Cataracts, a widely prevalent ocular pathology, engender visual impairment and emerge as a primary etiological factor contributing to ocular blindness. Substantial evidence substantiates that epithelial-mesenchymal transition stands prominently among the pivotal causative factors associated with this debilitating condition. However, the underlying mechanism remains unclear.

Objective: Emergence agitation (EA) is a common and challenging postoperative problem in children. We aim to investigate the effect of ultrasound-guided lumbar plexus block on emergence agitation in children undergoing hip surgery.
Methods: This prospective, randomized, controlled study was conducted in children aged 1-6 year undergoing elective hip surgery.
Background And Objectives: So far, little is known about early macular microcirculation changes in nonfunctioning pituitary adenomas (NFPA), particularly in patients before visual field defects (VFD) occur. The aim of our study was to evaluate the early retinal microcirculation alteration in NFPA before VFD by wide-field swept source optical coherence tomography (WF SS-OCTA).
Methods: A total of 64 NFPA patients without VFD and 64 healthy controls were included.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is considered one of the main causes of cancer-related deaths. Rho family-interacting cell polarization regulator 1 () is a new Rho effector protein, and its abnormal expression may be related to various tumors. However, its expression and significance in CRC are still unclear.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common malignancies globally and a major cause of cancer-related deaths. In the molecular diagnosis of CRC, microsatellite instability (MSI) status and mutations in genes such as , , and are important molecular markers. Traditional molecular detection methods are costly and time-consuming.

However, the rational design of ZIF-67-derived materials with highly exposed metal active sites remains a critical challenge. Here, a carbon nitride (g-CN) supported ZIF-67 derivatives (Co-GNC), featuring highly dispersed cobalt (Co) nanoparticles, was developed for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation to degrade sulfamethoxazole (SMX).

Background: Headache is one of the leading causes of disability in worldwide and in China, and the second most burden disease of the nervous system after stroke. We aimed to analyze the global trends in the burden of headache disorders, migraine and TTH among people in China in an international context.
Methods: Data were taken from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study 2021 database to examine trends in the incidence, prevalence, and disability-adjusted life year of headache disorders.
Alleviating cadmium (Cd) risk in paddy soils is a global research hotspot. Although biochar reduces Cd mobility, a holistic perspective on the effects of biochar on Cd fraction distribution in rice rhizosphere and its immobilization mechanisms is lacking. Here, we developed a pathway model that links soil physicochemical properties, IP formation, enzyme activity, microbial biomass, porewater nutrients, and soil Cd fractions to fill knowledge gaps.

In this work, polylactic acid mulch film (PLA-MF) was successfully modified by nitrogen-doping titanium dioxide (N-TiO) and g-CN composites (N-TiO/g-CN, defined as g-CNNT), which was used for the photocatalytic degradation of carbendazim (CBD) in water and soil under visible light irradiation. In water system, the PLA-MF/g-CNNT exhibited excellent photocatalytic performance for CBD removal with the 99 % of degradation efficiency after 7 h.

The disease has no specific clinical manifestations and is often diagnosed by pathological examination as a complication of intestinal perforation or obstruction. The difficulty of making a timely diagnosis is further compounded when the disease begins with non-gastrointestinal symptoms.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most detrimental tumors to human health. Although multimodal therapeutic approaches can improve patient survival rates, the prognosis for advanced-stage patients remains poor. It has been reported that family with sequence similarity 60, member A (FAM60A), a component of the SIN3 transcription regulator family member A (SIN3A)/histone deacetylase (HDAC) complex, plays a significant role in tumorigenesis.

The progression of CVD is closely associated with endothelial damage, plaque formation, and thrombosis, driven by long-term alterations in vascular endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, microglia, and other immune-inflammatory cells. Among the key molecular pathways involved, the Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK-STAT) signaling pathway plays a central role.

Establishing a robust and intimate mucosal interface that allows medical devices to remain within lumen-confined organs for extended periods has valuable applications, particularly for gastrointestinal theranostics. Here, we report the development of an electroadhesive hydrogel interface for robust and prolonged mucosal retention after electrical activation (e-GLUE). The e-GLUE device is composed of cationic polymers interpenetrated within a tough hydrogel matrix.

Due to challenges such as operator dependence, noise, limited field of view, difficulty in imaging through bone and air, and variability across different systems, diagnosing abnormalities in ultrasound images is particularly challenging for less experienced clinicians. The development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology could assist in the diagnosis of ultrasound images.

We examined relevant articles published from 1975 through 2022 that explored various properties of the muscle and related tissues in humans and rhesus monkeys. These properties include geometry, elasticity, rigidity, and composition, and were studied using a range of imaging technologies, computer models, and surgical methods.

As one of the fundamental physical quantities, temperature is extremely important in various fields. In order to study the temperature sensing characteristics of dual-emitting center phosphors, Bi-doped and Bi/Sm-doped SrGaGeO phosphors were synthesized by high-temperature solid-phase method. Under 312 nm excitation, the SrGaGeO:Bi phosphor exhibits a blue broadband emission corresponding to the P → S transition of Bi ions.

These protective effects are closely associated with the enhancement of regulatory T (Treg) cell numbers and function in the intestine, as well as the inhibition of intestinal γδ T cell production and their migration to the brain. This study aimed to elucidate the potential mechanism by which EA regulates intestinal Treg cell differentiation after stroke.

Purpose: To present a case of delayed recurrent hyphema following toric ICL implantation.
Observations: This case reports a 24-year-old Asian female who presented with sudden decrease in vision in the right eye, accompanied by recurrent massive anterior chamber hemorrhage, six months after bilateral implantation of toric ICL with central holes for myopia correction. Despite initial conservative treatment with immobilization and intraocular pressure (IOP)-lowering medication at another hospital, the hyphema persisted.

Our previous studies have demonstrated that konjac glucomannan (KGM) can prevent dysbiosis induced by antibiotics. While exercise may also impact the gut microbiome, there are limited studies reporting its protective effect on antibiotic-induced dysbiosis. Therefore, this study investigated the preventive and regulatory effects of a combination of 6-week exercise and KGM intervention on antibiotic-induced dysbiosis in C57BL/6J mice compared with a single intervention.
