This process disrupts STAT1 phosphorylation, nuclear translocation, and its recruitment to the CCL2 promoter, ultimately impairing CCL2 transcription and macrophage chemotaxis.

Background: Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a life-threatening gastrointestinal disorder in neonates, yet the role of Activin A (ACV A) in NEC pathogenesis remains unclear.
Methods: NEC was induced in neonatal mice through hypoxia, hypothermia, LPS, and formula feeding. An in vitro intestinal epithelial injury model was established using LPS-stimulated IEC-6 cells.
Introduction: Changes in oral neutrophil number and function may occur in patients after orthodontic treatment, affecting the oral immune microenvironment. To study the influence of in situ biochar (BC) capping technique on the release of ammonia nitrogen (NH-N) from sediments, a field mesocosm experiment was conducted in Baiyangdian Lake (BYDL), a critical water body often referred to as the "kidney of North China" where sediment pollution poses a significant threat to water quality. Background: Sepsis is characterized by a life-threatening syndrome caused by an unbalanced host response to infection. Fibroblast growth factor 8 (FGF8) has been newly identified to play important roles in inflammation and innate immunity, but its role in host response to sepsis is undefined.
Methods: A cecal ligation and puncture (CLP)-induced mouse sepsis model was established to evaluate the immunomodulatory function of FGF8 during sepsis.
Objectives: The Functional Clear Aligner (FCA) is a novel orthodontic appliance designed for the treatment of Class II malocclusion with mandibular retrognathia in adolescents. The aim of this study was to investigate the biomechanical characteristics of the masticatory muscles, jawbone, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) during mandibular advancement using either FCA or Class II elastics combined with clear aligner (Class II elastics) through finite element analysis.
Materials And Methods: A 3D finite element model of the 'muscle-jawbone-TMJ-appliance' system was constructed based on CBCT and MRI images of a boy with skeletal Class II malocclusion.

Background: Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is an inflammatory and necrotizing intestinal emergency that occurs in preterm infants and low birth weight newborns; however, no specific serum biomarkers for the diagnosis of NEC has been identified so far.
Methods: Serum samples were collected from healthy neonatal controls and patients with NEC newly admitted to the Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. ELISA was used to measure serum PK2 levels, and ROC curve analysis was sued to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of PK2 and other clinical biomarkers.

Objectives: This study was aimed to clarify the incidence, severity, and clinical risk factors for white spot lesions (WSLs) in adolescent patients treated with clear aligners.
Methods: Pre-treatment and post-treatment intraoral photographs of 203 adolescent patients undergoing clear aligner therapy were retrospectively evaluated to assess the occurrence and severity of WSLs. Information on patients' general oral condition and orthodontic treatment was collected from clinical medical documents, retrospective questionnaires, and ClinCheck® software.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects over 50 million elderly individuals worldwide. Kawasaki disease is a pressing acute self-limiting inflammatory disorder disease which lack of specific biomarkers. Our research aims to investigate the serum expression of a novel immune regulator PK2 in children with Kawasaki disease and to evaluate the ability of PK2 to predict Kawasaki disease.
