This paper innovatively proposes a single-fiber optical tweezers probe based on a tapered microcavity optical waveguide. This design leverages the dual characteristics of the fiber LP21 mode to achieve dual-mode, high-precision rotational manipulation of cells: on one hand, by precisely controlling the fiber twist angle, the LP21 mode spot can be rotated regularly, driving cells trapped by the optical tweezers on the outer wall of the tapered microtube to undergo controlled "orbital rotation" along the tube wall in the y-z plane; on the other hand, by adjusting the fiber stretching degree to modulate the LP21 mode spot energy distribution, the multi-physical fields (including optical, flow fields, etc.) at the microtube port are altered, inducing an optically induced vortex to drive cells at the port to perform controlled "spin rotation" in the x-y plane.

Background: The relationship between disease activity and quality of life (QoL) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients was explored using network analysis. The focus of network analysis has recently shifted from studying individual groups to comparing the network structures of different subgroups. RA patients with depressive symptoms generally have lower QoL scores, so we compared the QoL networks of RA patients with and without depressive symptoms to test for differences.

Wearable sensor offers a non-invasive platform for continuous monitoring of biomarkers, but their application remains challenging due to low target level and stability issue in sweat. Here, we proposed a wearable sensing system comprising a flexible field-effect transistor (FET) integrated with a microfluidic sweat collection channel for real-time monitoring of dopamine in sweat. By functionalizing the recognition layer of FET using high-entropy Prussian blue analogues (HEPBAs), the sensor not only enables direct and selective catalysis of dopamine but also amplifies the response signal for trace dopamine determination.

A 3×3 matrix-based algorithm is, to our knowledge, first proposed for designing a multi-pass optical absorption cell with higher precision. Compared to previous publications based on the traditional 2×2 matrix, the proposed algorithm can effectively avoid paraxial approximation and directional astigmatism simultaneously by defining matrix elements with five key parameters. To demonstrate its applicability, various numerical simulations were investigated theoretically and verified with experimental results; a good agreement was also obtained by comparing with commercial TracePro software.

Ferroptosis, an iron-dependent form of regulated cell death driven by redox dysregulation, is defined by iron overload, reactive oxygen species overproduction, and subsequent peroxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acid-containing phospholipids, notably glycerophospholipids. This review comprehensively delineates the enzymatic such as lipoxygenases and non-enzymatic including Fenton reaction pathways governing glycerophospholipid peroxidation. Furthermore, we systematically dissect fine regulation of iron ions, including absorption, transport, and redox state transition.

Emerging swine enteric coronaviruses (SeCoV) pose significant threats to global pork security, with zoonotic porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) demonstrating cross-species transmission potential. Here, we identified a new PDCoV strain, CHN/GD/2023, which was isolated from porcine intestinal epithelium, showing phylogenetic clustering with China-endemic variants through viral spike (S) protein evolutionary tracing. A vaccine candidate for PDCoV was produced by genetically fusing the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of CHN/GD/2023 to the C-terminus of the AP205 gene.

Aims: Novel and multimodal immunotherapy approaches are required for pancreatic cancer. A novel subset of NKT cells, called CD8+ NKT-like cells or variant NKT (vNKT) cells, which are CD8 CD56, CD1d-independent with variant TCR, have been reported to provide potent anti-tumor immunity. With positive immune regulations of stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) reported in previous studies, we hypothesize that there might be a synergy of SBRT with immunotherapy.

Although lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries have attracted considerable research attention, several critical barriers must be overcome to bridge the gap between laboratory-scale achievements and practical commercial applications. For example, the notorious polysulfide shuttle effect, severe electrode volume changes, and challenging solid-liquid-solid conversion reactions. In this study, we have developed a multifunctional binder by incorporating cobalt(II) phthalocyanine (CoPc) into conventional poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) at a relatively lower processing temperature, which induces the phase transformation of α-PVDF to β-PVDF, thereby constructing an enhanced localized electric field with three advantages: (1) superior adsorption capabilities and catalytic activity, (2) robust mechanical properties that accommodate substantial volume fluctuations during cycling, and (3) excellent hydrophobic properties allowing for long-term storage in air.

The simultaneous classical and continuous variable quantum communication can allow classical communication and continuous variable quantum key distribution with a local local oscillator (LLO CVQKD) to be implemented simultaneously using the same communication architecture. Such scheme enables LLO CVQKD to be integrated with classical communication at the minimum cost, but the existence of reference pulses will bring security loopholes to the simultaneous communication system, allowing eavesdroppers to launch attacks. In this paper, we analyze and simulate the performance of the system by introducing the trusted noise model under the phase reference pulse intensity attack, where Eve can hide her attack by manipulating the intensity of the reference pulse using a phase insensitive amplifier.

Automatic and precise multi-class vertebrae segmentation from CT images is crucial for various clinical applications. However, due to similar appearances between adjacent vertebrae and the existence of various pathologies, existing single-stage and multi-stage methods suffer from imprecise vertebrae segmentation. Essentially, these methods fail to explicitly impose both contour precision and intra-vertebrae voxel consistency constraints synchronously, resulting in the intra-vertebrae segmentation inconsistency, which refers to multiple label predictions inside a singular vertebra.
