Combining Brownian dynamics simulations and self-consistent field theory, we demonstrate that stable assembled structures, such as vesicles, toroidal micelles, bowl-like micelles, sheet-like micelles, non-spherical vesicles, and cylindrical micelles, are dependent on the molecular parameters of amphiphilic comb-like copolymers. Importantly, we find that vesicle formation involves two intermediate states, sheet-like and bowl-like micelles, and the difference in their free energies is minimal, which illustrates the coexisting phase between them. Moreover, the assembled vesicles can be modulated in the membrane thickness with overall size, unchanged only by adjusting the backbone length.

Metabolic reprogramming is a key focus of targeted therapies in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The mitochondrial sirtuin SIRT5 removes succinyl groups from specific lysines and impacts cell metabolism, but its role in AML tumorigenesis has not been extensively explored. A recent study highlighted that SIRT5 regulates AML cell activity by modulating glutamine metabolism, but its molecular targets in AML remain unclear.

O deficiency and excessive reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) in macrophage mitochondria is a key factor causing oxygen imbalance in rheumatoid arthritis microenvironment (RAM). Although nanocatalytic therapy that simultaneously produce O and eliminate RONS offer a novel strategy for RA therapy, the therapeutic efficacy of nanozymes is limited by the lack of autonomous targeting into mitochondria. Herein, we constructed a Janus-structured nanomotor (Pd@MSe) with autonomous targeting ability by embedding Pd single-atom nanozymes into mesoporous selenium (MSe) nanozymes, and obtained a composite nanomotor (Pd@MSe-TPP) with dual-driven forces by modifying with triphenylphosphine (TPP) in MSe hemisphere.

Spectral down-shifting materials can convert the less utilized photons in the solar spectrum into the portion that solar cells can fully utilize, providing an effective means of improving the efficiency of solar cells. In this work, the spectral down-shifting material BaSiOCl: Eu (BSOC) was prepared by a high-temperature solid-state method. The fluorescence spectra indicate that the absorption spectrum of BSOC can cover the range of 210-500 nm, and has a strong emission spectrum with a broadband of 410-650 nm.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients with the FMS-related receptor tyrosine kinase 3 internal tandem duplication (FLT3/ITD) mutation have a poorer prognosis, and treatment with FLT3 tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) has been hindered by resistance mechanisms. One such mechanism is known as adaptive resistance, in which downstream signaling pathways are reactivated after initial inhibition. Past work has shown that FLT3/ITD cells undergo adaptive resistance through the reactivation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) signaling within 24 h of sustained FLT3 inhibition.

To achieve the goals of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" and sustainable development, we propose "Three-Dimensional Environment-Friendly" materials to balance the urgent need for the development of clean energy and the reduction of secondary environmental pollution during adsorbent preparation. In this study, three novel chitosan adsorbents (CMNSC-Leu, CMNSC-Pro, CMNSC-Phe) for uranium adsorption were designed on the basis of molecular level and successfully synthesized with three different amino acids (leucine, proline, phenylalanine) through amidation reaction in an aqueous environment using a sustainable green chitosan material. The uranium adsorption capacity of the three adsorbents was evaluated by batch adsorption, selectivity and recyclability studies.

The near-infrared (NIR) down-conversion process for broadband sensitization has been studied in Eu-Nd co-doped BaAlO. This material has a broad absorption band of 200-480 nm and can convert photons in the visible region into NIR photons. The NIR emission at 1064 nm, attributed to the Nd:F → I transition, matches the bandgap of Si, allowing Si solar cells to utilize the solar spectrum better.

Internal tandem duplication mutations of FLT3 (FLT3/ITD) confer poor prognosis in AML. FLT3 tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) alone have limited and transient clinical efficacy thus calling for new targets for more effective combination therapy. In a loss-of-function RNAi screen, we identified NOTCH4 as one such potential target whose inhibition proved cytotoxic to AML cells, and also sensitized them to FLT3 inhibition.

Atropisomerism is a type of conformational chirality that plays a critical role in various fields of chemistry, including synthetic, medicinal and material chemistry, and its impact has been widely recognized. Although chiral atropisomerism in rotationally restricted aryl-aryl bonds has garnered substantial interest and led to important discoveries in chiral catalysts and drug development, the exploration of non-aryl atropisomers has fallen behind. Here we reveal a previously unexplored form of non-aryl atropisomerism by linking a sterically congested olefin to a sulfoxonium ylide.
