The pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (UC) involves genetic, immunological, and environmental factors as well as gut microbiota dysbiosis. As a natural antioxidant with various pharmacological activities widely present in Oleaceae plants, oleuropein (OLE) exhibits anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antiviral, hypoglycemic, and cardioprotective effects. It has been validated that OLE extracted from olive oil can ameliorate UC.

(CUM) possesses various biological effects, including anti-inflammatory, intestinal microbiota regulatory, and immunomodulatory activities. However, there has been little exploration regarding the effects of CUM on ulcerative colitis (UC). Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the beneficial effects of CUM on alleviating dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced UC in mice and to explore the potential underlying mechanisms.

Carbon is predominantly used in zinc-ion hybrid capacitors (ZIHCs) as an electrode material. Nitrogen doping and strategic design can enhance its electrochemical properties. Melamine formaldehyde resin, serving as a hard carbon precursor, synthesizes nitrogen-doped porous carbon after annealing.

Purpose: In order to address the global public health concern of colitis, this study was conducted to investigate the beneficial effect of Lactobacillus plantarum LR002 (LR) on the remission of ulcerative colitis (UC) in mice and to explore the possible underlying mechanisms.

Methods: The effect of LR on UC was analyzed by using dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced UC model in mice (n = 9). To assess the therapeutic effect of LR on UC in mice, the disease activity index (DAI) of mice, histopathological alterations, intestinal epithelial barrier integrity, and intestinal microflora were determined.

This study explored the impact of integrating fermented feed into the starter diet of lambs, focusing on growth, health, serum antioxidants, immune markers, rumen fermentation, and microbial communities. Thirty-six ten-day-old female Tail Han lambs were randomly divided into three experimental groups, which were separately fed with alfalfa hay (LA group), tail vegetable fermented feed (LB group), and tail vegetable fermented feed supplemented with 0.1% microbial inoculants (LC group) during the experimental period.

Enrichment of anaerobic ammonium oxidizing bacteria (AnAOB) in the anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) process remains a challenge in engineering applications. In this study, for faster enrichment of AnAOB, red mud-based carriers were positively charged with FeCl and microbial promoters. The experimental results showed that the average nitrogen removal rates of the red mud-based carriers (RMGA), FeCl-modified red mud-based carriers (RMGA-Fe), and microbial promoter-modified red mud-based carriers (RMGA-MA) increased by 24.

Influenza is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by influenza virus that seriously endangers people's health. Influenza vaccination is the most effective means to prevent influenza virus infection and its serious complications. MDCK cells are considered to be superior to chicken embryos for the production of influenza vaccines, but the tumorigenicity of cells is a concern over the theoretical possibility of the risk of adverse events.

Fast and accurate frequency estimation is significant for instrumentation and measurement. A sinusoid frequency estimator using discrete Fourier transform (DFT) is presented. DFT is implemented on the sinusoid and the maximum DFT bin is sought out to obtain the coarse estimate.

Madin-Darby canine kidney(MDCK) cells can be used to prepare cell-based influenza vaccines; however, little is known regarding the effect of lncRNA regulatorson tumorigenicity. In the present study, two cell lines with low tumorigenicity were screened from highly tumorigenic MDCK cell lines using monoclonal cell technology. Accordingly, three groups of lncRNAs were extracted from three cell lines and investigated using strand-specific Ribo-Zero RNA sequencing, detecting 1092 known and 619 novel lncRNAs.

The stability of melittin in different solvents (water, deoxygenated water, physiological saline, PBS, 50% ethanol, ethanol, glycerol)was studied and the results showed that the stability of melittin is not influenced by light, temperature and pH in 50% ethanol, which melittin can be completed dissolved when compared with ethanol and glycerol, in such, 50% ethanol was chosen as solvent storage when measured content of melittin. Then the effect of different concentrations of PBS, the pH of PBS and rat skin ho- mogenates were tested, and the results showed that melittin was degraded rapidly at low concentration solution and low ionic strength. Increasing pH of PBS and rat skin homogenate can accelerate the degradation of melittin.
