Background: Abnormal gamma-band auditory steady-state response (gamma-ASSR) power has been reported in major depressive disorder (MDD), bipolar disorder (BD), and schizophrenia (SZ), but distinguishing between these disorders based solely on power remains challenging. Directed functional connectivity (DFC), which captures topological patterns of causal information flow, may provide more diagnostic-specific markers. However, conventional case-control framework often disregards the substantial individual heterogeneity, yielding unreliable biomarkers.

Switchable surfactants exhibit broad application potential due to their reversible response to external stimuli. The reversible mechanism of the CO-switchable surfactant ('-dodecyl-, -dimethyl-acetamidines, DDA) solubilization polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and the microscopic dynamic behavior of emulsification/demulsification were systematically studied using coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations. The dynamic transition processes of protonation (DDA to DDA) and deprotonation (DDA to DDA) were successfully simulated.

This article investigates a new approximation-free finite-time control method for active suspension systems (ASSs) to address uncertain nonlinearities and unknown time-varying input delays (UTIDs), while enhancing suspension performance. First, to improve the transient performance of ASSs, a unique finite-time prescribed performance function (FPPF) is designed to ensure that the suspension motion converges to a predetermined range within a finite time. Then, a novel compensator is developed to resolve the impact of unknown input delays in the closed-loop system.

Background: The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) are peripheral serum markers commonly utilized as cost-effective indicators of inflammation. However, their efficacy as predictors of clinical disease activity in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD), remains uncertain. To address this ambiguity, we conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate the clinical significance of NLR, PLR, and LMR in patients with IBD.

Zuogui pill (ZGP) and Yougui pill (YGP) are classical kidney-tonifying formulas in Traditional Chinese Medicine, widely used clinically but with their potential to delay ageing and improve ageing biomarkers remaining unclear. This study combined network pharmacology and Caenorhabditis elegans models to investigate the anti-ageing effects and mechanisms of ZGP and YGP. Both formulas significantly extended lifespan (ZGP dose-dependently at 5-20 mg/mL; YGP at 20 mg/mL) and improved ageing biomarkers, as evidenced by enhanced motility, reduced lipofuscin accumulation and endogenous ROS levels, and increased resistance to heat and oxidative stress.

Faces convey critical information for social communication, such as identity, expression, and eye gaze. Unfortunately, individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) often experience difficulties in processing this information, and these deficits lead to their suffering from social interactions. Importantly, since face processing is a social skill developed during early childhood, its deficits may be an early symptom of ASD.

Glutathione (GSH) is a thiol-containing antioxidant composed of glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine. GSH can form a disulfide bond with the cysteine sulfhydryl group of a protein, resulting in S-glutathionylation (-SSG). S-glutathionylation is a reversible posttranslational modification that plays important roles in redox regulation, detoxification, cell signaling pathway regulation, cell death, infection and inflammation.

Developing both rapid- and long-acting antiviral drugs for single-dose administration can improve medication adherence and protect people at risk of infection. To provide proof of this concept, here, we designed multimerized form of viral receptor-binding domains (RBDs) to immediately occupy viral receptors to block infection and subsequently induce virus-specific protective immunity. We engineered SARS-CoV-2 RBD, enhancing its affinity to ACE2 and immunogenicity through multimerization and Fc modification.

In ultrasonic inspection of internal defects within multilayer media, traditional amplitude-based imaging methods frequently suffer from low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and inconsistent defect characterization, particularly for identically sized flaws at varying depths, primarily due to interface reflections and material attenuation. To address these challenges, a phase-coherent far-focused pixel-based (PC-FPB) imaging algorithm is proposed in this paper. This method constructs coherent imaging signals using a vector coherence factor and introduces a novel scan-line-based coherence modulation strategy.

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) diagnosis remains challenging due to lacking reliable biomarkers. Electroencephalography(EEG) microstate analysis shows promise in detecting GAD-related neural dynamics, but its clinical application is limited by insufficient spatial resolution and sensitivity. To address this challenge, we propose a novel framework integrating fast independent component analysis (FastICA) with microstate analysis to enhance spatial specificity in EEG signal decomposition, consequently, GAD can be more accurately identified.
