Lakes serve as critical regulators of biogeochemical processes, acting as hotspots for nitrous oxide (NO) emissions while simultaneously retaining substantial phosphorus loads. However, the role of total phosphorus (TP) in shaping NO dynamics remains poorly understood. Here, we investigated TP-mediated changes in NO concentrations in Dongting Lake, China, using a classification framework based on national water quality standards, validated with the GRiMe dataset and machine learning approaches.

However, how lncRNA expression might have been globally altered during Solanum lycopersicum (tomato) breeding and what potential roles they play in regulating metabolite accumulation in fruit remain unclear. Here, we identified 15,548 lncRNAs using RNA-sequencing data from 404 tomato accessions.

The combined attributes of nanometals and aerogels render them a special class of porous materials with vast potential in diverse fields. Growing environmental concerns have spurred interest in MAs for environmental remediation.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFNoble metal aerogels (NMAs) are typically assembled from metal nanoparticles, thus combining the physicochemical properties of nanostructured metals with the self-standing porous architecture of aerogels. NMAs therefore have potential in catalysis, sensing and other applications where the controlled manipulation of their structure and composition facilitates their use in fundamental and applied sciences. However, their preparation remains challenging due to the particular gelation behavior displayed by metal systems.

Electrocatalytic acetylene semihydrogenation in membrane electrode assembly systems promises a sustainable pathway for ethylene production, yet faces challenges in catalyst performance and durability. Herein, we developed a Cu coordination polymer with hybrid sites that synergistically integrate open Cu sites and N-heterocyclic carbenes. These hybrid sites bestow the coordination polymer with acetylene gasophilicity, hydrophobicity toward water, and readily accessible active Cu sites, which energetically facilitate acetylene absorption and vinyl intermediate formation, thereby enabling efficient ethylene production at ampere-level current densities.

Though light quality is an important factor for plant photomorphogenesis, its impact on the efficiency of transient expression remains unexplored. In this study, we examined the influence of five representative light qualities with varying wavelength mix on the N.

Fungi associated with Huperzioideae species are potential contributors to HupA biosynthesis, offering promising prospects for HupA production. Despite its medical significance, limited knowledge of fungal diversity in lycophytes and the variability of HupA production in fungal strains have impeded the discovery and applications of HupA-producing fungi.

Here, our genetic screening of the previously constructed hairpin RNA-based Arabidopsis library identifies a glutathione (GSH)-deficient mutant that has high accumulation of glutamate (Glu), a previously defined wound signal essential for activating plant defense, but disharmoniously exhibits attenuation of defense signaling events. We further uncover GSH as a critical signaling molecule that relies on GLUTAMATE RECEPTOR-LIKE 3.

However, the sugar content of commercial varieties is generally low, as it is inversely correlated with fruit size, and growers prioritize yield over flavour quality. Here we identified two genes, tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) calcium-dependent protein kinase 27 (SlCDPK27; also known as SlCPK27) and its paralogue SlCDPK26, that control fruit sugar content.

Plant pathogenic fungi pose a substantial challenge to agricultural production, but the conventional fungicide-based approaches are losing importance. As agents with broad-spectrum antibacterial effects, gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) are found to have antifungal effects; however, no study has examined their application in agriculture as fungicides. Accordingly, this study investigates the activity of 2-mercaptoimidazole-capped Au NPs (MI-Au NPs) against the 'top' plant pathogenic fungi, finding that they could inhibit , , and by inducing cytoplasmic leakage.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) poses a significant global health dilemma, emerging from complex causes. Although our prior research has indicated that a deficiency in Reticulon-3 (RTN3) accelerates renal disease progression, a thorough examination of RTN3 on kidney function and pathology remains underexplored. To address this critical need, we generated Rtn3-null mice to study the consequences of RTN3 protein deficiency on CKD.
