Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) reduce incidence of cardiovascular events in type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients. Yet, the impact of GLP-1RAs on coronary lesion progression and cardiovascular outcomes after coronary stent implantation remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the effects of GLP-1RAs on coronary lesion progression and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

This study examined the effectiveness of a combined model using non-contrast computed tomography (NCCT) imaging, clinical data, and radiomics for predicting early hematoma enlargement in patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage. The study involved 232 patients with primary cerebral hemorrhage who met the inclusion criteria at the General Hospital of the Western Theater Command, PLA, between January 2018 and December 2023. Imaging and clinical features were compared, radiomic features were extracted from head CT scans, and a multivariate logistic regression model identified key imaging markers and clinical features.

The peripheral nervous system significantly determines the fate of solid tumors and their microenvironment. In neurotropic malignancies such as pancreatic and prostate cancer, denervation in animal models demonstrate significantly delays in tumor initiation and progression, underscoring the critical neural dependency of these cancers. While tumor innervation establishes a structural basis for the neuromodulatory effects, the degree of innervation exhibits marked heterogeneity across tumor types, and its regulatory mechanisms remain poorly characterized.

Background: The frequent suboptimal efficacy of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsy (EUS-FNB) to culture pancreatic cancer (PC) organoids (PCOs) poses a major challenge in the advancement of personalized medicine for advanced PC.
Aim: To explore how to obtain appropriate puncture tissues from EUS-FNB and optimize the strategy for efficiently constructing PCOs, providing an efficient tool for the advancement of personalized medicine.
Methods: Patients who underwent EUS-FNB for the diagnosis of PC tissue were prospectively enrolled.

Four new isocoumarin derivatives 12-O-acetyl-isocitreoisocoumarinol (1), (+)-(10R)-O-acetyl-diaportinol (2-a), (-)-(10S)-O-acetyl-diaportinol (2-b), peyroisocoumarin E (3) and new stereoconfigurations of three isocoumarin derivatives desmethyldichlorodiaportinol A (4), threo-monochlorodiaportinol A (5-a), erytheo-monochlorodiaportinol A (5-b), together with nine known ones (6-14), were separated from the rice fermentation of endophytic fungus Diaporthe arengae M2 isolated from Camellia oleifera. The structures of new compounds were determined by extensive spectroscopic analyses including nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and high resolution electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy (HR-ESI-MS). Compounds 4, 7, 8, 12, 13 exhibited definite inhibition against five strains of bacteria with the MIC values range from 16 μg/mL to 64 μg/mL.

Biliary tract carcinoma (BTC) is a group of malignant tumors that originate in the digestive system and occurs with a high incidence in China. Few consistent and comparable assessments of BTC disease burden have been conducted at national or subnational levels, and little is known about the demographic, temporal, and geographic patterns of epidemiological characteristics and disease burden of BTC in China. The incidence, mortality, disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs), years of life lost (YLLs) due to premature death and years lived with disability (YLDs) of BTC were comprehensively examined by age, sex, and calendar year in the Chinese population, using the methodological framework and analytical strategies used for the 2021 Global Burden of Disease study.

Traditional dichotomous statements on the presence of NI are unreasonable because almost all cases exhibit NI when sufficient pathological sections are examined. The critical implications of NI in pancreatic cancer highlight the need for a more effective criterion.

Objective: Inflammation is involved in the development and progression of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The monocyte to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (MHR) has emerged as a marker for various inflammation-related diseases. The aim of the present study was to investigate the association between the MHR and NAFLD in a population with childhood obesity.

Methods: LINC01605 was filtered out with specificity through TCGA datasets (related to DFS) and our RNA-sequencing data of PDAC tissue samples from Renji Hospital. The expression level and clinical relevance of LINC01605 were then verified in clinical cohorts and samples by immunohistochemical staining assay and survival analysis.
Recently, herpesvirus of turkeys (HVT), which was initially employed as a vaccine against Marek's disease (MD), has been shown to be a highly effective viral vector for producing recombinant vaccines that can simultaneously express the protective antigens of multiple poultry diseases. Prior to the development of commercial HVT-vectored dual-insert vaccines, the majority of HVT-vectored vaccines in use only contained a single foreign gene and were often generated using time-consuming and inefficient traditional recombination methods. The development of multivalent HVT-vectored vaccines that induce simultaneous protection against several avian diseases is of great value.

Recently, the novel variant IBDV (G2d) has been highly prevalent in Korea, but the current vaccines against this very virulent IBDV have limited efficacy against this novel variant. To develop a vaccine against this variant IBDV, a recombinant virus designated rHVT-VP2 was constructed by inserting the IBDV (G2d) VP2 gene into herpesvirus of turkeys (HVT) using CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing technology.

A novel possibly zoonotic H9N2 virus from the Y280-like lineage (H9N2/Y280) has been prevalent in Korea since June 2020, posing a threat to the poultry sector. Rapid mutation of influenza viruses urges the development of effective vaccines against newly generated strains.

Methods: This prospective cohort study identified hospitalized adult patients with COVID-19 between April 19, 2022, and June 9, 2022, amid the omicron wave of the pandemic. Matched nirmatrelvir-ritonavir-treated and non-treated cohorts were formed using the propensity score matching method.
Background: Although prophylactic anticoagulation therapy is suggested to be adopted in severe COVID-19 patients, its effects on the long-term cardiovascular (CV) outcomes, namely the risk of major adverse CV events(MACEs) in high-risk CV patients amid the omicron wave of the pandemic, remain unknown.
Methods: We conducted this prospective cohort study of consecutive adults hospitalized COVID-19 between 19 April and 12 June 2022, COVID-19 patients with at least two CV risk factors or pre-existing CV diseases were enrolled. A propensity score matching(PSM) method was used to evaluated the effects of prophylactic anticoagulation therapy in hospital on long-term MACEs, including CV death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, non-fatal stroke, hospitalization due to unstable angina pectoris, coronary revascularization and arterial or venous thrombosis.
A novel cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) targeted HS-activated cancer-specific fluorescent probe, namely, COX2-H2S, was designed and synthesized, with naphthalimide as the fluorophore and indomethacin as the targeting group. This HS-sensing probe was developed to differentiate tumor cells from normal cells and was tested in living cells, (), and zebrafish. The probe could successfully be used for imaging endogenous and exogenous HS in living cells, demonstrating high sensitivity and specificity and strong anti-interference.

Secondary inorganic ions, the main components of atmospheric PM, are a dominant contributor to haze formation. The detailed characteristics and main generation mechanism of secondary inorganic ions in PM are still unclear in the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan City Group, which is suffering from severe haze pollution, particularly in the autumn and winter seasons. For our study, we collected PM samples in November 2020 and January 2021 from four urban sites in the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan City Group.
