The pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (UC) involves genetic, immunological, and environmental factors as well as gut microbiota dysbiosis. As a natural antioxidant with various pharmacological activities widely present in Oleaceae plants, oleuropein (OLE) exhibits anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antiviral, hypoglycemic, and cardioprotective effects. It has been validated that OLE extracted from olive oil can ameliorate UC.

Recently, tensor singular value decomposition (t-SVD)-based methods were proposed to solve the low-rank tensor completion (LRTC) problem, which has achieved unprecedented success on image and video inpainting tasks. The t-SVD is limited to process third-order tensors. When faced with higher-order tensors, it reshapes them into third-order tensors, leading to the destruction of interdimensional correlations.

Quantum systems subject to random unitary evolution and measurements at random points in spacetime exhibit entanglement phase transitions which depend on the frequency of these measurements. Past work has experimentally observed entanglement phase transitions on near-term quantum computers, but the characterization approach using entanglement entropy is not scalable due to exponential overhead of quantum state tomography and postselection. Recently, an alternative protocol to detect entanglement phase transitions using linear cross entropy was proposed, attempting to eliminate both bottlenecks.

Background: Both sleep disorders and chronic kidney disease (CKD) are recognized as significant public health concerns. In the general population, sleep disorders have been shown to be associated with frailty in the elderly. This study aims to evaluate the association between sleep duration and trouble sleeping with frailty in CKD patients, as well as the potential interactive effect between these two factors.

Purpose: In order to address the global public health concern of colitis, this study was conducted to investigate the beneficial effect of Lactobacillus plantarum LR002 (LR) on the remission of ulcerative colitis (UC) in mice and to explore the possible underlying mechanisms.

Methods: The effect of LR on UC was analyzed by using dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced UC model in mice (n = 9). To assess the therapeutic effect of LR on UC in mice, the disease activity index (DAI) of mice, histopathological alterations, intestinal epithelial barrier integrity, and intestinal microflora were determined.

Background: The biological functions of mitochondrial complexes are closely related to the development of atrial fibrillation (AF). Calcium binding and coiled-coil domain 2 (CALCOCO2) is a novel and specific receptor for mitophagy; however, its function in AF remains unknown. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the role and molecular mechanisms of CALCOCO2 in AF, especially its regulatory mechanism in mitophagy and mitochondrial stress.

It is universally acknowledged that ligands can improve the reaction activity to simplify the reaction operating conditions and enrich the applicability of the reaction. Therefore, we developed -octylglycine ligand-accelerated Pd-catalyzed -arylation of benzoic acids under mild conditions with just 6 h; moreover, this -octylglycine ligand was successfully implemented to carboxyl-directed Pd-catalyzed β-C(sp)-H arylation and arylation of phenylacetic acids under mild conditions.

Achieving high -selective C-H functionalized products of benzoic acid derivatives using a designed template is still a daunting challenge because the carbonyl group also could coordinate with metal to activate the -C-H bond. Herein, we report the ligand promoted high -selective C-H olefination of benzoic acid derivatives; we screened a series of ligands increasing the ratio of :others from 62:38 to 96:4. This work may find application in the construction of -substituted benzoic acid derivatives.

Classical shadows are a powerful method for learning many properties of quantum states in a sample-efficient manner, by making use of randomized measurements. Here we study the sample complexity of learning the expectation value of Pauli operators via "shallow shadows," a recently proposed version of classical shadows in which the randomization step is effected by a local unitary circuit of variable depth t. We show that the shadow norm (the quantity controlling the sample complexity) is expressed in terms of properties of the Heisenberg time evolution of operators under the randomizing ("twirling") circuit-namely the evolution of the weight distribution characterizing the number of sites on which an operator acts nontrivially.
