Herein, marine sediment systems were established to investigate the MIT impacts under tiered concentrations (CK, 0 μg/L; LC, 5 μg/L; MC, 50 μg/L; HC 5 mg/L). The extracellular polymeric substance contents increased in the LC and MC groups, but not in the HC group, after one day of exposure.

Unlabelled: The antimicrobial agent -chloro--xylenol (PCMX), an emerging environmental pollutant, poses ecological risks; however, its biodegradation mechanisms remain unresolved. Here, we elucidate the metabolic pathway and functional genes involved in the initial catabolic step of PCMX in a newly isolated bacterium, DMU114. Pure-culture and synthetic consortium assays confirmed the pivotal role of in PCMX degradation, despite its relatively low abundance in the PCMX-enriched consortium.

Background: Cadmium (Cd) contamination in rice has become a global issue. However, limited information exists regarding the impact of sowing dates on Cd accumulation in ratoon rice (RR) and its associated health risks. This study involved a two-season field experiment on rice-ratoon rice, which was conducted on a mildly Cd-contaminated soil in southern China.

URAT1 is essential for renal urate reabsorption and has emerged as a critical therapeutic target for managing hyperuricemia. However, the precise transport mechanism and the inhibitory effects of uricosuric drugs on URAT1 remain unclear.

The widespread use of p-chloro-m-xylenol (PCMX) as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent raises concerns about its ecological risks in ecosystems. While prior studies focused on activated sludge systems, the impacts of PCMX on marine systems remain unknown. Here, we systematically investigated the responses of marine sediment communities to PCMX (0.

We report the synthesis of isoluminol derivatives with a terminal carboxyl group for protein labelling. And also, an -hydroxysuccinimide active ester of carboxylic acid as a direct protein labelling reagent was isolated with high purity.

Therefore, there is a need for water management strategies that can reduce Cd accumulation in rice without the substantial resource demands of CF. Field trials conducted in Cd-contaminated paddy fields in southern China compared eight water management strategies, including continuous drainage (CD), stage-specific flooding, and CF, to identify alternatives for reducing rice Cd accumulation.

Although technological innovations, especially AI-driven solutions, hold promise for improving outcomes, there is a pressing need to clarify the full spectrum of patient demands during the transition from hospital to home. This study aimed to systematically identify these demands to guide the development of AI-driven solutions that reduce readmission rates and improve clinical outcomes.

Quantitative computed tomography (QCT) parameters add value to quantify alterations in airway and lung parenchyma for COPD. This study aimed to assess the performance of QCT features in COPD detection using a whole-lung inspiratory CT model.

Existing studies suffer from poor inventory quality and inaccurate quantification. To overcome these challenges, this study integrates the energy balance model with life cycle assessment to evaluate key system parameters, quantify co-incineration disturbances, and assess environmental impacts.

The vesicular acetylcholine transporter (VAChT) has a pivotal role in packaging and transporting acetylcholine for exocytotic release, serving as a vital component of cholinergic neurotransmission. Dysregulation of its function can result in neurological disorders. It also serves as a target for developing radiotracers to quantify cholinergic neuron deficits in neurodegenerative conditions.

Triclocarban (TCC) and triclosan (TCS) are applied in a wide range of pharmaceutical and personal care products to prevent or reduce bacterial growth. Due to their extensive application, they are frequently detected in marine environments. In this study, marine sediment systems exposed to different concentrations of TCC and TCS were established to evaluate their effects on microbial communities.

Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a broadly used method for quantifying environmental impacts, and life cycle impact assessment (LCIA) is an important step as well as a major source of uncertainties in LCA. Characterization factors (CFs) are pivotal elements in LCIA models. In China, the health loss due to ambient PM is an important aspect of LCIA results, which, however, is generally assessed by adopting CFs developed by global models and there remains a need to integrate localized considerations and the latest information for more precise applications in China.

With the restricted use of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), a number of alternatives to PFOS and PFOA have attracted great interest. Most of the alternatives are still characterized by persistence, bioaccumulation, and a variety of toxicity. Due to the production and use of these substances, they can be detected in the atmosphere, soil and water body.

However, the impact of this cultivation method on cadmium (Cd) bioavailability in soil and the accumulation levels in grains remains uncertain. Field experiments were conducted in acidic soils at two locations in southern China to compare rice varieties and evaluate the dry direct-seeding method alongside the wet direct-seeding and traditional transplanting methods.

It differs from other modes of cell death at the morphological, biochemical, and genetic levels. Ferroptosis is mainly characterized by non-apoptotic iron-dependent cell death caused by iron-dependent lipid peroxide excess and is accompanied by abnormal iron metabolism and oxidative stress.

Chloroxylenol is a commonly used antimicrobial agent in antibacterial and disinfection products, which has been detected in various environments, such as wastewater treatment plants, rivers, seawater, and even drinking water, with concentrations ranging from ng/L to mg/L. However, the biodegradation of chloroxylenol received limited attention with only sporadic reports available so far. In this study, an efficient chloroxylenol-degrading consortium, which could degrade 20 mg/L chloroxylenol within two days, was obtained after five months of enrichment.
