Background: Single-port laparoscopic appendectomy is an advanced minimally invasive surgery that involves the use of upgraded instruments and equipment. We previously modified single-port laparoscopic appendectomy with needle-type grasping forceps (mSLAN) for patients with simple appendicitis, but the feasibility and safety of our modified procedure need further evaluation in a high-quality clinical study.
Aim: To compare the short-term clinical outcomes of mSLAN with those of conventional three-port laparoscopic appendectomy (CLA) for patients with acute uncomplicated appendicitis.

Premetastatic niche (PMN) and macrometastatic niche (MMN) formation in a mouse model is observed via CT combined with 3D organ reconstruction bioluminescence imaging, and then we screen slit guidance ligand 2 (SLIT2) and its receptor roundabout guidance receptor 1 (ROBO1) as important factors. After we confirm the expression and distribution of SLIT2 and ROBO1 in samples from PDAC patients and several mouse models, we discover that SLIT2-ROBO1-mediated coadaptation facilitated the implantation and outgrowth of PDAC disseminated tumour cells (DTCs) in the liver.

Background: Nonfunctional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours are difficult to diagnose in the early stage of disease due to a lack of clinical symptoms, but they can rarely manifest as autoimmune pancreatitis. Autoimmune pancreatitis is an uncommon disease that may cause recurrent acute pancreatitis and is therefore often regarded as a special type of chronic pancreatitis.
Case Summary: We report a case of a 42-year-old female who had nonspecific upper abdominal pain for 4 years and radiological abnormalities of the pancreas that mimicked autoimmune pancreatitis.
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the most aggressive cancers, and the patients are generally diagnosed with distant metastasis. Liver is one of the preferred organs of distant metastasis, and liver metastasis is the leading cause of death in PDAC. Diet-induced obesity (DIO) is a risk factor for PDAC, and it remains unclear whether and how DIO contributes to liver metastasis of PDAC.

Thermally reduced graphene oxide/carbon nanotube (rGO/CNT) composite films were successfully prepared by a high-temperature annealing process. Their microstructure, thermal conductivity and mechanical properties were systematically studied at different annealing temperatures. Vertically aligned carbon nanotube arrays (VACNTs) show a great potential for various applications, such as thermal interface materials (TIMs). Besides the thermally oxidized SiO, atomic layer deposition (ALD) was also used to synthesize oxide buffer layers before the deposition of the catalyst, such as AlO, TiO, and ZnO.
